I like the Sonic 3 sprites more than sonic 2. The sonic 3 sprite, to me, looks like it foreshadows some of the future design elements of Sonic. Im not sure why, but it felt like to me Sonic 3 sprite was a precursor to Sonic Adventure/ Sonic X.

My personal favorite is modern sonic. If they just make his shoes look more like hot dog shoes and make his shade of skin darker like in generations and also make his hands and shoes a bit smaller and make his eyes go into his muzzle and last but certainly not least, make his quills shorter. I really like 06's models and really ALL of its designs in general (except for the humans and I'll get to that. Sonic and friends look more realistic but are cartoony enough to where they stick out from the realistic landscapes. I also love the shade of blue for its design, I've never liked Sonic being dark blue and this color is a nice in-between. The humans look alright, and even Eggman's design isnt as bad as people say IMO, but I do think they should've been more anime inspired like the Adventure games and Shadow 05. I also think Elise should've been younger, sort of making her a little sister to Sonic as apposed to a love interest. Overall 06 has in my opinion, the best designs in any Sonic game.

Gonna be honest, I never really liked the Sonic model from Sonic Adventure (Dreamcast). It just looks very off to me. It’s not the worst Sonic model by no means, but I just don’t care for it, personally. My favorite Sonic model is definitely the Sonic Unleashed model. I like how long the quills look and the textures still hold up really good. The Sonic Rush Adventure/Sonic Colors DS model is another personal favorite of mine too.

Sonic The Fighters model is the closest to legit Sonic proportions as it is balanced in length, roundness etc. Judging it mostly by its flat shading is inadequate. obviously my fav. then everyone else (modern from sa2) goes under, that's all.

Hotter take: Secret Rings and Sonic Spinball had the best Sonic models/Sprites. With Secret Rings having the best of both worlds between 06 and Adventure models, probably because Secret Rings started off as an 06 port for the wii. While Spinball has all the attitude and coolfactor of "American Sonic", while still looking modern and animated and retaining some of the features of the Sonic 3 sprite work. Molten Hot Take: Secret Rings and Sonic Spinball are two of the best Sonic games, right in the mid top 10s. Secret Rings as always is better than Black Knight in every single way.

I prefer a rounder sonic model because it makes more sense canonically, as sonic needs to be able to roll into a ball so his quills would need to be more rounded and circular, also Jim being a bit stouter would also make it easier to roll into a ball. SA1s original model grasped this concept the best I believe

I will literally pay money to a KZbinr to talk about 06 and not bring up P-06, golly. Great list, very rarely do I agree with lists in general. I'd add SADX and Forces max higher, lower Modern Gens (I actually dislike the Modern Gens model, feels too large and heavy), Boom RoL Sonic on number 2 and add 06 on the number 1 spot. Generally, I think almost everyone was visually perfected in 06, Knuckles amd Tails are the only ones that didn't click with me (Knux had a great promotional render too, what a shame, he didn't look good in-game tho). And yes, I didn't include Eggman with the ugly ones, 06 Eggman's peak. Sorry. Not. Sorry. Also, surprised you skipped some. Sure, not including all Classic and Adventure Era ones makes sense but there were some big ones. The Riders models, the Shadow the Hedgehog model, Jump Pro, Runners Adventure, Chronicles, Dash. No complains, just notable. Especially for Riders and ShtH 05, they feel like big ones to leave out.

Hot take: i highly dislike the 06 model. The best way I can explain it is that it looks a bit much? Like his limbs are ever so too long and his quills are ever so too long, to the point that they look more like dreadlocks. And the way the model is unable to make literally any other facial expressions other than his default just makes him look gormless throughout 06.

I think that modern Sonic is beautiful when he has long quills and a darker shade of blue. I'm sorry but short quills like in forces doesn't look good on modern and I don't like that one of his quills is shorter than the others it looks, ugly. Hey man this is supposed to be comparing like. The models and sprites, right? You're supposed to be comparing between *models?* Can you like. Actually do that? And not compare the *materials?* Feels like you compared the colors and materials of the sprites and models more than you compared how Sonic looks, putting IDENTICAL MODELS at completely opposite sides from the list Forces and Frontiers - they're the exact same model, the only difference is the materials, where Frontiers added some subsurface scattering and a fur texture. Not the model, the materials. Unleashed and Generations - Even more identical. There's actually *nothing* different between them. Like, the textures and materials aren't even different. You seem to have put Generations lower because... his skin sometimes looks greener? That's LIGHTING. That's not even the texture or material and definitely not the model, that is the *location that he is in* Classic Generations and Frontiers - same deal. The model isn't different, just the colors and the lighting of the places he's in. And this insistence on ranking based on colors and materials rather than the actual look of Sonic has permeated through a lot of your rankings too - The most obvious one is Mania, you've decided that just because his color is too cyan - which is a criticism I agree with - that means the ranking is way lower than it should be. Same with Advance, I agree the skin tone is a bit too yellow but that is an offensively low ranking for sprites that get so much of Sonic's best design traits down. And don't even get me STARTED on Heroes - dude, yes, the model is a little bit too shiny, but like??? Why is THAT alone reason to put it *second lowest on the list?* As if everything else about the model isn't PERFECT MODERN SONIC??? As if that is not a beautiful conversion of Sonic's best design traits, from the nice circular head and muzzle flow and all the cartoony charm we love these characters for? Colors are an important part of a design but they absolutely should not be such a big deal that they overwrite what the title says the video is actually about. (Sorry if I seem overly angry in this comment, I'm really not that angry lol)
