Every Souls Game RANKED From Worst to Best

I’ve only played 4 Souls games. My preference is level design and exploration > boss fights, even though I love the bosses as well. So my ranking looks like: 1. Elden Ring 2. Dark Souls 3. Bloodborne 4. Dark Souls 3 Elden Ring is my favorite game ever made, because it may be the best at everything it attempts. It has the best world of any game, a massive amount of lore full of memorable characters, the best level design I’ve ever seen (Leyndell, Stormveil, Farum Azula etc), my favorite boss line up in any game (Mohg, Godfrey, Maliketh, Morgott etc), and is the most visually stunning game of all time.

I’m kinda the same way. Imo Elden ring and dark souls 1 are clear of the other games. Not to say that the other games aren’t amazing(I still love Sekiro and bloodborne) but elden ring and dark souls 1 just have a special type of magic. They really felt like innovative worlds.

Not only is Sekiro my favorite FromSoft game, it's still my favorite of all time. The combat is just perfection, and combat is the most important part of a game for me. It also has the perfect balance between giving you a story to follow and letting you find pieces of lore in item descriptions and NPC conversations. I boot it up at least monthly to fight bosses again, because it's that good. For me personally, I would move it to the top. Otherwise, my ranking is the same. Well done!

Sekiro is still my favorite FromSoftware game. Probably my favorite Souls-like in general. I think they perfected combat in that game. Yes it does lack variety in weapon options, but that results in the very best of what you have. Sekiro 2 is a game I need in my soul lol

I agree with your DS3 placement wholeheartedly. I think my biggest issue is the lack of poise mechanics, it turns the otherwise great combat too simplistic, rendering the non-boss encounters to a game of “thou who swingeth first wineth the fight”

02:28 Regarding the "it's not a Miyazaki game", "it's a spin-off", or "it was made by the "B team". This is te same as going to KFC expecting your meal being prepared by Colonel Sanders himself, purchasing an Apple product expecting it to be built by Steve Jobs, or purchasing a Ferrari expecting it to be built by Enzo Ferrari. It doesn't work like that. DS2 was made by members of FromSoftware team. It was supervised by Miyazaki and got his approval. And many awesome elements of it were carried over to future FromSoftware games.

It’s still the worst game they’ve ever made. Clearly, it was made by people who didn’t know for sure what made DS1 so great, or how to balance the difficulty. Furthermore, it’s highly questionable how big of a role Miyazaki had in the making of DS2, because clearly, it wasn’t big enough. To say that his role was anything beyond consulting is a massive overstatement; he was preoccupied with Bloodborne. DS2 had problems; many, many problems. It is a flawed game in every aspect. Both Demon souls and DS1 wipe the floor with DS2, and it shouldn’t be like that. DS2 fanboys should get a grip, just like Bloodborne 2 copium addicts. Some things just aren’t real😂

@@VREMEPLOV1 have you played DS1 at its release? It had many, many problems. It took several patches until they fixed it. And that took a long time, too. Some of them até never fixed until the remaster was launched. Personally, I don't care much about "how much of Miyazaki is in it" as long as the game is good. I very much prefer DS2 over DS3, for instance. But DS1 is still From's magnus opus.

@@thulsa_doom​​⁠Unfortunately, no. I started with Elden Ring, because of a friend praising it hahaha. Pirated the game because I was afraid of the difficulty. Couldn’t pass the Gatefront ruins (yes…). Deleted it. Again, he praised it, so I forced myself to play through it by buying it at a full price. Took me 6h to beat Margit, the fell omen …and then I fell in love with that genre. Couldn’t stop playing. Beat the whole game, then I bought every other soulslike in this order: DS3, Sekiro, DS1, Demons’s souls and Bloodborne (didn’t have a ps but bought ps5 because of those 2 games). After that, bought DS2 SOTFS, played for about 8 hours and just couldn’t stand it. EDIT: I heard that Demon’s souls remake was off for some reason, so I’m kind of glad I didn’t play the original, cause it would probably feel a lot worse, apart from graphics. Liked it a lot, even though majority of bosses were gimmicky, and didn’t really understand world tendencies, but all in all- really good game for the time period.

Except Sanders, Ferrari and Jobs died a long time ago, while Miyazaki continues to make games. He was developing Bloodborne with his team during the development of Dark Souls 2.

Cool video! My list would probably be: 7/6: Dark souls 3 and Demon's souls are pretty interchangeable here 5: Dark souls. If were just going off a first playthrough, it's gotta be number 1, just such a magical experience, but it doesn't hold up today as most of the others 4. Dark souls 2. criminally underrated 3. Elden Ring. Funnily enough, the open world is my least favorite part, I just love the legacy dungeons and bosses so much. 2/1: Depending on how I'm feeling, BB and Sekiro are pretty interchangeable

Like many noobs, Elden Rinig was my first Souls game, and while the first few hours had me wanting to snap the game disc in half, I quickly fell in love with the exploration, level design, combat, build variety, and lore in a way that fewer than a handful of games ever have. I went into NG+ without taking a breath after beating the game, then started a no leveling run after beating NG+. Because it was my first, however (and because I am not good at these types of games) it was hard to backtrack into the previous games due to the quality of life improvements that Elden Ring made. I got about halfway through Bloodborne, which I was absolutely LOVING, before frustration beat me down. The finicky camera was getting in my way on two midgame bosses that everyone said were "easy" but that cost me my remaining blood vials (of which I was convinced at this point I had an infinite supply of). Having to grind for so long to replenish my vials, only to get stomped by the camera, er, i mean, boss again, was too dispiriting and I quit to prevent a stroke. I subsequently blazed through Demon's Souls, and while I liked it a lot it was definitely a flawed experience, and I didn't feel compelled to jump into NG+ when I was done. I would love to try Sekiro but ngl I'm kinda scared to (I'm trash at parrying) and I can never find a cheap copy to take a flyer on. In any case, thanks to Elden Ring, I know that moving forward all Soulsborne games from Fromsoft will be a day one purchase for me.

Good list with great opinions here’s mine personally 1. Elden Ring 2. Demon Souls 3. Sekiro: Shadows Die Two Times Fast Way 4. DS3 5. DS1 6. BloodBorne 7. DS2 I put BloodBorne and DS2 at the bottom only because BloodBorne has that same vibe through the entire story and it’s whether you like that kinda aspect or not and 2 just because that’s the one that has made me mad the most lol but all are amazing games for what they offer and how the story’s are told, I put Elden Ring as #1 only because it has the most exploration, 2nd best fighting mechanic to Sekiro and just in my opinion some of the best bosses

I would personally swap Sekiro and Dark Souls III. I'd also swap Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 2 1 - Bloodborne 2 - Elden Ring 3 - Dark Souls III 4 - Dark Souls 5 - Sekiro 6 - Demon's Souls 7 - Dark souls II Dark Souls II is fundamentally broken and stiff. I have my rants but you can rank me among the haters. Demon's souls is exactly as you say, a GREAT first attempt that's quite primitive and it's clear why some of the mechanics didn't carry forward. Sekiro and everything else I LOVE but Sekrio is missing two key elements in character/build creation and multiplayer. I still think it's a goddamn masterpiece but the lack of those two elements hurt it for me long-term. Dark Souls 1 is great but I think Dark Souls III is jsut a much more refined, polished, and crisp version of it that has aged a lot better. DS1 is like most on this list a masterpiece but it's a bit harder to get people to play it now; I can't say the same about III, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring. and Sekiro, of course.

Thing is demon souls feels consistently mid, whereas ds2 is worse but it also has higher highs which I generally prefer. I don’t really think anything in demon souls is on the level of the ds2 dlcs or a fume knight for examppe I also don’t think it’s fair to downgrade sekiro just because it has no multiplayer and no build variety. For one, it’s an action rpg so it doesn’t need build variety especially with how good its combat already is, and having multiplayer wouldn’t work with the type of combat sekiro has. It’s kinda like saying dmc3 isn’t great because it has no multiplayer when it really was never meant to have it.

For me personally, DS1 is my least favorite. The clunky movement is a big gripe for me. I'll play 2 or 3 over 1 any day. 2 is actually one of my favorite games in the series and I don't think it deserves any of the hate it gets.

while still a great game, especially with its amazing dlc, i find bloodborne to be overrated. The boss roster for the base game is infuriatingly mediocre with rom, one reborn, and micolash being some of the shittiest bosses ive played, all required and all consecutive. Just leave such a negative stain on my first playthrough that, in spite of its amazing dlc, makes it kind of incapable of making it into my top 3

See that’s a the thing, games aren’t centered around boss fights. Bloodborne isn’t a boss gauntlet, so lowballing the game THAT much just because it doesn’t have great boss quality overall isn’t really fair when the game excels in literally everything else. It either is the best at everything else or second, for example the level design is arguably some of the best and only behind ds1 due to how organic it feels to explore the world of yharnam

dark souls 1 is amazing in the first half, but the second half of the game really isn't great. terrible areas like tomb of the giants and lost izalith, and lack luster bosses, especially Gwyn being the final boss of the game and being so disappointingly easy and boring! imo the dark souls games got progressively better, with 3 being the best.

There are also a lot of repeat themes in DS3 which people could dislike but to me that's part of the point since it's about the destruction of this cycle from DS1.

@@TEEZY105 the level design in elden ring is extremely fluctuating in terms of quality. You have cool stuff like the sewers but then you have garbage like lake of rot and even raya lucaria which feels extremely underwhelming. Even places like castle sol straight up reuse enemies in the most annoying fashion possible, to the point where one of the knights can literally teleport into the boss room. Bloodborne on the other hand has consistently great level design and world design with central yharnam being widely considered as the best starting level in any FS game. The bosses don’t matter. The game isn’t a boss gauntlet or a boss rush. If you’re looking for something like that then sekiro exists, but not every game needs to have a consistently stellar boss quality and I’d argue bloodborne still has better bosses than ds1 especially in the dlc.
