The best part about isshin is that he tests every skill the player should have learnt: deflection, sword fights, spear fights, gun fights, unblockable attacks, lighting reversal, aggression, wind attacks similar to those of divine dragon, everything. Together with story relevance, being actually fun to fight and cool factor that makes it a perfect final fight for me.

@@Nocturne989 while true, I think for the Souls Series itself, Dark Souls 1-3 he does get near uncontested Gold. Iishin, like Gael, is his own work of pure art. I've played all the games and think that both are works of perfection. Same goes with Gehrman. Comparing Gael, to Iishin, to Gehrman is like comparing the Starry Night to the Mona Lisa, or even to other legendary Renaissance works. They're all beautiful in their own rights. Personally I was just happy to see my personal favorite fight take first place on the top tier. So ultimately, I do agree with you there.

I like Soul of Cinder and Gael as culminations of player potential. The soul of cinder showcases off potential builds you could have used as well as includes a fight with Gwyn minus parry cheese. Gael uses fast but strong attacks to show off quality, a crossbow to show off using items, and a bunch of different magic spells.

Radagon was incredible. The best part about his fight was the MUSIC. Dude. Rank boss music! Radagon’s theme is amazing!
@leithaziz2716
@leithaziz2716 Жыл бұрын
My gripe with Radagon is that his teleporting comes off as obnoxious when he chooses to switch between throwing daggers at an unreactable speed, or chooses to approach with delayed hammer swings. The delayed swings are fine, but when he is just as likely to start throwing knives, it throws you off (and not in the good "punishing passive play" way). We've seen this tactic pulled off much better with the Twin Princes fight. There, they switch between attacks after teleporting, but each attack is given enough startup and clarity that you can tell the difference between each attack in the moment. Gripes aside, music does slap indeed.

Soul of Cinder was really something else... the fact that the boss is both technically and mechanically you (the player) from the end of DS1 just wraps up the story so well. It uses everything you could've learned in phase 1, switching between builds until finally summoning the powers of the very first Lord, Gwyn (but much better). Also the OST is just absolutely amazing, I get chills from it every time. The arena is also the best boss room in my opinion, the dying sun and the mediveal apocalypse scenery gotta be one of the most, if not the most iconic backdrop of the entire Souls series.

Sir Alonne has my favorite character lore in all of dark souls. An talented Samurai finds himself without a master, finds the Old Iron King, they have a mutual respect for each others strength but have literally nothing else in common. Alonne is ostracized by the people for being different, so he's relegated to his own secret room where he spends all of his time polishing the floor in this room that looks NOTHING like the rest of the castle. But then years later he's finally seen as a legend and inspires copycats in the Iron Keep

Radagon and both versions of Isshin are by far the best final bosses imo. Elden beast is a great audio/visual spectacle, with emphasis on a more soothing and yet tragic atmosphere. Mechanically i think it's pretty good, animations and hitboxes are super polished as well. It's slower paced, which gives all of it's moves more time to exist (contributing to the overall vibe). I also love the implementation of the jump dodge for many of it's attacks, including sword swings. The "runing away" aspect is overblown imo, especially seeing as there are so many opportunities to deal damage to the boss and break it's posture. Also i believe From as reduced the frequency of this happening because i find that the boss doesn't do it nearly as much now. Or maybe it has something to do with positioning (like the Fire Giant's roll), i'm not sure. Lastly i'll say being able to use torrent during the fight would've been awesome, but the boss needed to be rebalanced for that to work properly, because as it stands, the Elden Beast is balenced for "on foot" combat and torrent would likely trivialize a huge number of melee and ranged attacks due to his speed being much greater than the travel/expansion velocity and tracking of projectiles and AOEs.

Personally, Elden Beast is one of my favorite final bosses in any game that I’ve played. His move set is vast, keeping you on your toes through the entire fight. His moves are punishing, meaning that you have to have actual skill to beat the game. The arena was spectacular, solid 10/10 final boss arena. His moves were beautiful. I got everything that I wanted from a final boss in the Elden Beast. The most annoying part was fighting Radagon again and again after I died to the Elden beast. Something else that I found slightly annoying and yet also thoroughly enjoyed was the way that the Elden Beasts moves stacked up. He would shoot Elden stars, and then Rain of Arrows, followed by Sacred Sword or Golden Wave. And immediately after he would go into the Elden ring attack, or breath fire that I have to run across the whole arena to escape. It was annoying to deal with, but it gave me a sense of realism, because that’s similar to what would actually happen in real life. A barrage of attack after attack, taking any opening that you can get to deal some damage. All in all, loved the fight. 9/10

Thank you for giving such a credit for Gehrman.I think his first phase is very easy. I got 2 parry on him and a few attacks then he transform into his second phase which is a hard phase. I knew the lore while i am fighting against him and once the lyrics of his ost kicked in... I feel something different i felt sorry for him and even i could beat him on my first try i get up from my chair and let him to kill me just to hear the ost and fight this epic battle once more. Definietly one of the best characters in video games history and best boss in bloodborne for me.

I’ll defend elden beast till my dying breath. I get why people don’t like it but I think it’s one of the best large beast type bosses in the series and an Incredible finale that honestly just elevates the final fight. I had an awesome time against the elden beast using a secret method most souls players going to elden ring don't know : it's called ranged attacks. Radagon was the big skill check melee fight Elden Beast was the big high fantasy fight between a genius mage and a cosmic entity trading powerful magic rays between each others. Also Elden Beast dodges is more about figuring out the flaws in it's attacks than dumb reflex check, which I know based on the fact the community keeps praising Bloodborne and Sekiro, that you guys prefer dumb reflex based gameplay over slower build and strategy based one, but it's not my case.

You ever noticed the similarities between gehrman and isshin. I feel like isshin is the gehrman fight perfected(ironic cus I prefer gehrman) but they are both older mentors. They both fight with a short blade, long blade and a gun. They have the wind attacks. They even fight in very similar arenas with the whitefield as the home base goes down in flames behind you. I think graphically isshin has the upper hand but gehrmans arena under the moonlight is too beautiful for me

I always loved how the fight with Gael actually felt like what it was: two guys, fighting at the end of the world, for something they won’t even matter in the end, who both have been through hell and back for the sake of their mission, and in the end, whether Gael or you wins, the outcome is the same: giving the Dark Soul to the painter so she can lay a new world. The fight itself, the second and third phase did everything to truly encapsulate that “end of the line” feeling, what with Gael throwing everything he has at you, in a desolate giant dirt-covered ruined city, with lightning falling all around both of you, the OST is top tier… I can’t even put it into words, Gael’s fight is the absolute peak ending.

My first time fighting Gehrman will always be something I remember. Bloodborne boss AI is strange as it can be so random and it was a highlight for the fight. For some reason, Gehrman only started doing certain moves after I did. He didn't fire his gun until I fired it, he didn't transform at a percentage but rather after I did, he didn't Visceral me until I first did it to him. It was so strange, but a highlight for sure.

I keep saying it, they should've given Radagon another health bar and a phase 2 where Marika tries to stop him from inside and his combos just get a lot more wild and he starts shining more. Maybe also have the arena crumbling and the fire from the erdtree starting to reach inside as the main menu music intensifies. Would've been a great finale knowing Marika helped you become elden lord. My first reaction when I saw Radagon was pure joy. There's this character everybody talks about, second elden lord and shit, great ending. He also had that intimidating presence like Isshin, Malenia and Radahn. Honestly I'd might put Soul of Cinder in B solely because of the curve sword auto parries. Yes while Soul of Cinder has the curved sword out he can auto parry the player forcing you to either accept the 1000+ damage parries from attacking him during it or just being forced to wait until he swaps weapons. He's a great boss 90% of the time and 10% of the time he's effectively forces an Aldia fight waiting game.

As I thought about it more, I think Moon Presence was a better handled version of what Elden Beast in Elden Ring went for. For starters, you have the option for Gherman to be the last boss you fight (since you need to go out of your way to meet access the Moon Presence boss) which doesn't undermine Gherman as your last fight as it does with Radagon. Secondly, with the last act of the game delving more into cosmic horror, it clues you in that there's more going on behind the scene regarding Moon Presence's existence. When I first saw Elden Beast, it felt like it came out of nowhere with no buildup, and I made sure to read most item descriptions before that moment.

Sister Friede I feel gets some extra points by being the first ever boss, at least in a soulsborne game, to have legitimately three phases. We have all experienced that relief of defeating phase 2, getting a prize, the enemy defeated thing on our screen... and then the abject horror when she got back up when we had no more healing items. That boss gave me the same horrifying thrill I had when I found my first mimic, and that is a memory I will cherish greatly.

And we saw old Isshin being a good guy to the main mc. And then in the climax, he enters from Genichiro's body like some horror movie type sh*t. And we see prime Isshin holy sh*t. The very same man who was being touted as a god lvl samurai and was unbeatable until Sekiro showed up. My list isn't too different than yours but it would go like this : S tier - Slave Knight Gael - best From Soft boss to this day still , Sword Saint Isshin / Inner Isshin ( slight upgrade ) best Sekiro boss do doubt , Orphan of Kos - best BB boss imo and certainly the hardest . Sister Friede obviously the best boss in her dlc , that third phase is awesome . A tier - Manus - an excellent fight but not quite S tier , Soul of Cinder - one of the best DS3 base game has to offer , Gehrman the first hunter - great boss fight but overshadowed by the dlc bosses , Radagon/Elden Beast - Radagon is definitely the better half of the fight but EB isn't bad by any means but can be boring to fight him sometimes , still one of the better remembrance ER bosses , Sir Alonne - one of the best DS2 bosses and one of the rare ones that get as high as A . B tier - Isshin/Ema - good boss fight but the first phase is almost the same as Sword Saint and the second phase is good but not great , Burnt Ivory King is a good boss fight , really like his second phase but the first phase is boring and on high ng+ is awful to do , can't rank him higher , Sinh is easily the best DS2 dragon boss fight and a good boss fight in his own right , Gwyn - a bit easy to parry , he doesn't have a lot of moves but he is fast and a good ending to the base DS1 game , could have been better tho , Old King Allant - definitely the best boss in Demon's Soul and has a decent moveset especially for that time , not gonna count the slug version that would be super F . C tier - Moon presence - has an epic cutscene but the fight is just mediocre and a disappointment , not bad just average , Mergo's Wet Nurse has a cool design but the boss is just too slow and boring to fight , he has some nice moves especially the ,, dark phase ,, but is just an OK boss fight , a bit disappointing it can actually be the final boss . D tier - Nashandra - barely has any moves , slow and just boring , she isn't terrible but definitely bellow average and a poor final boss . Aldia - even worse than Nashandra , he has more moves but is so boring to fight and it takes a while until you get a chance to properly damage him , I didn't like it but it isn't garbage just another disappointing DS2 boss .

Nashandra, Aldia, and Elden Beast would all go in F tier for me. Radagohn is cool but he's just phase 1 of one of my least favourite bosses in the series. And the beast, while it's annoying and tedious, it's not really difficult, just time consuming... And that makes it soooo boring. What a weird finale to a fantastic game

Gael is by far my favourite. When I heard about him I thought the hype would be too high, it wasn't. Only boss in the series I've felt so sure of how fair it is. He hasn't got any bs that you can't beat with proper and fair timing. His Moveset is fluid and the flow of the fight is amazing. I really hope we get something similar in Shadow of the Erdtree.

My personal list: 7. King Allant 6. Aldia 5. Gwyn 4. Emma/ Isshin Ashina 3. Soul of Cinder 2. Genichiro/ Sword Saint Isshin 1. Radagon/ Elden Beast I still haven’t played bloodbourne :/
@addictedtochocolate920
@addictedtochocolate920 Жыл бұрын
Nowadays, without factoring in the nostalgia i feel for Demon's souls, i think Isshin Ashina is most definitely and without any doubts the best fight. Sekiro was on another level when it came to action and combat, lacking only in the lore department. Besides Gehrman(who doesn't really do much besides being creepy and sleeping), we rarely get to know the legends who end up being our final obstacle in souls games, because they're so far beyond ourselves. With Isshin? we get to interact with him as friends quite a bit before meeting him in a duel, which makes the final battle all the more legendary; he respects Sekiro, he knows him, and he sees him as an equal. Only one to come close would be, precisely, Gehrman, and i would be willing to give it to him if he had a bit more dialogue.

First things first. Nice list and a lot of agreement from my side. For me Sir Alonne ist one of best bosses overall. His moves, the arena, background story and this "secret" seppuku death animation, if you manage to flawlessly kill him. But actually the Fume Knight is the final boss of the Crown of the Old Iron King DLC and could also fit in this list, i guess.

For me it would of been radagon if not for elden beast lol. Best final boss is tie between Gherman or Soul of cinder. Reason why I still consider Gherman a great final boss despite moon presence being boring is because moon presence tho its not great doesn't ruin the experience where elden beast does its the 2nd worst boss in the game.

Not really a final boss but it was my final boss for Bloodborne, beat him last in the DLC, Laurence first Vicar is IMO the hardest boss in that game, at first you think its just a Cleric Beast (full circle) but then you fight it and you realize you this is no walk in the park. Has incredible amounts of health and many of its attacks will one shot you. Second phase demands good positioning so you dont get surrounded by lava.

I think Mergo's Wet Nurse is there because you technically don't _have_ to fight Gehrman, so if you submit your life, that would make Wet Nurse the final boss you fight in that playthrough.

Don't hate me, but Elden beast is like a mid C. Radagon is a high A imo. Elden beast might be the most disappointing final boss in recent games. After u play DS3, BB, Sekiro, then go to elden ring and get THAT thing as a final boss. Just running around dodging Projectiles? that's it? Praying for a fight as cool as Gael or Isshin in the DLC

I always thought of the parry for gwyn as a window to heal yourself, more than a cheese strat, that way you can create an opening to breathe in the middle of the battle, the time is just enough to use the estus and go back to fighting

Your explanation of Orphan of Kos is the reason I don’t like Bloodborne People overhyped it, everyone everywhere was saying the same shit, that Bloodborne is an S Tier game, Bloodborne is a perfect game, Bloodborne is a masterpiece Well I played it, and I can confidently say that it’s not a masterpiece, it’s not a perfect game For one thing, the only bosses I found difficult were the ones I either couldn’t parry, were too fast to easily parry, or just had confusing animations I failed to get down, in other words Ebrietas, Mergo’s Wet Nurse and Gehrman, but everything else was just so easy, then the level design disappointed me beyond what I expected (except Yharnam, Yharnam was beautifully horrific and horrifically beautiful), the enemies were so easy to beat that practically everywhere became a farming spot and not an actual challenge The only things I enjoyed were three bosses, the music, and the boss designs Guys, don’t overhype things, when expectations get too high it becomes impossible for the game to live up to those expectations Now if anyone’s wondering, no, I didn’t try the DLC, and I don’t want to DLC is extra content, I’m mainly here for the base game, and if a game can only be saved by a DLC, it isn’t worth it in my opinion
