Welcome to yet another part of my SpongeBob project! I plan on reviewing every SpongeBob episode ever, to determine which episodes and seasons are good, and which are pure ScumBob. In this video I review all 47(!) episodes in the sixth season, which includes giving fun facts, highlights, quotes, and a definitive answer as to weather I find it Good, Meh, or ScumBob. In addition, I talk about my favorite episodes in the season, and give some general notes, stats, and facts. It's a REALLY REALLY long ride, so grab a box of SpongeBob cereal and enjoy this video!

I’ve noticed that Season 6 was the height of StalkerBob CreeperPants, the season that most prominently showed SpongeBob being obsessed with Squidward to a borderline psychotic degree. “Boating Buddies”, “Choir Boys”, “Squid’s Visit”, and (to a lesser extent) “Cephalopod Lodge”, all heavily lean into this flanderized aspect of SpongeBob’s personality and I guess if any good came from “Squid’s Visit”, it’s that the writers could no longer “top themselves” when it came to SpongeBob's obsession about his neighbor and thus had no option but dial it back, and we are all grateful for it XD

Odd, a lot of people like Suction Cup Symphony (including myself oddly enough) because it's actually funny and Squidward actually has something good happen to him in the end. Also, Patrick isn't a total jerk in this episode, an issue he has throughout the rest of the season.

The only negative I see from Squidward's part is his egotistical personality. Regardless if he's going for an audition or not, he always acts like he's some kind of prodigy, when he's just a hack trying to get his foot in the door. Having a little bit of humility wouldn't kill him. Humble yourself, do some ACTUAL practice and maybe, just MAYBE, he could have some form of talent. But I'm not going to give Spongebob a pass for this. Squidward might be a talent-less hack that's full of himself, but it doesn't give Spongebob any right to act the way he did in this episode.

Man watching this this again after not watching it for 4 years makes me feel really nostalgic not just for the video, but for spongebob as a whole. Since this is the season that was airing (along with season 7-9) that I watched as a kid and loved almost every episode. Every episode he reviewed rushed back memories of that episode. I know people hate these seasons but I just can’t hate the episodes I watched so much and loved as a kid.

I'd like to propose an idea here. I imagine that Choir Boys was initially conceived as being similar to Employee of the Month, where SpongeBob and Squidward learn about an open call for a choir men group and they fiercely compete with each other to see who gets there first and claims the spot, all while trying to hinder the others' progress. All the moments with SpongeBob trying to stop Squidward from getting there seem like remnants of the idea where one tries to hinder the other, but was accidentally left in during the production. As for the mouth spray & throat clearing gags and the pimples, I'm sure that the crew didn't intend them to be as long, overused or grotesquely disgusting as they came out, but it's likely that they were pressed for time and couldn't go back to fix them up. Overall, while it may seem far-fetched, it is entirely possible that that's what could've happen behind the scenes of this episode.

The triple scumbob explosion PIEGUY had on Choir Boys is how I feel about Cephalopod Lodge. Also, "Maybe Season 7 will be better?" PIEGUY, PIEGUY, PIEGUY. Season 6 is Season 2 compared the horrible things that await in Season 7.

My opinion on season 6 is that up until the splinter, it feels like a mediocre extension of season 5, but after that it’s like “What follows next is a less than brief scumbob montage” that isn’t finished until late season 8. But yeah, nothing in season 6 is REALLY bad until the splinter.

That's what I feel, especially because Krabby Road, Suction Cup Symphony, and Not Normal are my favorite episodes of the season, and honestly they wouldn't have feel outta place had they been put into Season 5, but once it hits The Splinter/Slide Whistle Stooges it goes downhill completely from there. To me, The Splinter is the beginning of the dark era of SpongeBob. It's especially obvious midway into season 6 I'd say starting with SpongeBob Vs The Big One the episodes just begin to have such a different feel and tone to them compared to Seasons 1-5.

Seeing the Trash Seasons Here's the best to Worst Season 6 Season 8 Season 7

I totally agree with you on "No Hat for Pat": it's a really great episode, and a morality tale told right that hits all the right notes, where the villains receive proper comeuppance proportional to their actions (Krabs was willing to torture Patrick to make money, he loses all of his money; Squidward was all too happy to push Patrick off a dangerous high dive, and he ends up going off of it himself). I'd sort of like to see a Spongey Bits on this episode, even though you gave it a pretty thorough review here. Another strong theme I felt in this episode was respect, or the perception of it. As you said, the Krusty Krab hat was a status symbol to Patrick, a mark of accomplishment and fulfillment. He respected and admired SpongeBob for having it, and was also jealous (but not intolerably so) that he did. He makes the right call in trying to earn one himself, but the thing that earns it for him is something that, incidentally, means he has earned no one's respect. He's a mockery. But because he has the hat, he stupidly (in a sad way) doesn't understand that it doesn't mean what he hopes it would. I also think the one character in this episode that does respect Patrick is SpongeBob. He is the only one who knows Patrick's motivations for wanting the hat, and why he's willing to endure so much pain in order to keep it. This is why he is willing to listen to Patrick when he pleads with him not to talk to Mr. Krabs about how he's treating him. He is even willing to leave work early to take Patrick home/to the doctor when he gets a bloody nose, and SpongeBob is a character who treats being late like a cardinal sin and missing any portion of his work day, for any reason, as something he'd rather endure torture himself than do. So when SpongeBob offers to share the hat with Patrick at the end, it's not patronizing to me at all. He's not throwing Patrick a bone or humoring him, he honestly thinks Patrick has earned the right to wear it after all he went through. Patrick earned his respect at the end of the day, and really, in the end, Patrick probably wanted SpongeBob's respect and to see them as equals more than anything else. It's a really solid and, as you said, surprisingly deep episode. Maybe not the most laugh out loud funny or just plain fun to watch, but one worth seeing to show that yeah, the writers ARE capable of depth and meaning, and not necessarily at the expense of the humor.

House Fancy: Meh episode. Squidward at least won in the end, and SpongeBob at least genuinely tried to help Squidward out. There were a few funny jokes, but the toenail scene was a bit much. Krabby Road: Meh episode. Penny Foolish: Scumbob. Mr Krab’s had his worst appearance in this episode, and the editing was deplorable. Nothing was funny about seeing Mr. Krabs going insane over a penny. Nautical Novice-Good episode. I hated the ending though, considering that SpongeBob deserved better after working his ass off. Causing for Mrs. Puff to berate his efforts almost ruined this episode. Spongicus-Good episode. Suction Cup Symphony-Good episode. SpongeBob and Patrick were annoying, but at least their antics actually lead to Squidward winning in the end. It was a pleasant twist, and I found them annoying Squidward to be funny here. Not Normal-Good episode. Gone-Meh episode. The ending was just cruel to SpongeBob, which drags it down. The Splinter-Scumbob, and it’s not even close. Squidward and Patrick were both mean spirited to SpongeBob, exploiting SpongeBob’s misery. Slide Whistle Stooges-Scumbob. There’s nothing redeeming about this episode, and the noise the slide whistles make is nails on chalkboard. A Life in a Day-Good episode. Sun Bleached-Meh. Giant Squidward-Scumbob. No Nose Knows: Meh. Patty Caper: Meh episode. Mr. Krab’s character ruins it, but SpongeBob’s creative theories and his hilarious melodramatic outbursts towards the culprits being it back up. I liked watching him go off on Squidward. Plankton’s Regular: Meh. Boating Buddies: Scumbob. SpongeBob was creepy in this episode, and nothing was funny. The ending was painful to watch. The Krabby Kronicle: Good episode. SpongeBob finally turned against his Krabs. The Slumber Party: Good episode. Grooming Gary: Scumbob. SpongeBob vs the Big One: Meh episode. Porous Pockets: Meh. It borders into Scumbob territory. Choir Boys: Scumbob. Krusty Krushers: Meh episode. The Card: Scumbob. Dear Vikings: Scumbob. Ditchin: Scumbob. Grandpappy the Pirate: Great episode! It was touching to see Mr. Krabs strive to impress a family member for a reason that didn’t involve money for once. I wish more episodes would explore this side of Mr. Krabs’s personality. This season, in my opinion, was where Spongebob really started to suffer from seasonal rot. Seasons 4 and 5 were actually pretty good in my opinion. This season, and the one that follows it, are the low point in Spongebob's run. After that, there began some improvement.

Another major issue with The Card (53:27) that always bugged me: Patrick is a big fan of Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy too. Even if he was stupid, and even if he was being stupid on purpose, he would know the value of that card, and he would treat it right!

Season 6 seems to be the only post first movie season, to be as Krusty Krab focused as the first 3 Seasons. In Seasons 4, 5, 7, 8, & 9, Mr. Krabs appears in more episodes than he used to!

Why does everyone keep asking PIEGUYRULZ to make the Season 7 review? Compared the other seasons of Spongebob, this one has the largest amount of episodes. The more episodes the season has, the harder it is to review them. PIEGUYRULZ is taking as much time as he can to make the review and is trying to add something new to his review and many people are rushing him. If you guys keep rushing him, his review might not be very good. Although he still doesn't like that episode, he said he regreted the way he reviewed Whale of a Birthday in his rant on the episode.

The scene was deleted because the flames seemed like the 9 11 attacks. The toenail scene and the splinter were gross, but I guess not terrible enough to be deleted surprisingly enough. Yeah I don't get it either. Little kids would be terrified. Not only are they gross, but the toenail scene even freaks out adults! I'll say it now. Truth or Square does not need a 123-124. It can take 100 productions but it's still Episode 123. MLP does this with their 2 part premieres and finales but I still count them as one episode and production number since the premiere or finale airs at the end. You know how it feels like close to every joke they go for in this season feels out of steam in multiple regards? I actually get the feeling the crew realized this somewhere down the road, because after the first few episodes of season 7 (which I wouldn't be too surprised if they were actually leftover from this season) you'll find that the show will suddenly take a much more strange and surreal turn. And I mean this in both good and bad ways.

Actually, in Gone, the part where Spongebob starts to fall in love with a boat is a homage to a Stephen King novel called "Christine". In the novel, a man starts to go crazy and falls in love with his car.
