Great video but there’s a lot of picks that I disagree with For California, I feel like you kinda have to split NorCal/the Bay and SoCal. SoCal totally took over the list but the NorCal rap scene is very influential statewide and this is coming from a SoCal dude. For NorCal, I would’ve had E-40, Mac Dre, Too $hort, and 2Pac. For SoCal I would’ve had Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Kendrick Lamar. For Georgia though, not even having T.I. on the Rushmore is a bit crazy to me. He’s been called the Jay-Z of the South for a good reason. Even Lil Jon was huge snub since he was pretty much the godfather of Crunk, which helped solidify Atlanta as a hip hop hub in the early-mid 2000s. And ofc you can’t forget about Ludacris (although he was born in Chicago). Young Thug wasn’t a horrible pick but I’d definitely argue that T.I. deserved to be there over him. Personally I would’ve had T.I., OutKast, Future, and Playboi Carti for GA. Common 1,000,000x deserved to be there for Illinois over Juice WRLD. Chief Keef definitely deserved to be there since he was the first big Drill rapper to come out of the Chi but I’m kinda at a loss why Juice was there. Durk makes sense but Juice (may he rest in peace) was only really popping for about a year and imo wasn’t around long enough to have that big of an impact on the on the state, compared to a guy like E-40 for the Bay Area rap scene (he’s got a street named after him in Vallejo). Common was the first BIG rapper in general to come from Chicago and in a lot of ways kinda helped put the city on in the 90s/00s. Him not being there is a crime. For me I would’ve had Kanye West, Chief Keef, Common, and Lil Durk. Twista is a huge honorable mention behind Durk. Rakim over 50 Cent for NY. All the others are spot on, but Rakim was a pioneer for lyricism in Rap. And guys who pioneered not just subgenres but Hip Hop in general needed honorable mentions at least, such as Grandmaster Flash, Kurtis Blow, Slick Rick, etc. Same goes for NJ where the Sugarhill Gang probably should’ve been on the Mt. Rushmore or at the very least an honorable mention DJ Screw and Geto Boys over Megan Thee Stallion and Nelly for Texas. Geto Boys put Houston on the map and Screw pioneered Houston’s unique style of hip hop (chopped and screwed). Latto moved to ATL from Ohio when she was 2, Wiz Khalifa moved to Pittsburgh as a kid and was only in ND when he was little. Xzibit was originally from Detroit, moved to Albuquerque, then to LA when he was a teen. Latto is definitely an ATL rapper, Wiz is a Pittsburgh rapper, and Xzibit is more of an LA rapper.

Props to you for the amount of research and time you put into this. Great video, fr! But there are some inconsistencies I noticed. Pretty much just with where you consider a rapper to be from. For example, Xzibit was born in Detroit, and according to Wikipedia, the origin of his career was in LA, but you put him down for New Mexico which he was at for his early life. Then he moved to LA in his late teens. And another one is Coi Leray, she was born in Boston and then at some point moved to NJ where she was primarily raised, so I can understand putting her down for NJ. But I just mean, what are the conditions for being considered a rapper FROM whatever state?

MC Jin from Miami Florida should be an honorable mention. Huge pioneer for the asian rap community, you might remember him from 2Fast2Furious, the 106 and Park BET freestyle battles, The first mainstream asian rapper and signed to Ruff Ryders, etc. He was from Miami but his family moved to New York so actually it would make more sense to put him in the New York honorable mentions.
