Used to travel this line in the 1980s on 1st generation dmus. Always enjoyable and hasn't changed that much. Wasn't a passing loop at hairmyres back then

Brilliant video Cyber, the stations on this line do look good. Nice to see some Irn Bru again lol, don't think I've ever had a Scottish pie though.

Came across your video of my local train line, enjoyed the video but at 1:46 it's not the BUSBY junction. That's the junction for the next station KENNISHEAD, which is a different line altogether. Busby is in fact on the same line as THORNLIEBANK, that's the one after POLLOKSHAWS WEST. Anyway, I enjoyed your wee forage into this line. Thornliebank was my local station. Now it's E.K. Cheers Simon.

Excellent video Cyber It's amazing how rural some of those stations look, when you're so close to the centre of Glasgow

I lived in Kilmarnock so part of this line was a line I travelled on regularly, the view after Barrhead going towards Kilmarnock and Beyond is lovely. Although the 156's tend to struggle up the hill from Barrhead to Dunlop.

Just caught your video to my home town. The Hairmyres loop is being extended back towards Glasgow by around 600 metres - so essentially doubling the length of the loop. Overhead masts are now up to around Busby station. Hairmyres (new) has been started - both platforms are now in existence. Track alterations won't start until 2025 to extend the loop through the new station.

It's an awesome line with Superior Super Sprinters! Would be interesting to see the line electrified and the new Hairmyres station put in place! Overall i've enjoyed your latest

Gets a bit old when commuting for a year or so (before WFH was a thing). Blumming freezing in the winter.

The East Kilbride line does have a quaint branchline charm to it.

I think they should reopen the line from Eask Kilbride through to Hamilton, but I think there are some houses on the trackbed.

"Gliffock" lol, I think you mean "Giffnock". I thought the electrification works would be a lot more advanced by now. They have already started testing Class 380s on the line to Barrhead.

In terms of work, only vegetation clearance work has been done, they may have started some piling work

ScotRail should replace the Class 318 and Class 320 with the Class 379 Electrostars as well using the Class 379s to operate to Barrhead and East Kilbride. Or if Hitachi were to build more Class 385s that would include using them on the Barrhead and East Kilbride routes.

Scotrail is reportedly looking at new bi-mode battery EMUs. It’s very unlikely they will pick up the 379s.

East Kilbride line closes in February 2025 until May 2025, when it reopens it should be double lined from the repositioned Hairmyers (glasgow side) until the end of Harmyers loop (EK side). Overhead line should also be installed but no electric service for a couple of years due to no electric seta available.
