Tekken 4 is actually considered by many series fans to be one of the best--even in spite of the things that made T4 frustrating for competitive players. T4 also isn't "clunky and slow"? Honestly, rabbidluigi sounds like he's reading from an AI generated script that scraped the internet and made TL;DR's out of reddit threads without understanding that even with the gripes that people had over T4, most people still enjoyed it. And T4 is the best-selling Tekken in Japan to this day. If the home country for Tekken bought T4 the most out of any other, that means something.

Tekken 4 was way better than you give credit. I did have a blast with Tekken 5, but with the series moving forward in that same direction, I miss the down to earth realistic style of Tekken 4. Also, some characters got heavily nerfed from Tekken 4 to 5, Xiaoyu was a great character in Tekken 3 and 4, but a weak character in Tekken 5 and 6.

4 had the best storytelling of any Tekken game as well. It was the most realized and fleshed out. The story started to get goofy in T5, and it went off the rails by 6. Everything after that is beyond the pale. Tekken 4 in general is one of the best Tekken games. Most actual fans of the series would put 4 above 1, 2, 6, and probably 8.

Good video, though I can't say I agree with a few placements. 6's Story Mode was an elevated form of the Tekken Force in previous numbered titles not Death By Degree (which took its inspiration from Tekken Force too). I love Tag 2 but calling its 60 character roster *balanced* is the last thing anyone would describe it as. 💀And 5/5DR is so rich in content with so many good game modes, that I'm surprised how much lower it is for you. 8 and 3 being Top 2 is respectable. I personally wouldn't put any numbered Tekken below its spin offs besides Tag 1 and 2 being above 4 and 6.

Honestly T2 is one of my favourites. I think his point of T7 was that he felt it was unbalanced and the guest characters didn't fit in all too well. My only issue with 7 was Rage Cinematic attack moves, it slows the game down and can be kinda cheap.

Honorable mention: Pokkén Tournament. Yes it's Pokémon, but the single greatest aspect about the game that was kept hidden under the rug for *half a decade* is that it bleeds the passion of Tekken through its characters. You're never going to see Pokémon look this visually expressive from the sheer amount of references that gives every character a unique personality of their own. Double with the voice acting since it's honestly hard to imagine how something like Sceptile or _Aegislash_ would sound in a fighting game without what others are used to hearing in the anime. Seriously. I have no idea how they managed to pick the right person for the job but they nail it every time. (Well for the Pokémon anyway) Gameplay is unique in it's own way with the honestly overlooked phase shift mechanic that starts off being rewarded for successfully getting in and follows by opening traditional fighting until either side deals enough damage to switch back to field phase. Coupling that with support Pokémon to select for assistance, the combo and setup possibilities for every character are practically endless. One last thing that I personally adore about the phase shift mechanic is how ridiculously generous it is with the amount of time you're given to think of your next move. This alone completely separates Pokkén Tournament from every other fighting game in existence. Oh and synergy burst? Please do not even get me started. It is just flat out *epic.* Same with the soundtrack. Just... MMPH! *chefs kiss* Unfortunately Pokkén suffers _tremendously_ with lack of support and features. Online is pretty good to a fair extent, but the fact that you don't have the option to rematch online or even choose your opponent in friend groups is just asinine. Plus the 2 arenas that are banned in competitive play are also restricted online because of a giant synergy sphere that periodically spawns in the center during field phase and instantly fills your meter. Yeah let's just outright exclude Dark Colosseums online instead of *TURNING OFF THE SPHERE.* Ranking system is an inconvenient pile of shit to even understand, the story is an uninteresting snoozefest that no one cares for, and Nia, your "tutorial instructor" in _both modes_ should not exist at all. Thank God there's an option to disable her completely. Finally there's hundreds of customizations for your avatar, which do look snazzy, but there's _nothing_ for the actual Pokémon characters. Which is a *HUGE* disappointing missed opportunity. _We don't talk about that empty character slot._ It may have its short comings and lack of basic fighting game menu assets (and lack of value with what IS present for that matter), but Pokkén Tournament is overall an astonishingly creative and engaging fighting game experience that's surprisingly easy to get into. The community is small but ungodly loyal enough to show how much praise and acknowledgment the game really deserves more of. It still remains as my favorite game on the Switch for granting the childhood wish for an intense, jam packed with action Pokémon fighting game people have always dreamed of. It *NEEDS* a sequel.

Tekken x Street Fighter... man what a missed opportunity. They pumped SO much money into the advertizing that the only way it would have been profitable would have been if all their DLC plans paid out and they made super-bank. And they were even warned that the DLC would be revealed through hacks and all they had to say in response was a baffled "but people can't do that, that's illegal" and they shut down all conversation with that. We could have had something so much better... Though from what I have heard the content that was DLC was budgeted as DLC from the start- it was essentially ALWAYS gonna be stuff that was developed later on, but Capcom had taken all the wrong lessons from it's DLC plans for MvC3 crashing and burning when the 2011 tsunami hit and forced them to cut the work short due to much of it's workforce having to leave to take care of family, meaning they had to cut down on the amount of extra characters and cease work on the plans to release it as online DLC the way we do now, and instead just release a new version 11 months later. So they basically pumped money into the game to have extra people on deck to make sure the DLC was practically done by the time the actual game was done- essentially spending the budget that would have gone into paying the regular dev team to stay on and work on the game's DLC after the game went gold, on instead having extra hands make the DLC and then simply wait until the time was right and unlock it then and there- no fuss, no muss! Was how they THOUGHT everything would go... oh, how they THOUGHT...

Oh come on, SFxTK is sold fun-ass tag-based crossover Capcom fighting game. Yeah, sure, the Gems and the on-disc DLC sucked but it was still a game that had a LOT of passion put into it to just call it "mediocre." Not to mention that they did a pretty damn good job translating the Tekken characters in a SF engine, way better than what Namco did with Akuma when they plopped him into Tekken 7. Seriously, it has better presentation and even better advertising campaing than most fighting games nowadays, this is just being unfair to it.

I'm sorry, but every Tekken after 5, gets docked big time for removing team battle mode. The 8 v 8 matches had so many memorable, awesome situations, and constantly switching up characters made the game so much fun. Today's focus on online fighting, and 1 v 1 being your only option is just so lame. From what I've seen, Tekken 8 does look great... With the caveat being, IF, and ONLY if, you're big into online play (or if you're just casually playing with friends I guess). For serious tournaments, team battle is REQUIRED. It doesn't matter how good you are with your best character, if you only ever use 1 or 2 characters, that's super boring and samey. And the online playing is awful, unless you're playing with friends. All the "best" players do, is learn how to never let their opponent ever be able to do anything. Not in a skillful, outplay you kind of way, but in a "you can never land or never stand" kind of way. For all their innovations and improvements to 7 & 8, they all amount to nothing for players like me. Simply re-adding team battle would make the game a million times better, but without it, it's not even worth playing IMO.
