Wonderful to hear about the most recent version of the RØDE Central App. I'm not sure if the E-mail notifications are working as I am not receiving the emails about a new version. I'm sure the team is working on it, but hopefully the App can just auto update instead of needing to download each new version manually. Hey hey again YoungBlaze! This doesn't technically have an official way to monitor. Some people use a headphone duplicator and have one plugged into the camera and the other plugged into headphones, sometimes with a volume booster because a Mic level is a lower output than a Line output.

I have a question, can you clarify, at around 10:30 you talk about "Merged Mode" and "Safety Channel". When using these two how does transmitters recordings are effected? If I clipped while in the merged mode and the safety channel is activated, what do transmitters record and where do I get the clipped track and the "safe" track?
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey Aydın! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! The transmitters recordings are not affected as the safety channel is on the receiver end. If you clip while in merged mode with the safety track activated. Your camera has 2ch stereo. Your left channel will be clipped, but your right one will be recording at a lower dB value so you can recover the "clipped" audio on the camera side. If you have internal recording activated at the same time, you have another safety track per TX (so to speak) assuming the sound wasn't so loud that it clipped the internal recording, you have another track to pull from if you so choose. Hope this makes sense. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

You spoke pretty positively about Comica’s BoomX D dual wireless system a year-ish ago. Because of you and our conversations I purchased it. It has been good and enjoyed it. So thank you very much. I’ve even used an adapter to usb-c on the Comica mics and it has done well with a laptop over zoom. However, just like rode did to answer deity’s v-mic d3 by coming out with the NTG they seem to have done so plus some (app, firmware, different hertz, internal audio, safety track, etc) with the new wireless 2. Going back down to basics of audio... what do you think of the sound difference between the two mic systems, and their wireless reliability? Your statements in this video are pretty clear. Of all the pro budget lines the wireless 2 really takes the cake. However I’m still curious since you did say positive things about what Comica did a year ago yet did not include them (and yeah there have been so many iterations since rode’s 1st one came out). Is the comica boomx dual wireless on par sound wise, and does it matter given all the other added features this new wireless 2 gives you?
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey again Jarrad! The reason I did not include the Comica XD is because they were beat out by the Saramonic Blink 500 Pro approx 4 months ago in the 2.4ghz dual TX space. As far as sound, there is indeed a difference between the two, mainly that the BoomXD has a default Low Cut Filter on by default that can't be turned off. However if you have a low bassy voice, this works in your favor versus my voice that benefits from the RODE GO II lift in the bass sound. My thoughts on the Comica Boom XD at the time, of course, is based on no one else coming into the market with those set of features. So at the time it was the best competitor against the RODE GO at that price point and value. Especially with a little EQ the Boom XD could match the sound. I would say this, if the Boom XD is currently serving your needs and you have not had any limitations because of it. Then theres really no reason to rush out and upgrade. Because you'd be upgrading for no real reason. The "Think Critically" video I talked about in this video and linked is where my thought processes is coming from. Don't buy things on the "off chance" you may need it, because you'd be wasting more money just to feel safe. Instead buy what you know you need or upgrade to solve a problem. Hope this makes sense and helps!

Thanks for the review. I've going to be recording some noisy race cars and wonder if this unit is up to the task. I'm interested in the transmitter "Safety Channel" and wondered what kind of db pad was incorporated in it? Don't want these loud race cars to clip the audio constantly...so have a back safety channel sounds interesting.
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey Checkered Flag Films! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! The new firmware updates for the RODE GO II added a "pad" feature for the TX for exactly that purpose of super loud sounds. The PAD is done at the mic-input level, not the RX output level, I can't remember if that pad is -15db or -20db. The safety channel is done at the output level of the RX and not at the mic level, so that PAD feature is what you'll want to use. Otherwise if the mic clips, the safety channel on the RX isn't going to help. TLDR: Us the TX PAD feature, you can still use the safety channel with it too just incase your cameras preamp setting was too hot for certain shots. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

Smh...do you the blink 500pro will be able to implement firmware updates? I purchased the blink500 pro 2 the first day it was released. Also in your test which is more reliable/less dropouts, the go 2 or the 500pro 2? Deciding if I should get the go 2 to have along with the blink 500pro 2. Again I appreciate your time and the effort you put into doing your reviews/test! I do respect your views and recommendations...they have all work out great for me...from gh5 accessories to audio...many blessings! Peace
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey again Emind7! There could be potential for Saramonic to do firmware updates, they just need to develop the program. However this is dependent on how do they use the Micro USB on the TX and RX. If it's only power delivery with no data delivery, then they cant. The RODE has less dropouts as it's signal is much stronger, but during my bottom line point. The key is that RODE has the internal recording you never have to worry about drop outs if it happens. This is the key feature why I feel they are the only choice to buy as of early 2021. If you pair this up with my battery test, compressed recording only lowered the battery life by 10 minutes or so from max, so as long as you leave that on, you'll always be able to recover audio if you need it.

Hi! First of all I want to compliment you! In my opinion you are a TOP KZbinr! Few cuts, excellent hand movements, impeccable framing and perfect lights! VERY VERY GOOD!!! And now my problem... THE SAFETY CHANNEL! Let me start by saying that I have the WirelessGO II for few days... I'd like confirmation on what I've noticed that is, when I record the audio using the minijack (for example if I record on my Zoom) the safety channel works correctly WHILE When I record a video on my iPhone 12 Pro Max, using the Rode SC15 cable, THE AUDIO HAS NO SAFETY CHANNEL!!! This, in my opinion, is a serious programming error!!! Do you agree with that???
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey Tex! Thank you so much for checking out this video, the much kind words, and asking a question! This is completely normal for the iphone in that if you are using the built in video app, it records a dual mono signal from any microphone you plug into it. Which mean, you will never hear the safety channel because it is premixed into both L and R channels. I can't confirm if this is true if you used the app "filmic pro" where it does seem to show two stereo channels in your audio meters. You may need to google search to see if FilmicPro allows for true stereo recording instead of the Apple Iphone Video App that does dual mono by default. All's to say is, what you're experience on the iphone right now is normal, some action cameras also just have one channel of audio that then gets dual mono'd out. Hope this helps! First off, I love the format. Answers first, explanations later. Alos very impressed at how exhaustive your testing was since it answered a lot of questions I had. At the end of this you had convinced me not to put off buying a set when my tax return comes. There is however one tiny question mark sticking around that did not get answered in this: When using this with an external recorder using the supplied 3.5 to 3.5 TRS cable the lack of shielding in the recorder often results in a severe whine, this is solved by a stereo to double mono splitter and two xlr adapters (all from rode in the video I saw), the question left however is if it would work with an existing stereo TRS to dual XLR-cable. Maybe not your wheelhouse but that was the only question I didn't get an answer to. Thanks for a great and easily digested video. oh and of course I subscribed.
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey djeeno! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! I think this all ultimately comes down to your recorder if the shielding in the recorder is the problem. I personally have not run into any RF problems with any cable, splitter, and Dual XLR stereo cables going into my Tascam DR40 (used in this videos tests) And these cables are all either the companies own brand or a very cheap off-brand from Amazon. I've heard the earlier Zoom recorders had the RF problem with these 2.4ghz wireless audio systems, Id imagine their newer ones don't. Thanks again for stopping by! Hey hey Thundercatsie! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! The test you're looking for is my Wifi Simulation Test were you took a bunch of other wireless microphone transmitters and placed it near the RODE GO II to simulate just how much will break the system. Generally speaking it looks like the RODE GO II can handle a lot in that it needs the wifi signal to be right next within 4 inches to get it mess with it own signals. When you're in a large open space with wifi around but neither of them are near the TX or RX, you should be fine. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

The only way to minimize it was to use a 6feet extension cable to move the transmitter further away. I believe those mics were not designed to be plugged into a wireless transmitter, where as the new RODE Videomic GO II and Videomic NTG I reviewed can handle it. If you haven't already definitely check out my review on the Videomic GO II, its a great inbetween the Micro and Videomic NTG. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJ60Y3h6lLmCb6s Hope this helps! I got all excited when you started the segment on drift between transmitters because I really wanted to know this but then you didn't really stress test them. I do half hour interviews all the time with 2 lapel mics. If I were to get the 2 internal recordings what would the drift between them be in samples at 48kHz? Even a very small drift is very noticeable especially if one person is a loud talker and their voice ends up in both mics/channels.

And they need to update the app so you can just batch output all the audio files off transmitter in one go.
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey Jesse! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! Sorry I didn't stress test that far, I reasoned that if someone was to use the internal recording its only to recover something that was lost instead of someone using it as the primary source of audio for a 30 minute take. At that point it makes more sense just to get a dedicated recorder if the audio is just going to replace the camera audio. The dedicated recorder will have a much better setup of tools since you can't change anything on the TX in terms of its gain, limiter, etc etc, it really just a backup incase something terrible happens. Hope that makes sense why I didn't stress is that far. That's a great recommendation for the app to Batch export! Hope that does come in the future. Especially cause right now you can only "marker" a internal recording from the RX. I would love it from the RX when you press the Ø button that it creates a new internal file instead of just having a large one. Thanks again for stopping by! @@TLDR_filmmaker Thanks for the reply mate. really appreciated it. Recording on the talent without any wireless transmission and extra analogue to digital conversion etc will all ways get you the quietest and cleanest recording which is why I was excited to see it on the Go II. You just also need some wireless transmission to monitor to make sure you the signal is still getting through and there's no noise from the lapel you don't want. The tentacle sync track e is great in that it records onboard and has a really accurate clock but you can't remotely monitor the audio so you'll want know if someone has accidentally ripped the mic cable out etc. So the on board recording on the Go II looks great on paper but if there's too much drift between units then it's not as useful as it could be.

If you’re using it as a single creator, merged it, where should the other transmitter be placed (like if I am walking vlogging, the transmitter used being clipped in and the receiver in my camera or iphone)?

Hey hey Al! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! If you are a single creator and you don't need the sound from the second transmitter. Simply don't turn it on, you do not need to use both at the same time all the time, keep it in merge mode when just using one transmitter. If you do want to use a second one for additional sounds while vlogging... I'm not sure you really need it? Though I'm not a vlogger so I don't know what your needs for additional sounds would be. Hey hey xFr3sh_DEEZYx! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! I'm honestly not sure in terms of mic'ing someone up for basketball. If you're going to clip it to his jersey or pants, with how twisty and shifty basketball can be, I can see it just getting a bunch of rustling sounds and possibly pop off. If you are planning to wire up the play, I can see the results being even worse as you will need to really tape up the player so that the wire stays put on their body while still giving enough slack that they can move freely. When it comes to sports sounds you hear on TV, they are using Parabolic dish microphone setups to get the sounds. Some NFL will mic up QB's but they have all the padding on where they can really support the mics. Basketball attire is just way to open and loose. Hope this makes sense. Fantastic review and testing of this kit, it really helped me in the decision to purchase it. I'm a freelance sound recordist and boom operator, and I bought the RODE Wireless Go II kit for a specific need. Recording atmos/soundscape on set can be difficult, especially if you need anywhere from a minute to a few minutes of silence to capture it. But you can't get around it; the soundscape on set is unique to that location, time and weather. For example, if an airplane is passing overhead, the Doppler effect created is almost impossible to recreate in post. Therefore I bought this kit to be my always-present atmos capture. I can pop these on a small stand in A/B somewhere discrete, and during the take when the set is generally silent I get the exact atmos for that take. It makes post happy, it makes the director happy as he/she can hear a nice mix during the take, and it means I've got an extra pair of lavs if things turn for the worst. This is the cheapest and most convenient all-in-one system money can buy for this purpose. As a professional, if I was to purchase these for use on talent, I would love locking TRS sockets. The thought of the lav accidentally unplugging mid-take is terrifying and is what mainly puts me off using them for their intended purpose, but I know they're not designed for people with my requirements.

Yes, you most likely need RODE's official cable if your phone does not have TRRS port or if you don't have a TRRS port adapter+ a TRS to TRRS cable. I own both the PicoMic and the Wireless Go II and yesterday I used the Go II for the first time filming three interviews. I have to say that I really was impressed with the quality of the audio from the Go II. While I LOVE the small form factor of the PicoMic and the fact that it's not very noticeable when attached to the speaker, I always notice a slight digital tinge to the audio. I'm not sure how to describe what I mean, but it always bothered me a little bit. I did have some hardware issues, but PicoGear's customer service was superb and they resolved my problems by sending me replacement hardware! I ended up buying the Go II mainly for the on board recording capability. The Go II's audio was, to my ears, much better than the PicoMic, but this may be due to the fact that I was using the Rode Lavalier Go with it. Either way, I was pleasantly surprised by how good it sounded. However, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. I should first mention that I have the latest firmware on the transmitters and receiver. I also have the latest version of RODE Central. I have the transmitters set to record to internal memory and the first issue occurred with the audio quality set to Uncompressed and the second issue was with the audio quality set to Compressed. The first issue occurred two days ago when I recorded some tests and connected both transmitters to my computer and RODE Central. For one of them, I got an error message that read "Error mounting mass storage." After disconnecting and reconnecting the transmitter a few times, I was still getting the same message. I then disconnected and tried powering up the transmitter and it wouldn't power on no matter how long I held the power button. I reconnected the transmitter to the computer (still getting error message), changed the audio quality setting from Uncompressed to Compressed, disconnected it from the computer, and was finally able to power it on. I don't know if it was that change that helped or if it just decided to power on. I recorded a few more tests, reconnected, and was finally able to access the recordings. The second issue wasn't noticed until I got home after my shoot yesterday and connected the transmitter to my computer. I had filmed three separate interviews. The audio recording for the first two interviews were there, but the third one wasn't. It never recorded even though the receiver showed that it was recording. Fortunately, the receiver was connected to my camera and I got the audio, but this is really worrisome because the whole purpose of being able to record to the transmitter is in case you have some glitch in your camera audio. And my experience right out of the gate is I can't rely on the transmitter's ability to record the audio to its internal memory every time which, like I said earlier, is the reason I bought this mic. Anyone else experience any of these two issues?

Hey hey Embracing Dyslexia! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! Your sound comparison is plenty sufficient there. I think this is finally a 2.4Ghz system I can feel good purchasing.
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey again Alan! They key point about the original in the test is that I oriented the RX to be vertical and not horizontal like it would naturally. When you have it in this configuration the RX is able to grab a better signal. It's really only good if you are a 1ch user. I really really want to figure out how to do a frequency response comparison it would be much most objective than to use my voice which is more mid heavy and grumbly. But other than that, yea, RODE came to play hard after watching the competition for 2 years. They came in with no punches pulled!
@alantuttphotography3 жыл бұрын
@@TLDR_filmmaker That's right, you did mention that you altered the orientation. And yes, this probably accounts for a good portion of the increased range. As far as doing a frequency test, you might have to connect the output of your computer to the mic-in jack of the transmitter, then do a frequency sweep in a DAW. The volume recorded out of the receiver throughout the sweep would give a good picture of the frequency response of the system. Even better if you could record the DAW output on the same recorder as the received signal, then you have a clear reference of the original source. Again, you really don't need to do this type of test, but it would be another detail unique to your channel.

Hi thanks for the reply, i have the latest software download i bought the go 2 specifically to record separate tracks on the transmitters, but my first video i set them to uncompressed and of course you could only get a 7 minute track which wasnt much use as my video was 30 minutes long so i had to use the audio of my gopros which was naff and spoiled the video, i reported this to Rode and then the update came out a few days later which i thought had solved the problem, but just to be sure i plugged the receiver into my zoom fp as a back up, but they record to the fp but dont store a back up track on each device, which again is mildly annoying as otherwise its a brilliant product 😎

Could Rode Wireless Go II possibly replace some of the USB condenser microphones such as Blue Yeti Nano or Rode NT-USB Mini for voice-over purposes or streaming? Or would you still recommend picking up a cardioid pattern microphone even when you already have RODE Wireless Go II? I am having this question because the sound quality of this video is very good.
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey Ak! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! This really depends on your preference as both will perform and do the job, the only major difference is that the USB cardioid mics will do better if there are other ambient noises in or outside the room and you will have a much better full sound because of the larger capsule. If you already have the RODE GO II and it does decently well for what you need, theres no rush to get a dedicated mic for VO and streaming right away, take your time and perhaps you'll find a great deal on a used USB mic. Agreed. Rode destroyed the competition when the mark II came out. I'm so glad I sold my old ones in order to buy these. I've been using the RWG II with the RODE mic Go for all my latest videos and I think it sounds great. I concur that this is the system to buy. Another great comparison video! ;)

Hey hey again Steven! Absolutely, it's going to be very hard for any budget 2.4ghz systems to compete with them now because I feel most of them just won't have the internal recording and if they did it will be limited and even then it probably won't be as full featured with firmware upgrades. RØDE has stomped their foot down and now we look to Zoom and others to see if they are going to attempt to bring a fight at this price level. We shall see!

Hey, great video! Can I ask, how does this compare to the Movo WMX-20 DUO? I like the fact that the Movo comes with 2 lav mics (I would definitely want to buy 2 lav mics to use with the Rode which obviously increases the overall price) and that they have the locking mechanism. Or do you think the lack of locking mechanism on the Go II is less of an issue when compared to most wireless transmitters because it's so small and light? Also, the whole Movo kit is only $200. Any thoughts would be really appreciated :)

Hey hey Calum! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! I unfortunately don't know as I have not reviewed the Movo. I personally have not had much problems when it comes to a system that doesn't have the locking system. It's definitely nice to have, but I feel thats probably in some extreme cases where it would save a recording. By chance did you test to see if you could individually adjust the volume of each transmitter? I know you can mute them individually & within Rode Central you can change the way you increase/reduce the volume gain but for the life of me I cant figure out how to individually adjust the volume of each transmitter. It only seems to adjust both at the same time which kind of defeats the purpose if 1 persons voice is louder/softer than the other. I cant see why it wouldn't be able to be done so I must be doing something wrong. I know the Lark 150 offers it on their receiver but it actually has knobs for each channel where you control the volume so hoping the GO II can do the same somehow.
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey again Voiceless Media TV! I'm just copy and pasting this other response just incase someone passes this comment. In terms of volume control of each TX. Generally speaking based on my observation. RODE has an interesting algorithm for their AGC when you set the output dB. When you look at the sound bars, even if you are talking softly, it will boost the sound in a way to keep you in the green at the verge of yellow. I think the output dB is more for its max signal going into your recorder or camera. Because no matter how loud you yell, if you set it at lower dB, your recorder or camera won't go past a certain point. I think the only way you could really run into trouble with not having vol adjustments between the two TX is if one person literally whispers while the other one speaks boldly. Otherwise in a normal talking situation, the RODE AGC should do well in keep both leveled decently.

Great review. Thank you for doing this! Question...So can I take 2 sets of wireless Go 2’s and combine the receivers into one camera? (So I could have 4 guests mic’d for a single camera video setup)
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey Brandt! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! You can, however I would not necessarily recommend this route depending on what you're going for. Because if one of the talents on the LEFT channel coughs or breaths loudly, you have no way of editing that out in post. Where as if you only did the regular stereo split, you can silence the cough or breathing in whatever channel they are in (LEFT or RIGHT). But if you are in a super pinch and it doesn't really bother you. Yes you can do this. Simply make sure both RX is set to Mono mode, use a headphone duplicator cable like this: geni.us/pfB0BZ8 and plug it into the camera. The trick part is of course to make sure both RX is as far away as possible. Another possibility is to make sure all your TX are in internal recording mode. You can then audio sync all 4 internal recordings and edit the audio that way for the best clean 4 ch audio video. Hope this helps. Thanks again for stopping by! @TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey Mark! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! So glad you got value from this video! As for a USB mic plugged into the TX. My guess is, "no", as there most likely isn't a protocol in the TX to look for a mic via the USB. However that's not to say it can't be done because the data channels are open for you to export internal recordings. This could potentially be firmware upgrade, but probably only once RODE creates their own USB-C lav mic or mic series. Thanks again for stopping by! I see you got a Jeti (ubs mic?) mic in the back perhaps you could find some time and give it a try when you own a usb c to usb a adapter. :) My doubt is that the power consumption from the usb mic is too high and the rode Transmitter can’t deliver the power that is needed to record. how about being able to adjust the gain of each of the transmitters, separately. I understand you can't adjust them at all actually. so if you are running two and one person has a much louder voice there is no way to adjust for this....vs the lark 150 where you can adjust each one separately right on the receiver. would still love to get a set of these for what I do (travel show, interviews and run and gun, vlogs etc)
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey Explore Travel TV! Thank you so much for checking out this video and commenting! As of right now there is no way to adjust each transmitters volume, however I am not really worried about it as RODE AGC algorithm is quite good. I think the only time it will be a problem is if someone purposely whispers while talking. Generally speaking even if someone is a softer talker, the RODE will adjust a little bit to bring it up even if the initial DB is set. It's hard to explain but RODE does seem to be doing a little magic with its levels. Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

I want to send all four voices to the house speakers, and simply run an output from the board to the camera for video or livestream audio. In your experience would this work?
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey Matthew! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! While I have not specifically done this setup, I don't see why it wouldn't work. The only thing you need to be considerate of is that run a longer cable from the two RX into the sound board (Stereo Splitter of course) so that you can move the RX's away from each instead of keeping it near each other at the board. That should lower any chances of the two RX interfering with each others signal. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

Hey hey Mooogamad! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! If I don't need 400 feet of range (and can afford the extra $80), do you think there is any reason to consider the Comica BoomX U over the Rode Wireless Go II? In a conference room setting… with a lot of people on WiFi will the UHF of the Comica be a factor? Those In-transmitter recordings look pretty compelling.
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey Tom! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! One of the main things I'd ask first is how many wireless mics are you wanting to use. If it was just two Boom XU, I'd say they are fine and you'd save an extra 80 bucks. Plug the Boom XU into a usb battery bank if you need the extra battery power in the conference. If you are needing more than two setups, thats where I'm not sure how the Boom XU will perform in that it the two RX's will interfere with each other. The RODE is definitely smaller and easier to clip onto somebody if that is your main type of use in the conference room setting. And of course that in-transmitter recording is a great safety net incase anything should happen like: - RF interference - External recorder or DSLR camera battery dies for whatever reason, You at least still have audio recording in the transmitter. Those are my thoughts between the two. If you're really hard pressed for cash, the Boom XU is a great kit and performs very well for its price range. But if you can swing it, knowing you have an internal recording no matter what happens. Even if you've already cut the camera and you're walking up to the person to take off the mic. The presenter may say a piece of gold that you can use still (even though its not caught on camera, you still have the audio). Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! You compared it to the saramonic and Holly land. But what about the comica products ... the Boom xd or uhf versions?
@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey again Russell! The reason I did not add the XD and XU into the mix is because of the following. The Blink 500 Pro, in my opinion and tests, has beaten the XD so I no longer recommend the XD as an option to consider. The XU is a 500mhz system which I feel isn't necessarily on the same playing field against the more international available 2.4ghz standard. The XU really is only clear for usage in the USA and no where else. As of this moment the RODE GO II is the no brainer against all of the current Wireless solution in this price tier. The internal recording renders all others not as desirable. It also still wins on the technical front in terms of battery life, size, and audio quality that works in various locations. That being said it's going to be a very interesting 2021 as other companies look to compete on the same feature set. However I feel Deity may be the only one with the means to pull it off. I don't know if Saramonic and Comica can bypass the US patent that has caused this internal recording feature not to be available in the US. RODE got around it, I suspect it is because they developed their own proprietary internal recorder file and code, then used a computer app to convert it into a MP3 and WAV.

Aweome video! Truly is! Buuut i still have three questions: - i have Zoom F6 with 32-bit float for safety on some locations, can this GO II. safely transmit that much data for full 32-bit setup on the recorder side?A - if i need to be an xlr output (because of F6 and with monitoring 32-bit float), can i just setup GO II. For two track recording and have it pluged in via stereo jack/2xlr mono splitter (for ex. Procab CLA712)? - i still have rode videomaker kit and it has battery that i can change, so jump on this is juicy, but how long i need to recharge to have at least another big chunk of recording life? Or full? It has some fast charging or something via original usb-c and fast charging pack on location? Or it will be too long so... just buy two or more just because of this to have full 8-10h day recording.

Hey hey Michal! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking some questions! 1) Probably not because the RODE GO is doin it's own calculations to not clip out. If it does clip out I'd imagine your F6 will just have the clip sound too. So perhaps you'll purposely have the Gain stage the RODE lower. But that being said it may still clip at the mic level depending on the lav you are using. 2) Yes, using an 3.5mm to stereo XLR splitter will give you the 2 tracks when you are in split mode on the RODE receiver. 3) There isn't any quick charge as far as I know because it charges at 5v at .3amps, so pretty slow. It seems to take approx 1.5-2 hours to fully recharge. My guess is that if you and the staff break for lunch after having the unit on for 5-6 hours. a 30 minute lunch may give you back about 2 hours of use time approx, an hour lunch would be best to get through the rest of the day. The safe side is to have two units, but I know thats not practical. Hope this helps! Thanks again for stopping by! Stay safe, healthy, and I’ll see you in the next one!

@TLDR_filmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Hey hey CMV Factory! Thank you so much for checking out this video and asking a question! This is going to depend on your use case since the Sony can use AA batteries. So if you are usually on very long shoots, the AA battery can be helpful to quickly swap and keep going. However you can get two sets of RODE GO II for the same price as one Sony. So if you do need to swap a charged set of RODE GO II you can, or you can end up using 4 channels of audio (with RX further apart). The golden winner here is that there is a recorded safety track. In my opinion this feature is extremely valuable for any filmmaker with any sort of wireless audio setup. Knowing you will have a backup copy no matter what happens is a great safe net. While I haven't personally used my RODE GO II for a narrative film yet because of the world situation. I definitely will be using them because of the backup feature. If you are a filmmaker on a budget, I feel the RODE GO II is still one of the best current wireless options available for the price, outside of having a boom operator using a Comica VM20.
