@tiffanymichaels2429

Oh even in the rurals you can get bad neighbors. Just ask my mom and papa. Their neighbor wanted to turn their property next to my mom's into a gravel pit. My mom refused to sign off on that. Their was a city and county meeting. Of course without my mom and papa signing off on that a variance wasn't granted to the neighbors. They have since become a nightmare. They have purposefully dug up big holes and removed all the trees in the adjoining property and made everything ugly as possible. Of course they don't actually live there, they come and go. But when they are around they make the property uglier and uglier. They were able to sell a small portion of their land to a nearby gravel pit since it was far enough away from a residence. It sucks because the property used to be beautiful and filled with wildlife. When they got the place it was cheap. They easily could have turned it around and sold it for a huge profit when the market was hot. Instead they've kept it and destroyed it just to get back at my parents. So rurals can become a nightmare too.

My dad is Henry. He's retired. Speaks to literally everyone on his block for long conversations that they usually don't want to have. He recently saw that our neighbors son's car's registration had expired...he wrote their parents a note and put it in their mailbox letting them know this. On the other hand, on back of me, my neighbors literally had to call the cops because one refused to cut down the tree that was on the fence hanging a bit over the neighbors yard and things got way out of hand. I'm sure the cops loved that one.

BUT… He would constantly wander into our backyard and just said “Hey” and would stand there and we’d carry the conversation. Why?! He also watched our schedules like crazy and could tell me how many hours I was out of the house. He told me once that my husband should probably update my wardrobe and make-up. It was a mix between feeling sad for him and wanting to be a good neighbor, and just straight up annoyed.

As a long-term flats-dweller who in recent years caught a spinal injury, I always go - upon moving into any new place, or newbies moving in below me - to the ppl downstairs w. a cake, an apologetic smile, & a, "I'm so sorry, but I have a really heavy tread. And sometimes I fall over. And sometimes I have to crawl around. Sorrysorrysorry, if things are especially bad at any point just LMK!" An ounce of consideration goes a long way in fostering good relations, I've found. And besides, we've all _been_ that person living under the tap-dancing mammoth & his nightly bowling-ball floor-marbling sessions, at some point, so it's really not hard to have a little humility about our own ceiling-dwelling foibles.😅

Observing my husband with the boomer neighbors (he loves him a boomer) through the window is hilarious. Our son calls them the “pointing bros” because they literally stand in the street pointing at random things and then discuss. Not hearing their conversation makes it even funnier!

If you do a follow up, the noisy musician neighbor. I used to have a neighbor who played his drums in his garage with the door open. I lived a full 2 blocks away and could hear them as clear as a bell. Not that I can complain too much, I know my neighbors can hear opera wafting through open windows every once and while.

My dad is like the weird guy at the end of the video who literally trespasses to do yardwork no one asked him to do, and don’t WANT him to do, I am so happy to see that this is a somewhat common type of neighborhood weirdo, and it was therapeutic to laugh at this video.

My neighbor last week, no joke, raked up the leaves that fell from my tree and landed in her yard, and placed them in a neat 3’x3’ pile in my yard. 😂 Let’s call that neighbor “Karen” as just a random name I picked. The irony is that the branches from my other neighbor’s ginormous oak tree hang mostly over my yard, resulting in our house having more leaves to rake than any other house on the street. Based on Karen’s precedent, should I return his oak leaves to his yard? 😂 I really wanted to take that pile she dropped off, and place them in the middle of her yard. Alas! Not a neighborly thing to do, i guess.

We are so many of these! My husband is always watching out the windows and wondering why there’s so much traffic to/from the neighbors drive behind us. My husband also sent an anonymous letter to one neighbor about leaving her trash cans in Her driveway permanently. Another letter to a new neighbor who parked his car in the street by our driveway (on a hill) making it dangerous to back out of ours. We also have a nosey neighbor who will call/text to make sure we know our garage is open. He comes in handy when we go on vacay😂I’m the neighbor always waving to everyone. I owe that to growing up in a tiny town where everyone was friendly and also making up for my hubby’s crabbiness 😂

There's also the mystery neighbor. You know. The one that has a car parked in their driveway... but you have never seen or heard them. And you've been here for about 5, 10 years, now. No matter how hard you try, every time you try to peek out your window to catch them leaving for work, try to catch them coming home from work. The lights are never on. The blinds are always shut. Are they male or female? You even walked up to their door one time and knocked on the door to introduce yourself, but no one answered. But you know someone resides here. The mystery might never be solved and it drives you insane.

Live in a relatively small neighborhood. I'm in a duplex so get partial apartment vibes. There's a house across the street we call "The Forever House" because they are ALWAYS making some kind of update or something to their house. They're also the question mark neighbors. Every time I see them out with their dogs I wave and never once have they waved back. My mom is the porch person and the one who 'watches out' for the other houses.

You forgot: Garage people. In Phoenix there are people who convert their garages into sports bars and all the garage people rotate between them weeknights and weekends, usually late into the night. They leave the garage doors open when they're in there so the whole neighborhood has to hear their cheering and booing. Chattery people. These the are people you work your walking/jogging schedule around because they always want to stop you and talk to you for at least half an hour and it's always the same conversation that usually includes a political rant and gossip/complaints about other neighbors. Dog neglect people. Their dogs are always outside never getting any attention and barking all.day/night.long. Stuff people. The people who leave their stuff in the front yard for years even though they have a backyard no one can really see into and often a shed or third car garage that would hold the stuff that's being slowly destroyed by the weather. Party people. The ones who have no concept of noise ordinances or reasonable decibel levels. We finally called the sheriff at 11:45pm last week because the volume of their drunk karaoke party was so loud people could hear it from half a mile and it was showing no signs of ending anytime soon. It was 12:45am when the deputy finally arrived and shut down the drunken free form jazz sax solo that was going on.
