For those that have watched Romulus Spoilers-- What about the alien human engineer hybrid that arose from the pregnant lady who took the serum based on the black goo that was gathered from the blood of a face hugger. That thing showed extremely rapid development and extremely high levels of intelligence and awareness very quickly. It was smiling and almost laughing at some moments as it toyed with Raine. That was crazy… I’d have loved to see how truly terrifying that thing would be and how it would interact with xenomorphs. It varies a lot from the deacon from Prometheus or the newborn from alien resurrection which seems closeish to it in hereditary nature. I think it’d be cool to see a super heavy horror movie fleshed out where weiland Yutani corp develops a bioweaponry program and experimented on pregnant women to create humanized alien hybrids like they said was their goal in Romulus.

Seemed a bit gimmicky imo. I think the ending will really divide audiences. It’s a ‘marmite’ ending for sure. You’ll love or hate it. I wasn’t so keen. The OG Alien films (1&2) definitely benefited from VHS and the being filmed with a grainier look than 4k. It def helped sell the atmosphere. In ways the new films almost look too sharpe and clean.

I think the main point of the scene was to remind us of the engineers and hint at their hand in the creation of the xenomorph somehow. If the face hugger blood mixes with human DNA to create a creature similar to an Engineer I think it implies their close ties. Going forward I wouldn't be surprised to find out the Company itself was involved ultimately with a cult and searching for the Engineers.

While the original space jockey was elephant-like (not to mention the fossilized naked body hard to tell apart from head and limbs) because it was a nightmarish alien coming from Giger's mind, when they tried to expand the story behind the space jockey and they turned it into the engineers story, they couldn't deal with a story all made by nightmarish elephant-like creatures whose bodies and limbs are hard to define, so in the new story they smoothly turned that whole appearance into a suit, so that within seconds, in Prometheus, they get rid of the whole elephant-with-unintelligible-limbs story and they smartly turn it into a suit that hides the actual human-like engineers. We are all supposed to say "ok, not very fair, but...ok".

I thought Prometheus was a great movie, and I loved the introduction of the Engineers. My main beef, however, is that when the human crew finally confronted the remaining Engineer, Ridley Scott reduced it to a generic villain. I just have a hard time believing a confrontation with an advanced alien species like the Engineers would play out the way it did. Even worse, the entire Engineer story seemed to have been quickly discarded in Covenant in favor of an Alien horror movie. Ah well, I guess we can always imagine what could have been.

Deleted scene adds a lot more context. But the Engineer was pretty hostile because he was already on a mission to destroy all humans and then they woke him up abruptly demanding eternal life rofl.

The deleted scenes do change how we would look at the Last Engineer. The Engineer seemed intrigued by Dr Shaw, but he saw the way Weyland reacted and concluded that Mankind are still selfish and power Hungry. When the Engineer touched David... he had Pity.... pity over a Superior being serving a inferior Master. But the Engineer would know the Danger that Superior Sub Creation can cause and decided to Punish Weyland with the Head of his own Creation. The deleted scenes did have more Dialog but we unfortunately don't have this...... There are other deleted scenes later... The Engineer is in awe at what he finds on the Life Boat.... he finds books on the Floor.. picks up one (Bible) he goes to discover the Chandleer and sees the video screen of the Violin Girl. He is perplexed.... he does turn Aggressive to Dr Shaw after she hits him with the Axe. The version we got we see the Engineer enters the Ship... pissed off and head to attack Dr Shaw. This was a Re-Shoot and the Engineer already had his Burn Face make up on. Originally this happened from the Trilobite Fight.

Director Noah Hawley has stated that in his upcoming ALIEN series, they are as you said, totally different species and that this will show up in the series, as well as neither nor David creating the Xenomorph species, these being an ancient alien species, the results of millions of years of natural evolution.

@@off6848 The skeleton used on ALIEN may have looked elephantine, but that doesn't mean that the creature would had been the same. Thinking that it was some sort of "Elephant Man" is clearly a lack of vision. Scifi uses many science hypothesis, but there's one science fact, that is that Alien life definitely doesn't and may not look how we expected to be. So no, it makes no sense that the Space Jockeys are Humanoid at all, or even Pre Human. They are alien in nature, as everything ALIEN creator Dan O'Bannon intended with not just the creatures, but with space itself. Having the Engineers be in the franchise is not bad, but having them substitute the Space Jockeys' non human nature is more than asinine, it's reducing the universe as small as walking around the corner of your home's block. ALIEN was intended to have the fear of what else could be hiding in the vast dark void of space, what is hiding in the un-reached corners of the cosmos, and show that indeed, humans aren't the centers of the universe nor that Space cares for their extinction. As such, humans' fight for survival when faced with the unknown, the weird, the Alien, is not just because humans are all that, it's also a big deal of luck. Similarly when facing a Shark, a Bear, or a Lion with just a knife, especially the Shark in the dark waters, at night. So Space Jockeys and Engineers can be in the franchise separately as a species, but in the same universe.

In Hindsight yes... To be fair to RS... he never got to make Alien 2.... if he did we would not have had the Hive and Queen. But no matter what the Franchise did.... we never got the answers to Alien....yeah Cameron could lead us to the Xenomorph being a Ancient Organism..... But no one answered who the Space Jockey was.... And so RS would like to kept it a Mystery but he knew if he never answered it... Eventually someone else would who might have given us something that would make RS turn in his eventual Grave

When Prometheus was in production and all the fans were in a theory craze online . I had this idea that somehow possibly would become infected with a facehugger and somehow board the juggernaut and then he gets chest bursted showing how the juggernaut crashed on lv426 and then giving birth and explaining the xeno and it’s bio mech look.. I say that, in retrospect, was a decent idea being the creatures in Prometheus and even the xeno in covenant looked organic . No hint of the bio mech nightmare from the alien movies. Far fetched idea yes as the facehugger that infected kane is a whole other thing.

This is how I look at it; The Engineers, Space Jockeys and Ancient Citizens of Dark Decent are three separate species but are connected to one another. Maybe the Ancient Citizens being an ancient off shoot of Space Jockey, and the Engineers were a Space Jockey creation or at least were a secondary race that saw Space Jockeys as gods and merely replicated the technology for themselves hence why they are the same technology.

Noah Hawley on his series has intended to have the Space Jockeys and the Engineers show up and to be separate species UNRELATED to one another, with the former not being Humanoids at all as it was originally intended by ALIEN Creator and Writer Dan O'Bannon, and the Engineers being what they are. There will be a connection to them with one another but not on genetic relations. Perhaps something akin to the Anunaki Stories, with the Space Jockeys creating the Engineers as a small work force considering their size difference, and the Engineers rebelling from their creators and stealing not just lab experiments, but also discoveries and tech.

I forget where I read it, but I heard that the Predators are not canon to the Alien universe... However, xenomorphs (and maybe engineers) *are* canon to the Predator universe. Ripley was never at risk of encountering a Yautja, but the Yautja do hunt xenomorphs in their own continuity. Like how all of history up to WW2 is canon in Call of Duty, but we exist separately from Element 115 and the zombies

Hiw many channels are going to confuse what the sacrifice engineer drank as "black goo" they're not the same. What the engineer drank was the blood of the first deacon, they couldn't reproduce anymore and through the blood of the deacon they could do the sacrifice live giving life cycle. When they ran out of deacon blood they tried to recreate it, but it came out wrong. That's why the engineer hated Wayland so much, he was doing the exact stupid thing that caused their own demise, reaching for more life by trying to recreate the original deacons blood. What shaw gave life to was not the original deacon, there was a mural of it in the space they went into. Almost every channel I see doesn't distinguish between these two substances and it's annoying.

Their original storyline was scrapped. Ridley had a different direction in mind for Prometheus originally and wanted to make a triloogy about the Engineers but this plot was later changed. There are multiple deleted scenes from Prometheus, one of them being a dialogue between Weyland and the Engineer and David as a middleman/translator. Another scene depicts the Engineer being interested in Human culture as he enters Vickers's ship, almost fascinated as he sees a girl playing the violin on a screen, music being a huge part of their own culture. He also picks up a book, gently touches and observes a glass chandelier. They created the Human race and nurtured it.

It is a engineer spaceship that takes them to the engineers homeplanet called"Paradise".But when they have left the spaceship,a deacon crawls out and makes a cliffhanger for a followup movie 😀

Its just my personal opinion and I'll keep it even if there are some that want to claim cannon as facts* but I don't think the engineers on planet 4 are the same type as are operating* the ships, my theory is they are an advanced form created by the type on planet 4. A sort of biological/android hybrid. I'm basing this purely off the physical semblance the planet 4 engineers have to humans vs. the other engineer's who appear almost to be physically altered/advanced. They don't even have the same type of eyes or skin color as the inhabitants of planet 4 who also have a more primitive fashion of living. Will see🃏

CGI engineer was a shit show. Not only because how he looked like, but... He was just resurrected, possibly has encountered the first intelligent life form in his life (or at least, that was one of the very few occasions), and what does he do? Tries to kill all of them without even trying to talk to them. Why? It really makes no sense.

The amount of CGI was minimum and he looked incredible, Ian Whyte plays the role of the sleeping Engineer, he was in a suit and makeup. They created the Human race and nurtured it. There are multiple deleted scenes, one of them being a dialogue between Weyland and the Engineer and David as a middleman/translator. Another scene depicts the Engineer being interested in Human culture as he enters Vickers's ship, almost fascinated as he sees a girl playing the violin on a screen, music being a huge part of their own culture. He also picks up a book, gently touches and observes a glass chandelier. Ridley had a different direction in mind for Prometheus originally and wanted to make a triloogy but was later changed.

Omg. It's painful to watch. This franchise is just a pile of fan-fiction BS at this point. When the lore was vague and undefined, community was trying to fill gaps by their own theories, sometimes very clever and interesting. But the film industry was picking the worst of those ideas, or just make their own which were even worse, in order to milk the franchise a little more. Then Ridley Scott came back to put two final nails into this coffin and bring home two fat paycheques. After that the lore is beyond repair. Maybe someday, something like 20 years late, someone will buy decayed remains of this story and try to make a reboot. There is a small chance that this person will try to make something decent out of it. But most likely it will be another milking season.

Yes. The Prometheus was the first "Alien like" movie that made me decide to not watch other alien saga movies any more, designed by faar less talented artists. That changed.
