For those wondering about an off-the-shelf movement in Jory's Panerai, I wish I had made the same decision he did. I was so enamored with getting an in-house movement that I bought a new Panerai 312 (I believe the first in-house movement in a modern Panerai) and it was a poor decision. In 5 years of ownership it had to go back to Italy twice for movement failures, both of which cost me close to 4 figures and the watch was out of my possession for 3+ months each time. It would have been so much easier having an ETA-containing model that I could fix down at my local watch shop. There's a reason this dude has 100k subscribers ;)
@thetimeteller4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, Glenn! I’m sorry for your rough experience w/ your 312, I hope it was eventually resolved. Super frustrating to hear stories like that.

The Time Teller thanks for the response. We all learn things over the years of collecting watches. It’s all part of the experience. Just picked up a new khaki mechanical in the DLC dark bronze color on your recommendation. Very different from my usual watches but you’re right that the simplicity and honesty of the watch is refreshing. 80 hours power is not bad either! Thanks for what you do!

My dive watch is a Citizen Promaster Aqualand 2 . I use it as a backup when diving because of the integrated, water activated dive computer. I mean...a f-ing dive computer in the watch! It shows current depth, temperature, dive log, dive time alert, max depth alert, ascend speed alert.... And from personal experience I can say it works. I once had to do an emergency ascend and was a bit to fast in the beginning and my main suunto dive computer was warning me and so did the Aqualand.
