My first Yakuza game was the original on PS2 back in around 2009, when Yakuza 3 was the newest game and Yakuza 4 was just announced for a western release. I played through 1, 2, 3, and 4 right when it released. Couple years later I bought 5 digitally, but couldn't remember anything that had happened after Yakuza 1, so I dropped the game and haven't touched the franchise since. Been really happy to see it succeed over here though - I thought it was insane that it hadn't done better, even back then. Considering getting back into the franchise with 0, but there are so many games now and I remember feeling burned out even when there were only 4.

I started playing the Yakuza series since the beginning of January 2024. It's a great series! I recently beat Yakuza 5, so now I'm about to begin Yakuza 6. However, I'm a bit burned out right now, so I have Yakuza 6 on hold. I am looking forward to beating all of the games soon.

Oh yea same with me , i got burned out on 4 so i left it for a while and returned and beat it recently and now it's one of my favorites !

I played yakuza since PS2 , I just can’t handle the turn combat system, dynamic fight it’s what make the series, so putting Like a dragon in the S tier feels wrong

Going to put my list as a comparison. Currently playing lost judgement. Have yet to play infinite wealth. Story: LAD > 0 > Judgement > 6 >Gaiden > 3 > 2 > 1 > 4 > 5. Idk where to put ishin as I found it forgettable. Gameplay (combat): Lost Judgement > Gaiden > 0 > judgement > LAD > kiwami > 5 > 4 > k2 > 6 > Ishin > 3

why's gaiden so high in combat

@metwie_33 I just simply found it's combat enjoyable. It felt like a large improvement from k2/6 dragon engine to me. There were still some juggles that could be done on enemies like in the judgement games, although not as many as lost. I recall style switching being quick, leading to some mixed combos between the 2 styles. Trying out other movesets in the coliseum was a neat bonus (even if a lot of those movesets aren't good due to some being designed for weak enemies you'd normally stomp as a playable character and not having their own dedicated heat actions).

Hey, I'm just finishing up my Like a Dragon journey, I've 100% most games in the series (list at the bottom if interested), I normally just do all substories/side cases for the Amon fights. I am currently almost done Ishin and then im done,. While i do agree with your list for the most part what I would change: - I do think Gaiden is too high, I wouldnt be able to put it A-tier simply because it's story is really short, and is honestly is more of a dlc to Like a Dragon 7, dont get me wrong though it is still a phenominal game through and through its just that compared to others in the series it just doesnt have the time to be interesting in its own right. For me B-tier I think would fit it better - Yakuza 0 is too low, it really is the yakuza game. while i dont think its the best in the series i do think it deserves an S-tier, but I dont really mind - this one is completly my opinion, but I think yakuza 3 is really one of the best games story wise in yakuza and sets up Kiryu as he has gone on to be portrayed so and I love Mine as a final boss, a real "what could've been" beetween the two. I did play the remaster and while the combat felt tedious at times I still really liked it and had fun. I think id put it A-tier I do also love seeing love for Yakuza 5 and Kiwami 2 I do think they are also overhated in the community, loved the vid!! list of the games i've 100%: Judgement, Gaiden, Infinite Wealth, Yakuza 0, Yakuza 6, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza Kiwami 2, Yakuza: Like A Dragon

Yeah I fully respect your opinion on the matter. Just for me I couldn't get into the 0/Kiwami combat although I love the stories they tell.

@@Sn0ring And I respect your opinion on the 0/Kiwami combat, I simply found it fun, I think 3 maybe had the most intricate combat system (mostly because of blockuza). I do think that its funny that we agree that Kiwami is the worst in the franchise for completly seperate reasons. For me the combat was the only saving grace in a story i found was very poorly paced. I do still like it though, just not as strong as the other entries

Id say Yakuza 3 and 8 should be both in D tier atleast, while LAD should be A max.
