An important part, if not the most important, of rhaegar's story is that he was a slightly weird/aloof child who suddenly was struck with a sort of divine inspiration to fulfill an ancient prophecy. Was he really kind? In the real world if a man leaves his sick wife for a younger prettier girl he's usually considered a douchebag and an asshole and the girl is considered a homewrecker. Not to mention that it is kind of implied (in the books) that he didn't really love Lyanna, he only married her to complete his interpretation of the prince that was promised prophecy, he believed that a line in the prophecy stated that the prince that was promised must have 3 children. The show kind of implies the same thing though because in the show we see Dayne try to kill Ned on sight on orders of Rhaegar- he didn't care about Lyanna or her family(after all he did ride out to fight her two remaining brothers in the battle of the trident), he only cared about her offspring. Lyanna isn't much better either - she literally finds out that her future father-in-law killed her brother and father brutally and still decides to marry into that family. Add that to the fact that she knew he was married to Elia and still decided to marry him, and this clearly shows that Lyanna didn't care about anyone's feelings but her own. LIke I said in the real world we would consider both of them to be the lowest of the low but in fiction, we see this as a tragic love story.

Aurora Lara even if that was his only fault it doesn't mean he is innocent the war and every fucking thing in the series is because of him even if he loved her he could ve done somthing he just escaped with her and didnt tell any one the truth he is selfish he didn't care about the fucking war and how many lives would die because of what he did why didn't he explained the truth to the world why did he hide lyanna ( i know my English isn't perfect)

The City was sacked because Aerys was a dumbass. If you read the World of Ice and Fire you would know that Aerys pretty much hated and distrusted Tywin for years once his madness came to a boil. Yet he allowed the Lannister army into Kings Landing despite the way he treated Tywin. Brandon Stark and Rickard Stark going to Kings Landing to demand ANYTHING from King Aerys (during this period) was suicide.
@markbrown85337 жыл бұрын
Evidence of that? It would have been a long siege. And Ned Stark wouldn't have allowed Elia and her children to be killed.

Lmao, Rhaegar never "loved" Lyanna. He was just obsessed with the prophesy of Azor Ahai and how his child would grow to be him. Elia couldn't have any more children so Rhaegar scorned her, psychologically tortured her and publicly humiliated her. And finally, he eloped with Lyanna, NOT because he loved her but because he wanted a child that had both the blood of the First Men and the Andals.

I would love to see a prequel just based on Rhaegar. He sounds like such an intriguing character. And I know he ain’t got many fans in this comment section but he sounded like a decent guy. But problem is he chose love over family. I think if they ever did a prequel this is the most interesting story to do one.

@Gaius Wyrden don’t get me wrong I am not painting him as a hero as he was not. But he was not evil he did many mistakes like every human being and put he’s desires before pride and family. But everything I read and watch about the character he seemed to care for the people. He was not a man driven by power but by love.

Well a lot of people know he’s a decent guy. But even decent guys can do the stupidest things that hurt people. Like a decent guy can cheat or indirectly hurt another person. It’s never black and white. But the thing is that this situation could have been handle a lot differently. It wasn’t just Lyanna’s “kidnapping” that caused a riot it was the fact her brother died and her father died and then the king asked for Robert and Ed to die and so on and so forth. Maybe if Rhaegar had convinced his dad or overthrew his dad to then strike down Lyanna’s engagement to Robert and make her his second wife then things would’ve been okay. But the reality is that the only victims here are the men that died and Rhaegar’s wife and kids. That’s it. Not him. And definitely not Lyanna.

ahmar anwar Robb was a boy thrust into war. In the books he was what, 15, and chose the honor of another girl above his own. While Walder Frey would have betrayed him anyway, he had no way of knowing what would happen. He made a mistake. Rhaegar was a grown ass man who knew better, had a wife, kids, abandoned them and left them to be raped & murdered. All so he could fuck a 15 year old girl.

There´s actually 2 hints no one has ever seemed to pick up on. 1. Ned looking at his feet in the crypt when Rob talked about ending the Targ line, while a couple scenes earlier or later we get Catelyn warning Bran about the castle parkour, and that she knows he always looks at his feet before lying. 2. When they find the Direwolf pups. Eddard is stern to all his kids, about the wolves; not going to survive, so better a quick death. Jon gives Ned a speech about houses, words and sigils and Ned flips 180 degrees and allows the kids to adopt the puppers. The first time I read that part I thought to myself: "Why the hell do you scorn your real kids, but you genuinly listen to the bastard?"
