Just imagine how much flow you would get if you got rid of that heater grid? I'm getting ready to drill and tap the bolt down access hole on top and put a heating element in it. It's the one that goes in to their emission compliant ram elbow. They will tell you what drill size and tap size. Drill bit is 20.5 mm. Tap size is m22 x1.5 thread pitch. Got the tools right off of Amazon

It’s discontinued. They used to sell them that way. Now you can only go pusher style I think unless you find one on a website.

Does taking out the stock horn and replacing it with the banks aftermarket horn, does that delete that fluttering sound the exhaust brake makes when going down a hill or just when slowing down? Cause I want to get the banks horn but don’t want too lose the awesome sound of the exhaust brake.

Your 6.7 would breath ahole lot better if you deleted that grid heater were I live it gets down to -15 and my 08' 6.7 starts just fine with the block heater plugged in

Hey my Columbus friend, I don’t travel much but I drove to Columbus to visit Jack Nickelous’s Hall of Fame about 7 years ago. I just put 2 amps in my Jeep. One for 2 subs and one for the rest. Have you thought about anything like that or did you get the upgraded music package? Common place on driver side of the Cummins for sockets to go missing is between the pcm and engine block. Happy hunting!!

Ryan, question for you. I own a 06 5.9 and I live in Michigan. You being from Ohio with similar weather conditions, do you ever have a problem with the cold starts without having a grid heater? I ask because I have a stock intake horn, and was thinking about upgrading to a monster (I think that remove the grid heater?) also I don't have access to a plug outside to plug my truck in, and advice would be greatly appreciated. FYI I am new to the diesel game, so I apologize before hand if my question seem kind of novice. PS I've really learn a great deal about the Cummins platform because of the great content you provide. SO my hat goes off to you and just wanted to say thank you. I really look forward to meeting you in June at the truck show.

I went with a Glacier Diesel throttle valve heater. Works great. In ohio and had it installed past few years.

He didnt delete the grid heater, which confused me cause thats the whole reason why I'm installing this product. The 6.7 stock grid heater is very constrictive, and there is this bolt that has been known to melt off, go into cylinder 6... end result is a blown motor. Sucks

That shroud is there to cover up the emissions equipment. What do you mean you like how the 6.7s look? From an engine perspective they look almost identical to a 5.9 common rail. The only cosmetic difference is the emissions obviously. I think it looks ridiculous and covers up how awesome these engines really are. And it's just a junk piece of plastic.
