thank you for your monolid tutorials! i watch beauty gurus without monolids and it's kind of discouraging when starting out in makeup because it doesn't work on my eye shape. you make it fun and beautiful. thanks jen! :)

Thanks so much for the tutorial Jen! I started getting into makeup when I found your tutorials about a year and a half ago, because before then I didn't believe I could do anything to make my monolidded eyes look more "alive." I love this understated yet sophisticated look, and a lot of the times I also go out with nothing but a lip balm on my lips haha

Nice tutorial! I have uneven eyelids with one having a deep monolid and the other a slightly lesser one. This helps even it out a lot! I love your tutorials and gorgeous as always :)

@olivinetea I would use actual liner thinly, then use an eyeshadow in brown or charcoal grey to smudge it into the overlapped/hooded area. That way, the line isn't as harsh but you still get a defined lower lash line effect.
@frmheadtotoe13 жыл бұрын
@SpaRklyAngeLglaM Yup, that's right! Since our lashes point downward, the upper waterline isn't ever exposed so it's not necessary to line it. Waterlining isn't super healthy for the eyes anyway, so I recommend skipping it if your eyes are sensitive. ;)

@RicePuddingStuff I have been a long-time fan of Covergirl Lash Exact Waterproof mascara. It's not too fancy but it holds curls and gives a great, clean, everyday look for monolidders.

@hellokitty89881 "Puffy eyes" really depends on where you place the metallic color. I tend to only put metallics/shimmery colors on the center of my lid and contour that with a matte shadow. This way, the contrast actually makes your eyes look more defined instead of puffy. ;)

Ive always hated my monolids... it has been so hard for me to do make up because i dont have the crease. You inspire me to not go and do surgery for double lids like my other korean friends. You make me believe that i can be/ do so much more with monolids and now I love my monolids more than ever. PLZ do more of these tutorial. u r my godddd

Hey Jen, I just wanted to say THAT I'M SO GLAD I FOUND YOU. I recently came across your videos (2 days ago?) and really found that your looks are much more suitable and wearable for me as I have monolids. I love Michelle Phan and xteeener, but I always found that their looks were hard to achieve with my eyes. SO THANK YOU for opening the doors for my monolids. I'M SO EXCITED TO TRY YOUR LOOKS!!
@kminni0312 жыл бұрын
Your videos have helped me with how I wear make-up, because I'm half-black and half-korean, so I have part of a double eyelid, but then it becomes like a monolid towards my nose and this is for both my eyes. I'm lucky that they are the same for both eyes, but it was really frustrating when I first started wearing eye makeup. Your videos have been such great help with finding techniques to deal with my eyes.

I love the way you apply your eye makeup on. I been using gel liner for a while but still it won't last long so I try to put black eye shadow on top of my liner like you said and it looks great and smooth, last longer. Thanks to you.

hey jenn this is a lil off topic but missha has a great liquid eyeliner that completely waterproof. it goes on like paint and takes a little longer to dry but it will not budge; not even if you rubbing your eyes. it comes off easily with make up remover is its in metallic blue packaging. check it out, great for monolids.

Monolid eyelids have creases that are so close to the lash line, they get tucked in when we open our eyes naturally... This gives the appearance that we don't have creases, when actually, we do.

i love these videos! please do more like this for monolids :) also, can you do a video on lashes? you always seem to pick the best lashes for your eyeshape. they look so natural and give your eyes such flair, that it's the exact style i'd like to try out. would you say that your eyes are intense monolid kind with a lot of fat on your lids, or a weak one so you get a crease now and then when you're tired? thanks for a great video!

I don't have monolids but this technique is useful for hooded lids, thank you :) I have a real thing about putting my fingers in skincare or makeup & I have found that sponge tip applicators, particularly the pointed type, are ideal for using with the hybrid eyeshadows such as L'oreal 24 hr Infallible, Chanel, Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill etc. The sponge tip applicator doesn't cause any fall out & it blends beautifully. The applicator can also be washed & dried like a brush many times.

I personally have that palet, it's pretty good and you can learn with it, i my personal opinion i love naked 2 because the colors are easy to play with them, i think you can use the glitter you're used to o you love, i don't think it's about the brand but the color. Urban decay are pretty good or maybe you can try look with estee lauder or loreal has good ones

1. Urban Decay's Naked palette is amazing. An equally awesome neutral palette is theBalm's Nude'Tude. 2. I would say it depends on which of the neutral colors you prefer. Look up swatches to help decide! 3. In general, I don't buy drug store makeup, so I can't really help you with this question. 4. Urban Decay Book of Shadows is amazing! My friends got me IV for my birthday. If you're going for budget palettes, UD also offers smaller ones. I personally love the Vegan palette for neutral tones.

Jen can you do a natural no makeup makeup everyday look for monolidders?
@Abyswonderworld13 жыл бұрын
@Muoiix3 guess its about sensitivity. some people get reddish eyes after waterlining or get frequent irritations :) If u have wetish waterline, u need not to worry at all. coz the liner/pencil doesnt stay there for long. Mine doesnt, it slips down to the lower lash line. :)

3. I used a mix of half baked and smog to get the color I liked. 4. I got the make-up artist kit from NYX for $30. But, it mainly is shimmery colors. I also have the Sonia Kashuk eye on neutral palette for about $20 which is just 12 all matte colors. I don't have any smaller palettes that are grab and go. Hoped I helped :)
@kminni0312 жыл бұрын
1. Yes, it's really is good for me, since I recently started getting into make-up. It has the basics that you need and I have pretty tan skin. I'm half-Korean and black and the colors in the Naked skin are really pretty on warm skin tones in my opinion. 2. I don't have Naked 2, but the colors in that palette is cooler than Naked. It depends on what colors you prefer to have. But, I would definitely recommend the first Naked palette.

Hi Jen, this was a great tutorial. However I noticed you still have lighter or thinner? mono eyelids and have a VERY light crease. For my case, I have thicker, heavier mono eyelids where I have no sign of crease at all. It's much harder to apply eyeliners at all. And I don't wear eye shadows at all because it just looks terrible on my kind of eyes (or I just don't know how to apply eye shadows with my type of eyes). Could you (if you can) do a tutorial for my type of mono eyelids? thanks!
