Bob & Colleen Caron Agreed. Still happy with my 2012 SS. There's just something about rowing through the gears even in normal daily commutes. It just makes you happy. Life is too short to spend it driving stuff you hate. Visa vis the 2011 Mazdaspeed 3 that I had. An ok car. It just ended up not being what I like in the end result.

The deficits you've described are common complaints/concerns. This car seems to favor the driver and not the passengers, both shotgun and beotch. There are three things that can be done to overcome these shortcomings. (1) Be the driver. (2) Get a convertible and drive faster than others. Blind spots either dont exist or don't matter. (3) Take your truck to Lowes - not the Camaro. It wasn't intended to be a frieght hauler. Its an affordable alternative to a Vette with additional storage.

The rt is the poor man's hemi muscle car. They are not really any faster than the other two brands v6 models. And they definitely are nowhere near what the SS maro or 5.0 in performance. The SRT and up is where its at for Dodge. They are heavy and need the extra power to run with the other two. But the RT hemis need aftermarket parts to run with stock maros and stangs.

I think what this review shows is that the two cars are close enough in VERY different ways that its all personal preference. This is defiantly one of the best car shows along with Matt Farah's show. My favorite magizine is Motor Trend but you guys got them beat on videos hands down.

Too many reviewers want big coupes to handle like Miatas. They also think everyone wants to drive them like they're on a track. And finally, not everyone needs a big trunk. I have a pickup and a Volvo XC60 R Design if I need to pack a lot. These cars are about looks and attitude. And speaking of it as if it's a gas guzzler is unfair. 28mpg highway is not bad.

@mardamek1 You're most definitely right, but unless you take C63 to Renntech or something, it isn't a true "fastest lap" track car. That's not what AMG is about in it's production level cars. The Boss and the M3 are fast and both may great sounding V8's, but between interior, looks, and that AWESOME exhaust note the C63 puts out, I would have it over the Mustang in a heart beat

well you can always put it on your parents insurance and have you listed as an occasional driver, which, lets be honest, EVERYONE does. Is it legal, not really, but people still do it anyway. And like godwhitepk said, the actual car has little impact. For a 17 year old, a used 2011 5.0 mustang is the same cost to insure as a brand new honda civic

@johnmace2447 3 жыл бұрын
@@francisprevel1 hes referring to gas mileage especially if you drive hard they really suck down some gas. Id say filling up these beasts would be 60 bucks every 3 days. Thats based on my driving. And a daily yearly average miles of 12,000. Which is the National average anyways. That would be 600 a month in gas just to give you a rough idea. I used to have a 500hp 2002 6spd z28 camaro, and that’s around what i paid. Plus oil changes and maintainece. Which is about 120-150 an oil change and 2-3000 a year in maintenance, so your looking at 10k easy a year to drive this car.

It’s funny how things have flipped. The Camaro is more the pure drivers car and the Mustang is more the looker, louder (if you have the active exhaust) hot rod that is more fun as a daily. (However both are drivers cars and both are hot rods and lookers so those are all relative statements I made).

The 5th gen camaro is a bit fat and does make you an ass while driving, but it looks amazing, is a wonderful cruiser, and never fails to impress. Not to mention it was the first car in 2012 (of any car tested) to receive a perfect front and side crash rating. So add safe to the list.

Camaros look much better than mustangs. They look beastly like predators on the prowl. Camaros perfectly merge a modern look with the muscle car era feel. Mustangs fail in that regard. Too modern. Challengers look better than mustangs but are too retro imo especially inside the car. Overall camaros are a better package.

Goes to show you how awesome even a base LS3 Corvette is... The LS3 Vette would be like a Camaro SS dropping 600 pounds, gaining 10 HP / 8 LBFT (with the NPP exhaust), then becoming more aerodynamic, and last but not least, adding wider tires as well. That's a stock LS3 Corvette. :-)

What's with the comment about sitting low in the car with high dash? It's awesome! Like being in a cockpit. Mustang sits too high and the suspension sucked on the Stang when I drove it. For me, it's the Challenger hands-down. Why? Because it hails from the Mopar family. And if that's not enough, it's a Challenger. That just ends it, as far as I'm concerned. The Camaro and Mustang have never been as cool, in my opinion, as the Challenger. Not in the '70s, and not today. But honestly, if someone pushed me to get a muscle car that I'd drive every day and enjoy the most, there's only one option, and that's the OLD Challenger. Driving it would be a perpetual orgasm.

tough decision. but for me.... i think i'd end up buying the Mustang. the Camaro in another sense to me looks like a completely stupid car. the styling of it is...is is chidlish. it looks like it came from a cartoon, why you think the styling is so hot doesn't make sense to me. I like the Camaro, but looking at it from the front, its a joke of a car. but love the sound n everything. but leaving that bias out, for how i wanna go about the roads on an avg day, Mustang wins this in my opinion.

lol honestly the camaro was better then the mustang back then, and i'm about to be a mustang owner so i'm not being biased, but now the mustang came back and beat it, soon the camaro will be redesigned and come back to kill m3's and c class amg's as well as mustangs, and the battle will go back and forth, but soon the difference will not be the axle because ford will most likely change that it will probably be between DOHC v8s and OHV v8s

You're cool. i'm sorry if you don't like my comment, how bout you stfu? i'm being honest, i don't like muscle cars much because they do nothing but move in a straight line and make a lot of noise. in any case i still like the Mustang, i just don't think the camaro wins yet. its just a big hotwheel with a lot of power, i personally don't like that. idk nor care for what you look for in a muscle car, but in my opinion i'd rather drive a Mustang... ...or a tuner. got a problem with that?

You guys want a car you can drive daily and still get a stupid smile on your face every time you get in it? Get the Camaro 2LT V6 with RS package. It actually handles better than the V8. Excellent fuel economy, great power and in the near future of 4 cylinder cars and high gas prices, this is the one you will keep for the long haul, not the V8. High powered V6's are the future of muscle cars and 304 HP from a V6 ain't bad.

3 things. 1. What's wrong with german cars? i rather own a beamer or a benz than this. 2. It's built here, so no shit it's cheaper. German cars are everywhere here in the US. 3. maybe they don't import much muscle or american cars to your country? and their not cheap to insure, and gas is as good as a monster truck.

Not really...those would have turbos if they want to push 300bhp, add the turbo lag and you won't get the same acceleration at the lower end of the curve. Also cheaper 300bhp than Mustang/Camaro? Very very difficult to find. Some candidates that come close are BMW1 series and perhaps Mitsu Evo. But other front wheel drive cars just dont compare.

There not bias towards imports... they were talking crap about the GTR. Also the difference between these 2 cars, the GTR goes 0-60 in 3 seconds, the Camaro SS is a good 5 seconds, although the ZR1 is damn fast, the GTR will still out perform it on a track.

Love the bit at the start about it being american, but its actually built in canada. The guys left something out though, it was designed by Holden. Yep, the Australian arm of GM... won the World Car Design of the Year 2010 too. So, yeah, its kinda american.

Eibach coils and carbon fibre diet make the Camaro SS a whole new beast.

What are the chances of getting a multi generational Corvette video? something that showcases the used car options for us "non six figure income" types? C3, C4, C5 "comparisson."

@170Black agreed, but also mustang 2011 came out after camaro 2011 did. so they knew what they had to do 2 beat it. 2012 im hoping gm does something other then a z28 with a jacked up price

pitty they didn't have 5.0 L in Mustang .. even the conclusion and score might be the same 1:1 .. I think 5.0 Mustang (more muscular/ faster) would win .

If the gubment hadn't f#&ked up the economy, I'd still have a job and be driving a Camaro today. Instead, I collect unemployment and drive my wife's Hyundai.
