This was a very well taken review. Thank you. I can see the idea of skipping on the expensive carbon bits, but because the only reason I am seriously considering this car is for its looks, I would actually pay for the carbon bits. But the new DB12 is a very compelling alternative.

I just bought a 2004 986.2. It has full saddle leather interior and a 5sp manual. The colour is Carmona red metallic. It is my 7th car, yes I have a problem to normal people, but car nuts understand. I'm completely blown away by the quality of the car. The sound and handling are great. I paid significantly more than the prices paid here, but 2 years after this review, prices for Boxsters are going up. Loved this review.

Worth noting the handling characteristics probably were quite different compared to when new for NA/NB thanks to the rapid advances in technology. Also worth noting on 50:50, at least per Mr Tada who was the engineer behind the GT86, it was deliberately done to introduce some under-steer so that is more friendly to new drivers as it is easier to correct. Plenty of manufacturers has done that and it is debatable if there is a golden ratio. For an example 911 are rear biased while Boxter tend to be 50:50, but one can’t discount 911 on that alone

I've been a C8 owner since it's launch in 2020. I find myself considering the jump to a true GT car like the LC500 or possibly the MB GT55. The C8 performs, but boy it is ever a dime a dozen now.

Absolutely magnificent car, the 981 GTS is one of a kind, I had them (GTS)s since 2017 PDK car first then I swapped it for a manual high spec car it even got better, never thought of selling it, it is a keeper, I totally agree the 981 lines are just perfect, they don't make anything like them anymore.

I wonder how the driving dynamics of Evo x would hold up against the GR. This might be the first awd car to really bring the fun since the x. The ford focus probably came close, but I think the GR would be more of a direct competitor.

? - As stated in this film, we aren’t claiming these 5 are the most fun cars, but only that they each represent a price bump. And as mentioned in the GR86 section, it represents the price point that could have been the Miata. This entire comparison could be done with 5 entirely different cars. Thanks for watching!

watching this again! this is the BENTLEY for the MASSES! VW Phaeton is beautiful imo. It's understated Luxury honestly if people had the opportunity to LEASE it would be a BARGAIN. Also the Phaeton is so understated is why I love it! VW during that ERA was PEAK! it didn't cut corners of quality because it was a VW... VW and Audi pretty much part shared for the benefit of VW.... but now VW is a cookie cutter car and honestly on the GOLF R and TIGUAN in the USA intrigues me... wish they brought the TIGUAN R in the USA

I don't understand how changing the brakes shortened the stopping distance? The factory brakes will take you to the anti skid limit just like any upgrade would. Only tyres will make a difference in stopping distance.

Ive heard of owners of Supras claiming 390 to 405 whp. I took anything over 380 whp with a grain of salt initially. But with so verified dyno stock supra hitting over 390 to the wheel consistently. Makes you wonder why they underrated as high 50 hp.

As much as I'm not a fan of the BMW Supra, for $10K LESS than the other two, it should be a no brainer. Not to mention the Z has very little in the way of custom drive modes compared to the other two. It's almost TOO analog.

Lots to be said for low weight - the first time I was driven in an Austin Healey Frog-Eye Sprite... was a revelation. MX5 and Elise are the more modern iterations of that same principle. I drove a Boxter and found it heavy and unresponsive by comparison.
@williesworldofwheels4 күн бұрын
These cars suck except for the 350z. Should be called the wussy car challenge. The 350z is the fastest and best handling of the bunch. It’s already been proven tons of times and raced against around the tskuba circuit. That one there is 33xxllbs and has lsd, zero lift, and runs 13s in the 1/4 mile. None of those other cars even have lsd or run a a 13 or have aftermarket support. You can drop any engine you want in a Z with tons of differnt kits. Cant swap engines in those other cars with available kits.. I’m blocking your channel. Your opinions are trash.

I have exclusively owned only Miatas for the last 26 years as my only car. I have driven cross country, commuted to work in them in a busy city and used them for numerous things. I have never understood the practicality concerns. They have more than sufficient room for two people and accompanying luggage space. They have more than enough room for a single person or couple to go shopping or buy groceries. For anyway bigger, like a TV or refrigerator, well, I get that delivered. I suppose a caveat here is the size of the person. That is something that this video overlooked. I am only 5'9" and the 1st and 2nd gen Miatas (NA/NB) feel like they were made for me. I can understand where someone over 6' may feel cramped, especially if they are packing extra pounds. The 3rd gen (NC) Miata however is a bit larger in the interior and honestly, it feels a little too big to me at times. That just goes to show that having the right sportscar size depends on the person and it is like getting fitted for clothes or shoes. But, anyway, to me the correct Miata to show here is the roadster Club with the Recaro seats (to compare with the GR86 seats and more "sports" oriented tune), not the RF GT. The RF GT is nice and a little more luxurious with the top up. If you have security concerns in the city I can understand the advantage. On the other hand, all my years I have owned only Miatas with a softtop and never have had any issues with security. New Orleans isn't particularly safe and yet, no problems for me. The car jackers seem to go for the people in SUVs, they seem to ignore the Miata. Having a top that goes completely down, not "targa" style" like the RF, is what the roadster experience is all about IMHO, there is simply no replacement for it. Anything else just seems so "vanilla" to me in the driving experience. As far as the GR86 goes, it is a great car. Arguably a better car than the Miata. But which one is the sportscar with the soul and really the entire reason you get a sportscar in the first place? Miata is the only one. The GR86 is a 2+2 coupe. I have never understood the 2+2 idea. The seats are too small for anyone, even children, to fit comfortably in and thus... NOBODY ever uses those rear seats. They are just there for show. You end up folding them down to make room when you want to put more stuff in the car. Just a waste of seat space IMHO. Why not just make the GR86 a proper 2 seat sports coupe? Again, there is no need for rear seats because they are too small for anyone to ever want to ever use them. Doesn't make any sense. Finally, neither of these cars is designed for four people. They are designed for two people. For that, the 2+2 aspect of the GR86 is superfluous and just wastes space, length, weight and cost. And it still doesn't have the soul of the Miata. The Miata has everything two medium size people need, from my experiences and has such an endearing soul that never gets old. Driving to work is fun. For the larger crowd, I suppose I can understand needing something like the GR86... or perhaps a Mustang/Camaro may be an even better fit for those people.

I know I'm in the minority here, but automatics are superior in every way. If manuals were better, OEMs would use them now, but are trending away. You tested the C8 that's catered to a 70 year old retiree. Drive the C8.R and see how pure of driving experience it is.
@EverydayDriver4 күн бұрын
There’s no question that manual transmissions are slower than any modern dual clutch transmission. But they are also less involving. Driving a fun car is about the experience, not lap times, and a manual adds to the experience with more to do and more attachment to the car. (Generally - not all manuals are good to work with). Beyond that - why bring up the C8.R? It’s a purpose built race car and these are all street cars on real roads. Thanks for watching!
