May I suggest getting folks to check for throttle play on the carb throttle shaft Also. The metering spring u could also cut 3 coils from each side to reduce your pop off pressure. Improves throttle response
@EVERYDAYRC3 жыл бұрын
Not sure what carburetor your referring to? This engine has the Walboro 1242 carb that was specifically designed for OBR. No throttle shaft play and no need for trimmer metering spring because this carb has metal coil diaphragm increasing the pop off pressure from 15psi to 35psi. 😊👍

I clean soak my air filters in petrol. Soaking the filter in petrol gives all the small particles a medium to come out Filter comes out spotless after soaking in two or three fresh pints of petrol

Sweet rebuild Chris. It looks too pretty to run 😝. 1 Question I did have, you used a copper sealer with a copper gasket. I’ve built 100s of 2 cycle engines in my day, and the general rule of thumb was never use a sealer in conjunction with a copper gasket, I’ve never experienced a failure. Is this a manufactures requirement or something you do as a course of your experience? I like the theory of dimpling, but the jury is out on how truly effective it is. I’ve used sleeve shims in the mounting holes to ensure there wasn’t any movement of the cylinder/head, along with the proper torque specs. Is this something you do regularly?
@EVERYDAYRC5 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot man I appreciate it. On the small little 28.5 Cc 2 bolt I find that using the copper silicone with the copper head gasket has given me good results. If it was a four bolt I might not go the extra step but this isn’t a high-quality engine but can be a workhorse. This is not like it’s going to be mounted on a weed eater it’s going to be pushed to the max. In my experience through the years I have used the copper silicone and dimpling technique on engines that are planned to be used a lot And that are prone to head gasket leaks and it has worked With great results. Instead of silicone Another option to use DRKO. Which has been known to be used instead of gaskets but it works excellent at sealing. The copper head gasket will last forever and it adds the proper spacing between the cylinder and the crankcase and I found that the copper silicone works excellent on this 2 bolt engine. At the end of the day this is just a Weedwhacker engine so I don’t really go with manufacture specifications or torque specifications. If it was on a liquid cooled two stroke or a higher and scenario I would just go with manufacture specifications but this is what I have known to be extremely effective and works well with this engine.

I have the heavy duty steel gasket set from DDM for my G320. What Permatex gasket maker do you recommend? Would the anaerobic gasket maker be enough?
@EVERYDAYRC5 жыл бұрын
You may not have to use Sealant on the 320 because it is a four bolt head. Putting a sealant won’t hurt it but it’s up to you if you think you’re going to run it a lot and not have to worry about a head gasket leak. I would still use the high temperature copper silicone. The anaerobic sealant is not meant to seal a head gasket

I am having trouble keeping my 5ive running right. I set the default carb settings and you pull and pull and it runs for a few seconds with choke on and stalls. Turn off the choke and after many pulls it runs high idle and when you hit throttle it bogs down .
@EVERYDAYRC4 жыл бұрын
A high idle off choke means the engine is running to lean(not enough fuel) turn the low speed needle counter clockwise while idling to give more fuel and lower idle. Than you can work on the high speed. If this doesn’t help could be a carburetor issue or air leak coming from somewhere

Great video learned a lot. You always do a awesome job. I have some questions can you do a video, explaining the differences between 1.0 and 2.0 Losi 5 T. I want to know in your opinion which one I should buy. Also can you go over the tools you use, I understand DDM has tools but I want to know what I can buy at my local hardware store. I want to have a good tool selection.
@EVERYDAYRC5 жыл бұрын
Thanks bro and I’m glad to hear you learned a little something. Not sure about all the differences between the 2.0 and OG. Some I’ve heard is of course a different body and I think the placement of the center diff and I believe it comes with a 29cc stock. engine . Get a good set of hex tools from ddm which is a must. You’ll know what others you might need when you cross that bridge!
@tontobb89563 жыл бұрын
There are more upgrade parts available for the 1.0. They moved the centre diff in then 2.0 to better align the drive shafts as the cups wear a bit more quickly on the 1.0. Because of steep angle. It’s not a huge issue though

Hi Chris great video ! New to channel love the /5 scale action I've owned one for a couple year now. I have a pretty good collection of vehicles too. Question I have if you don't mind ... I seen in some of your earlier videos the stands you have for you trucks on the shelf.. you make those or are they available somewhere? Like how the vehicles tires are in the air and tilted up or down... looks awesome
@EVERYDAYRC5 жыл бұрын
Thanks bro! Glad you found your way over to the channel and it’s cool to hear your into fifth scales! The stands are actually guitar foot stools believe it or not! They aren’t good for wrenching but work great to keep you wheels off the ground at only about 10$ each

So to you learn what's the right way of properly lubricating your engine through the gas you don't need to be giving others wrong information and cause them to mess up their engines
@EVERYDAYRC2 жыл бұрын
Oh hey buddy. I can assure you it was the dirt ingestion that hurt the engine. This is the stock Losi 26cc no frills engine that I have upgraded and customized myself, bringing it up to 28.5 cc. The Stihl HP ultra synthetic 2 stroke oil that I use in this engine is of the highest quality, and it is specifically made by the stihl corporation to protect two stroke engines in the coldest and hottest of climates on air cooled engines that can run up to 15,000 RPMs. Given the flashpoint isn’t as high as high performance dirtbike engine oil’s in essence this engine is just a Weedwhacker engine.. I have been a small engine mechanic for over 20 years of my life and I’m speaking from experience and I have torn down engines with many years of work out in the field using this type of oil and it has protected the engine significantly. I would never suggest anything that would harm peoples engines. Now I have switched to an OBR engine, and I would not suggest this oil on that engine. For that engine I’m using CASTOR 927 30:1. Thanks for your feedback, but I think you’re mistaken!
@jameswestmoreland53142 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy it wasn't the dirt that made your motor mess up but I'm sure it didn't help but that chain saw oil you're using is what I bet you a nother motor that's what screwed up your engine.

We'll I would like too take the time too apologize you have thought me something .that some build engines that very in rpm levels can use lubricants that or good for one engine and not others on a high rpm motor that can reach up to 19 thousand rpm. Maybe I'm just old school. I'm 62 and have been building engines for quite a while now. But like they say never too old to learn. Thank you for the response. Nothing better than a debate.
