Confucius was around 100 years before Socrates. But of course nobody had a name like ‘stoicism’ to name these philosophies until modern times. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that both western and eastern philosophers share similarities. But it was still truly fascinating to hear Shi Heng’s input on stoicism. Like he said, he doesn’t care what you call it. It’s more about how you apply it.
