Boogie's downfall goes from sad to frustrating. He had a clear path to early retirement but somehow he was too pathetic to not fuck it up. Ricks line to jerry fits so well he act like prey but he's a predator using how pathetic he is as a weapon to suck up as much good will as he can from everyone.
@liselotteline85964 ай бұрын
He reminded me of Jerry too, but I think that’s unfair to Jerry. Jerry worked on his marriage instead of getting a divorce and replacing Beth with a child bride. And he didn’t invite the hookers around his apartment to disney and 400 dinners.
@neubaufahrzeug93394 ай бұрын
@@liselotteline8596 agree Jerry is definitely better the only thing they have in common is the ability to use how pathetic they are as a weapon. Boogie vaguely alluding to offing himself when confronted about his "cancer" the first time made it really click in my head what kind of person he was.
@liselotteline85964 ай бұрын
@@neubaufahrzeug9339 It's fascinating how he's worse than a caricature. He invented the Francis persona as an example of a pathetic figure and, while Francis is wholesome compared to him. He is so over the top bad that he would be considered too unrealistic if he was a character in a soap opera. He checkmarks every trope and cliché nerds have, while he's probably creating new ones for future generations, to make fun of. I'm honestly impressed by that. Nobody could have achieved what he tried to avoid, even if others would have given their best to do the worst.
@unpopularopinions74074 ай бұрын
I actually always really disliked that speech because I never saw how it applied to Jerry at all (well, that plus Rick just being an infinitely worse person in every way imaginable). Mind you, I jumped ship after Season 3 so I don’t know what all Jerry may have done afterward, but at no point _prior to_ that speech did Jerry even once give me the impression that he used how pathetic he was as a “weapon”. If anything, wasn’t he in constant denial of that fact? Wasn’t he desperate to convince himself and others that he _wasn’t_ pathetic? I do think that the ‘predator’ description fits Boogie to a T, but I also don’t see Boogie in Jerry at all.
@neubaufahrzeug93394 ай бұрын
@@unpopularopinions7407 It gets played into more for later seasons but you have moments like locking beth out the car to face the crazed homeless man and his reaction to morty and rick being taken by the citadel. The family and the audeince can't be mad at him in these moments because of how pathetic the show portays him as. Thats the part i see in boogie where all his outburst and wierd comments were lessened because he was a sad older guy struggling with his weight and later finances.

@shotgunmasterQL4 ай бұрын
@@gottesurteil3201 I think he was very combative on Twitter (especially towards the end of his life, probably due to overall not feeling that great) and he wasn't too flexible. Once he had his sights on you for unethical behavior, poor journalism, or overall wrongdoing in gaming context, he was typically very harsh from what I remember. Not to the point of "I'll never forgive this", but still he didn't exactly go soft on people. That helped to build a consistent character and morals for him and his content, but it also probably didn't help with a segment of the public that would have fallen against him on an issue. Also there's not a single person dead or alive that I respect more after checking their Twitter feed, so I don't exactly feel like defending his either, I'm sure he spilt some tism on his Twitter that wouldn't put him in favorable light, although one of the largest things that was a factor in casting a very negative view of him to many people was his support of Gamer Gate (I don't remember to what degree he supported it, but I recall he was pretty involved in it early on). Otherwise I'm just going to expect everyone has a Twitter debuff to varying degrees. As for his content, he highlighted all sorts of different games, all the way from small indie games to large AAAs, he would report on scummy and unethical behavior from developers, publishers, gaming news sites, fraudsters, and he was also pretty keen on reporting on the quality of PC ports of games. These days a bunch of people are doing similar things as Totalbiscuit, but I think that due to his solid character and variety of topics he covered, when he reviewed or recommended a neat game, he could absolutely make or break the success of that game (well, maybe not with massive AAA games). If he said that game X is pretty cool and it doesn't have enough attention for how good it is, that game would receive quite a bit more attention after his video. I think he was also one of the strongest and also most critical voices about Steam? I don't remember if there are any solid things and changes that can be attributed to him, but he often talked about the good and the bad of the platform, and what needed to be changed for the betterment of the platform. Basically, I would say he was a powerhouse of games journalism and reporting, PC gaming, indie games and Steam, and overall at combating unethical behavior in that space.

Just on Friday, Boogie was on a live stream with a bunch of his critics, including Destiny, who's insane at the movement, and Boogie started threatening to unalive himself on stream in front of everyone. They were attacking him lying about having cancer, and he was trying to pretend that he admits he's a bad person, but he actually really does have cancer, blah blah blah. Then when everyone didn't fall for it, he started saying everyone else is just as bad as him. Then he started threatening to unalive himself on stream, and that didn't work either. He's been outed as a manipulative compulsive liar and a sociopath, and he can't stand that his strategy doesn't work anymore. Also, it's wild that Dr. Don Wario has been vindicated. His diagnosis of Boogie turned out to be true. Don't forget that Boogie pulled out his piece and hit the school. He's literally something that starts with scho o- and ends in -o oter.

"that documentary was not a good idea for Boogie" That is Boogie. A slow moving trainwreck of not good ideas. Each new bad idea is another derailing car that careens off the track and destroys another chunk of the wall that conceals who he truly is. The documentary was just multiple train cars derailing at once, exploding in a devastating shockwave followed by an out of control firestorm, but somehow he managed to top that by scamming his audience with crypto, using his cancer as an excuse, and then being outed as a liar about said cancer.

Boogie is operating on the lowest rungs of moral development; those of acting purely out of blind egoism, and his only ethical code, if any, is to act to avoid punishment: that's in part why he's such a pathological liar and why he'll only ever admit fault for show, as a way feigning humility to try and take heat off himself. He's basically just a rotten five-year-old with all the vices of adulthood, at age *fifty.* With such terminal deficiency in development, it should come as no surprise that Boogie has zero idea how real money is made. He's probably one of those people who seriously thinks you can just print money until everyone in the world is a trillionaire and not have the entire planet's economy crash, and he in his Dunning-Kruger cognitive dissonance would get angry if you explained why it'd crash harder than Crash Bandicoot on a bender with Critical Drinker, Chris Farley, and Princess Diana.

As someone on a weightloss journey of my own (though nowhere near as big, pun intended, as boogie should be on) it is all about finding what works for you. I love eating unhealthy foods, but also don't perticularly mind exercise too much as long as I got my audiobooks. So my strategy is; If I eat snacks, all calories must be burned through exercise. If I eat an unhealthy meal, at least half the calories must be burned through exercise. Obviously, being both strict with diet and exercise is the best. But I know I would not manage that long term. As a bonus, I am starting to get a quite good constitution.

The two healthiest people I've ever known were fat. I mean, regular exercise, especially the one who was sort of a fanatic, very strict diet of vegetables and lean protein, carefully prepared portion sizes, even snacks were measured out (and they were healthy snacks), very rarely had any sort of junk food, didn't drink soda, and so on, and yet still fat. Now, don't get me wrong, the MORBIDLY obese definitely need to just eat less, because that's generally very hard to get to unless you're on some crazy meds or something, but losing weight when you're naturally chunky, and actually keeping it off (because you rebound a fair amount even if you stick to the routine)? Nah, it's not so easy.
