Just bought a Kona three days ago. Not sure what road noise everyone is talking about maybe because my last car was extremely noisy and this Kona is super quiet for me. I suppose it depends on what you drive before. Also I can listen to my music at 6 and can hear it just fine. I know people say the interior seems cheap but I see it as a great way to keep it clean and looking nice inside. I love my new Kona!

Did you get the 2.0? I have that motor in my Elantra. 64k no problems, 38-39mpg winter, 47-48mpg in the summer. I also have a manual transmission. Great motor. Good luck with it!

How is it holding up
@storytrailing
@storytrailing 2 ай бұрын
@@Zarllos well lol about 6 months after this comment my motor got destroyed by piston rings that were not heat treated. My Kona wasn’t apart of the recall list so I thought I was safe from this issue but nope! I hassled with the dealership for two months and was able to get my car fixed but the rental problem was a nightmare. After that fix I started having transmission problems. Mind you, this is brand new Kona I didn’t buy it used. So once the transmission problems started about two years in I ended up just selling my Kona end of last year to the dealership and got another new car. I’m now in a 2023 Subaru WRX. Although I loved its looks and comfy space the mechanical problems were just too much to handle for a brand new car. It was my first new car so I was very surprised at all the problems I had. I don’t think I’d even buy another Hyundai but I have no bad juju against the brand.

@@Zarllos oh yeah also started having electrical problems as well but I heard the Kona has been one of the most unreliable models compared to the other brands.

I have the limited, which has most of the ultimate's good stuff minus some unnecessary fluff. after 3500 miles , get 32-35 mpg . use full synthetic oil, first changed after 700 miles. as long as you lay off the turbo, fantastic mpg, but power readily available if you need it. handling is actually better than the Elantra Sport, since you get i.r.s. with the AWD.

I live in Canada and the ultimate is the level you need to go to. upgraded soft dash, tons of very helpful sensors, love the HUD,Ride seems to be quieter than the base Kona, Ward's top 10 engines (1.6 T) , love the 7 speed dual clutch ( very quick responses) AWD is standard on the ultimate in Canada and 3 drive selections ( econo, normal and sport). The steering really stiffens up on sport mode, Nice !! I've had it for almost a year, best car i've owned , 20k on it so far with not one "little" problem. It has the dual axle back exhaust which really adds to to look and sound. I'm 66 years old so i don't drive it hard.

Those GenX'ers like me are thinkin "0-60 in 8 seconds? That's better than a Corvette!" Ya'll forget that we grew up with '80's "muscle cars" that did 0-60 in 15 seconds with V8's and that was the best out there.....

The wind noise was a Hyundai flaw , adding spline for a window screening will stop it, having low profile tires is also a issue and no interior/exterior noise dampening material all adds up to loud ride.

I don't understand. The new Kona 2021 shown in Korea have different front LED design, back LED design, the H logo is on the hood, the hood has different angles. Your review looks like 2020 Kona. What is going on? Even the 2021 shown off in Korea has USB header at the back, your review does not. Also the 2021 has 10-inch infotainment screen, and much larger dash display.

The Venue is smaller and cheaper. I entered the Hyundai dealership to look at a Venue and came home with a Kona. Love it. Venue was too narrow in the drivers seat and too underpowered for me. My Kona 1.6t AWD is a rocket. Can't recommend it enough.

I just can't make myself like the front end of these cars. And the roof is too low. It reminds me of a glorifed Ford Fiesta hatchback. Needs to be taller and a bit wider. And the interior looks cheap, even on the higher end version. I wanted to like it, but I just can't.

I would get the 2.0 non turbo, non GDI. I have the 2.0 in my 2018 Elantra. It's got 58k, been trouble free. Did have a software update for the thermostat. It's been great. The 1.6 turbo requires more general maintenance, like spark plug changes really early, and you can avoid the GDI issues. Dont get me wrong, it's not a bad motor, just requires more care. Honestly, at 17, unless you got money to burn, I'd get a used toyota or honda that wont cause a high payment. At 17, there's alot of things you may decide to do and you dont want that payment over your head. But if you do it, good luck!

If you buy a Hyundai be prepared to spend minimum of $175-$500 every month on BS problems you will never experience in a quality car like an Honda. Every other month you will have to replace 1 0f 6 to 8 catalytic converters that go out for no reason like clock work one after the other. Your gas line will need replacing, then your gas tank that rotted from the inside for no apparent reason. Your check engine light will be on more than it is off. When you finally replace the entire engine and decide you've had enough, and sell it for next to nothing, you'll buy yourself an Acura and realize that it never needs maintenance, that it isn't normal to be without your car every other month because it's in the shop again, and you'll swear like I did to NEVER buy another Hyundai again!!!
