You definitely need to brake boost those 0-60 runs, especially in a turbo-charged vehicle. Build the rpm to about 2-2,500 and launch it.

Turn off the traction control, rev to about 1,800RPM, and your head will bounce off the headrest. 0-60 in just over 4.5 seconds is easily done in the C400 4Matic

Great 0-60 video Dave. I had the privilege to drive the c400 4matic for 4 days when it first came out. As Dave was saying, what a beautiful car. Simply leave its competition in the dust. To answer some of the questions regarding these 0-60 times comparing to autobytel's times is simple. When Dave was doing the runs, he did not brake torque (left foot on brake while flooring the gas paddle.) It makes huge differences. I tried brake torque launch, and the 0-60 times were well under 5 seconds. Also, assuming the road is flat. That weird time of 5.96 during sport mode is explainable. Turbo cars performances are usually affected by several perimeters. Most common ones are elevation, ambient temperature and BAT(boost air temperature). If air is thin, performance goes down. If ambient temp is high and humid (harder to compress warm humid air for turbo), performance goes down. if Boost air temperature goes up(or so called heat soak, where the air compressed was heat up by turbo and engine, and the intercooler cannot cool the boosted air fast enough), performance goes down. In general, hot air forces ecu to pull back timing, hence, bad performance. Great Video @IMDaveErickson

The runs were in the late 5s probably because it wasn't launched. He floored the car from idle rpms. This method actually gives a better perspective compared to launching since not every time does one launch a car in everyday life.

My first impressions and reactions when I first bought my 2013 335i were the same as yours Dave. Coming from a 184 hp 2002 BMW 325i to a brand new (at the time) 300 hp 2013 335i was incredible. My 'new' 3 is wayyyy faster than my old 3, and just as fuel efficient too! The new C400 has a gorgeous interior and I can't wait to see how it forces BMW and audi to step up their game on their next generations of the 3 series and a4.

Personally, I'm a BMW owner and loyalist.. but I really love what Mercedes has done with the new C-class and their sedans in general.. They truly are works of art design wise.. The only thing I dont like is the gear selector on the steering column which reminds me of a minivan, but its a minor gripe considering the rest of the car is very nice

Same here. I've always been (and probably always will be) a BMW driver. I have to give mercedes kudos on the new s and c though. And the interiors are leaps and bounds ahead of the old one and I love the new c interior much better than my 2013 335i interior. This is alright though as it'll force BMW to step up their game.

I think it's a great car too but I personally prefer a manual gearbox. If I move to a big city with tons of traffic I'll probably look into the C class w/ distronic. I currently have the f30 335i with a 6 speed manual gearbox. Am I the only one that thinks the rear of the C class looks awkwardly stubby? I also feel like the car could be shorter and wider. Maybe the C class coupe will fulfill that

To have the right metrics besides the comments about the right RPM to hit the gas you should consider driving the same way to avoid differences in uphill/downhill. You might think it was flat but it is always different and can impact Milliseconds.

Good times without brake torquing the engine, which is standard practice in these runs by the mags. Mercedes claims 0-60 in 5.2 at sea level. You should brake-torque to get the best times. This car properly equipped is around $60k.

Either you're doing a car review or you're showcasing the car's 0-60 times. This video is both or neither, I'm not sure which.. You should change the name of this video to "Man is unrealistically excited about a conservative luxury sedan's mediocre 0-60 sprint". Not that this is a bad video... Maybe do a review video and then shoot a separate 1 minute 0-60 video which should only consist of a GoPro pointed at the speedometer while you yell Punch it!
