Reviewers seemingly always miss the point of this vehicle. This vehicle is like a toned down HMMWV and reviewers typically review the damned thing like it's a Kia Sorento. "It's expensive.. it's outdated... it doesn't run on love and butterflies... I want more LCD screens...!, where are my LCD screens?'. It's almost like Justin Beiber is reviewing cars now a days.

For car enthusiasts and those in the know... the LC is the best bang for your buck. Practically unchanged since 2008 but on a proven bullet proof platform... it drives like an S-Class on road and you're able to tackle anything off-road in stock form. My 2013 runs like it was fresh off the manufacturing plant.

Just took mine to Mt Washington, 8hr drive and to the peak! Couldn't be happier with it, built like a tank and no need for all the electronic gimmicks. Ppl forget as technology moves forward in vehicles, even stealerships can't fix certain problems, forget your favorite mechanic. As for gas, Ppl don't buy this to worry about it. And Ppl don't realize a lot of the high end trucks now need SUPER/PREMIUM GAS!!! L.C. takes REGULAR! This vehicle drives small believe it or not, hood line is short and visibility is good all around the truck, even without all the cameras. If you want a firmer ride, get 20" wheels. Love love my TLC, it's not bold or brassy, don't need a vehicle to say I'M HERE! In the end, this truck's cost of ownership won't cost you a mortgage! Btw, the braking you need to get used to it, 4Runner is the same way. The braking "boosting" kicks in a second later. That's the best way for me to put it.

A new Land Cruiser is $76K while an Escalade is $64K on cars dot com. While a 2009 with less than150,000 miles the LC is $26K and a Escalade is $17K. A new LX570 3-row is $92K while a 2009 is $27K. So the LC drops $50K and the Escalade only drops $48K. Toyota LC is not luxurious and should not have that depreciation compared to another luxury marque.the LX is more like a luxury vehicle in it’s high depreciation of $65 in the last decade.

@@noeagosto9231 Lexus looses it value just like any other luxury vehicle. So I wouldn't believe the wive's tale about Lexus holding their value. Residual values are set by the banks and the food chain of auction and dealerships just play along to make as much money as they can out the consumers. Edmunds long term test of the Lexus GS loosing over 1/3 of it's value from MSRP. "Resale and Depreciation: We accumulated 20,940 miles on our 2013 Lexus GS 350. Edmunds' TMV® Calculator valued the vehicle at $47,431 based on a private-party sale. The market did not seem to support this price, as CarMax offered us $40,000 and the best we could muster from a private partywas $41,000. This made for 30-percent depreciation from our paid price of $58,377. We were disappointed

SUVs, especially Toyota & Lexus SUVs, have exceptional resale value due to high demand. Sedans from almost all brands, have higher depreciation due to much lower demand. Lexus discontinued the GS 350 series due to low consumer demand. It, the GS 350’s resale value is higher than any of it’s competitors of the same year, class & size. Also, NEVER EVER consider a CarMax purchase quote a reliable source of any car’s real value. They’ll always give you a very “low ball” purchase price.

Back in 2008, my dream car was the Toyota Land Cruiser, but since I realized I don't go off-roading all the time, and I'm conscious about fuel consumption, coincidentally in my country fuel prices soared in 2008, and ten years later after 7 years of low prices the prices are soaring again right now, so my dream car from the late 2000's is the third generation Lexus RX. The design is beautiful and it's also relatively fuel efficient.

The Diesels Toyota is selling in Europe do NOT meet US and Canadian emission standards. Judging by the fact Toyota is pulling their Diesel cars off the market in Europe, I suspect they have little interest in expanding their Diesel range in North America. If they decide to bring their Diesels to this continent then I will be the first to congratulate them.

Good review but it is a shame you do not have the 4.5 Litre diesel in North America as you get around 280 horsepower but you get a MASSIVE 516lb ft of torque! I know of a guy who bought the older version, a 2003 and it has the 4.2 Litre diesel but he has nearly 600,000 miles on it and has seriously had no trouble with it. He is an agricultural contractor and has some really big tractors like Fendt and JCB Fast Trac and some very big New Holland and one of his tractors weighs over 10 tons and he has had to tow it once 3 miles to a yard when it ran out of fuel, it had no problem.

I agree! LC is such a capable, reliable vehicle, but what has kept me away (now that I can afford it) is all the luxury stuff, like infotainment screens in the headrests, three rows etc. Dislike! The Toyota Prado is being sold in Europe (?) in several versions, one of which is a delivery configuration! THAT would be my dream vehicle. Why is fuel economy even mentioned? These large vehicles serve a purpose that does not include fuel economy. Sure, the guberment requires vehicle manufacturers to display it on the window sticker. If someone wants to buy one of these large trucks and then complain about the fuel economy they deserve to laughed at! My wife’s Suburban gets roughly the same mpg. So what, she never runs out of room! Y’all keep buying the fuel sippers, hybrids, and electric cars. That’s just more petrol for us that have these trucks for the purposes they were designed for and not just a status symbol.

Just a comment on terminology. The Landcruiser is a proper highly capable offroader. It's not really a SUV, which is a term we use in Australia for a vehicle which looks like an offroader, but doesn't have all the necessary capabilities. Commonly, SUVs copy some of the features of offroaders such as high ground clearance, and high seating position providing good visibility, and the boxy shape of the body. And not much else, such as a high/low gearbox with 4 wheel drive, etc. The BMW X5 is an example of a SUV. It has limited off road capability.

This is the Land Cruiser Sahara (aka 200). In some emerging markets they have a smaller SUV called Land Cruiser Prado (aka 150).

If you have to take a long trip such as traveling around the world from country to another country for day by day, take a month on car passing from all kind of roads. This monster is the number one choice, you will see its powerful, not only its engine, but the feeling comfortable on car also ! This video only shows a bit experience with outside and inside looking of the car ! My personal opinion, this is the world number one truly SUV ....

We currently have a 2015 Toyota Sienna for our 4 yr old twins. We are doing our homework on what our next vehicle will be, and this review is the first one to show both forward and rear facing car seats as to how much room the second row seating will give. What would also be nice is actual items (luggage or golf clubs) showing cargo space. Best reviewer in my opinion. 👍🇨🇦

18 HWY 13 City is pretty much compared to my 2003 Mitsubishi Montero. So upgrading to this wont be too much difference haha. I think LC is such a niche SUV I don't really NEED the luxury say on like a Land Rover but the LC just works. My Montero is a huge car although I like how you can switch from rear drive to 4wd on the fly. WISH Mitsubishi would bring the Pajero to the US. I will be moving to Colorado in a few years and I think by then I would be interested in one of these trucks I think over a Land Rover.

You don't buy a land cruiser and cry about a mpg. It's s designed to last a very long time like a tank and it's reliability it's just amazing.

Nice review but this SUV is crap, can’t fit anyone but kids in the back, 13 mpg, the tech is antiquated and the rear seats still fold up! Wow, this thing is a dinosaur.

Now I like these, but for the majority people who are not driving them through hot zones with "UN" painted on the side, the Highland is probably the much better vehicle. Also, I find it amusing that my gf's 20k Hyundai Elantra has a higher level of tech than this vehicle (including Android auto). I think the 100 series was probably the best LC, other than the engine.

This vehicle has no real purpose. 1) It cannot be called a true offroader for lack of a locking rear differential. I would buy a 4Runner instead if offroad was the mission 2) No passenger and cargo space. I would go with Sequoia if passenger and cargo volume is the concern 3) It may be built tough, but technology changes every second now. No use keeping it for 25 years. 4) Too over priced. Go with a Navigator or Escalade if style is the mission
