Armies used to stand facing each other and fire muskets. Now they often take cover and fire as they advance. Time and technology change how soldiers act and react on the battlefield. Do you think that contemporary tactics will be the same 1000 years in the future in some far off solar system. It's a make believe situation. Insectoids, green blood, multiple societies of different species of sentient beings, and accurate depictions of how artillery units operate is your issue? Medics carry weapons too dude, now, in active duty, they are trained just like any soldier. Have you not studied history? There are medics with Purple Hearts, medals, even a dentist that took out an enemy battalion in WW2.
