I think a large part of why it’s so “out of control” now is because people NEED that physical connection to other people that just isn’t quite produced with online connections. It sort of feels like we are getting what we need, but deep down (and unconsciously), we can still tell we’re alone in a room looking at a screen so we crave more.

Social media is trying to make narcissists of us all. It’s designed to do that. Some people can navigate those waters safely but I’m my experience the younger a person is, the less protected they are from that way of thinking. They are growing up thinking that this is the point of life. Hopefully with age and life experience they learn better.

Fcking CRINGE, especially when you consider the fact many of these people are well over 18 or 21… Pretty pathetic seeing grown women seeking validation online via TikTok, Twitter, KZbin, etc. seeking artificial validation. Honestly? The answer is even more simple: Delete all social media from your life. It's a net negative. Boasting in person is definitely something to be aware of and manage for yourself, but the social media and posting aspect is a one and done kind of problem. Cut those apps out of your life and spend any time you would have spent scrolling reading a book or hanging with friends/family, or lying in the grass watching the clouds go by, or better yet TRAINING!

Exactly! False bragging is bad. I myself probably did more “bragging” about fitness and stuff, when I did heavy lifts or scaled a mountain. But I can also see how you can inspire people to get wealthy as long as you share your journey and give tips on how to achieve what you achieved. I once heard that to be a successful influencer your channel, page, whatever has to bring value to the followers. While not everyone’s goal is to be an influencer, I think it’s a good mindset to bring to social media and life itself. Be of value to the people around you, bring your best to the world and if you share your success, also share your story to give guidance to those striving to be a bit like you.

Its all a mindset thing. When someone post something you can look at it as a flex and be sour or you can look at it and be like: “good for them thats badass!” And use that energy to go out and achieve your own goals. Even if the individual is “attention seeking” it’s a simple “good for them” and move on.

Introverts need to face fears etc. And really reach out as an extrovert when necessary imo. I've always been someone who doesn't like or feel comfortable with attention. I'm at a point now though where I'm starting to realize that there's two sides to the coin of imbalance in that realm of attention seeking, where it can be bad to avoid and isolate just as well as it is to need it constantly for every and any mundane thing. I think it all ties back to your childhood and experiences growing up - and the feedback and input you received or didn't receive at all. On social media, I think the best compromise to justify a personal presence there is the documenting of consistency in areas of your life which intimately correlate to you as a person. Hobbies, talents, skills, family, health, education. Out of that, I think it's just vanity or status seeking.

Bragging really becomes negative when you’re inflating your own ego or inflating things to gain a bigger reaction in a negative type of manner. There is positive bragging as in achieving things, being rewarded generously, and other types of ways along those lines. It really goes down to the intention of the brag which makes it a positive or a negative thing. It can only be ascertained in a certain way by those seeing it but the real reason behind it is the one executing the action

THE KEY: If you worked hard to achieve something and you do, it comes across fine when posting about it with a sense of gratitude and appreciation. When you get lucky in a way where you didn't have to struggle or put in effort for something, or it's something beyond your control, then it's best not to post about it. GENERALLY: you just need to be sincere with your posts, say what you mean and know your audience. Save some posts for your private groups chats of like-minded contacts and keep public posts generic and for when you genuinely have something important to say or share.

Bragging is posting myself doing something impressive. Celebrating is when others post me doing something impressive. Social media was built to brag/show off.

The competitive shooting crowd (posted internet scores) suffers from precisely what you're talking about. The only problem is the "score" is not always favorable, and you end up with humility, IMHO.

I have borderline personality disorder an in no way do I seek attention. It’s quite the opposite really. I feel really shameful when I make a ass out of myself because I can’t control my emotions which just makes me isolate more.. I guess everyone is different

Oh, absolutely! There are many times different manifestations of BPD, because people have different coping mechanisms and different traumas. Many times, CPTSD and BPD also gets confused to the detriment of psychiatric patients who were labelled a BPD when in fact, they have CPTSD. It is helpful to think about it as a harmful behaviour and a behaviour that is more likely seen by people with certain personality disorders. It is not black and white which means isolation can also be a hallmark that is more likely seen by people with personality disorders. In the end, we have to all deal with our own unskillful behaviours regardless of what one might call it.

A lot of people develop an emotional connection to an app on the phone to the point there’s nothing your partner can do to compete with that amount of attention. Then all of a sudden one of them is emotionally cheating and lying about it. It's the best.

It's horrible when you work in the film industry and when you casually talk about your work day, which is simply just "work" for you, people who cannot relate think you're bragging or name dropping, but you don't. It's very isolating indeed sometimes. Suddenly, you feel like you can't have friends outside of the industry because you can't even talk about your day or problems, or when a good thing happens like having the chance to work with a childhood hero of yours and you're so excited you want to share it. People need to pay attention to what bragging actually sounds like or they come from a place of envy.

I have catch my self, not bragging of expensive things I bought, but bragging about getting things for cheap or free Ahahaha🤣 I realized I was doing same thing but reversed 🤣🤣🤣 I caught my self bragging often, but this one is a funny one. I am generally more tolerant to people doing it because I have seen it in me. I normally will just say "oh good". Working with children for years, taught me a lot, one thing I learned was that we are children in adult bodies running around. Some are babies, others are 3, 5, years.. others are graduating from high school hahahah. We just have to keep growing and maturing in our childish behavior, what ever it is Thank you Jocko ❤

Sure, here is a version of the Roman Catholic Prayer of Contrition: "Oh my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended You, and I detest all my sins because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of Hell, but most of all because they offend You, my God, who are all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Your grace, to confess my sins, to do penance, and to amend my life. Amen." Please note that there are variations of this prayer, but this is a commonly used version. Do you want to hear 👂 the King 👑 of the TRIBE of GAD {Righteous Vengeance} version?! 😡 it begins like this: “ Oh my WILLINKOVITZ,… we can see your Irish ☘️ NOSE 👃 needs an adjustment… 🤙… 👺 🥊 …” lol 🃏 Post {Hollywood} Scripts: Happy {belated} Birthday Virg ♍️ 🌞

I share online to hold myself more accountable. If I tell everyone I know this is what I'm going to do, then I better get up and do it. If I only talk to my wife about it, then I can excuse it away later if I don't do it, and because she loves me, she'll let me get away with that. Sometimes, it's more like a postcard, especially hunting. Kind of a "wish you were here but obviously you can't be" sort of thing

I can explain the “making comments to make people feel uncomfortable” thing. There’s this girl in my boyfriend’s friend group and she is one of the most obnoxious attention seekers I’ve ever seen. She told my boyfriend to “Talk dirty to me.” Right in front of me “as a joke.” She’s made similar comments to make other girls feel uncomfortable- only the girls. She has worn nipple pasties as a shirt and a g string in front of my boyfriend, sang to herself out loud in the middle of a party, etc. It seems like she just gets a rise out of getting people to look at her for ANY reason
