That's deep. Thanks for sharing. That's one reason we try to be open with strangers about our kids' implants. People will stare (and try to not make it look like they are), but when my wife notices she'll speak up and tell them what those things are on their head and how they work, etc. It breaks the ice and breaks down any judgement they've already made (why they don't speak like other 3 and 5 year-olds, etc.). The goal is that hopefully the kids will grow up to be just as open about it, and hopefully be less likely to let thoughtless comments get to them.

I love this! Thanks for sharing your experience. My parents did the same when I first got my implant. Once I was comfortable with talking about it, I would begin telling strangers how they worked. My family and I are so familiar with the Cochlear Implant that often we forget that it is not super common to everyone else. Thanks again for sharing!

Thank you David. Just had my implant surgery on right ear yesterday. Activation Mar. 5. I hope I can glorify God and help others through my experience as you have. Blessings on you.

Mike Morehouse, wow, that is awesome! You will have to let me know how March 5th goes. I remember both my activation days and the start of a new journey. Keep in touch and God bless! -David
