you forget to say that is a cheaper to buy then the other brands.. my bro has bougth the gomez replica and its really umbelivable how good that bike is! rieju is doing a fantastic job at home i have probably the last gasgas from 2020 ...just few were produced before ktm came in ...and working by hand on the gasgas or on the rieju gomez replica you really see a lot of improvments even on little things ! the most impotant mods are keihin 36 the flywheel waight and the head ..those mods really makes the engine much much better and on both bikes we change to 12/51 thats the right gearing!

That starter is also oil bath. So if you keep the oil clean and dont let it dry out, it works great. I did turn mine to a wet setup. Works fine. Been through a couple motors. Nothing else has failed. 500+ hrs

Many say that these are a peaky engine for a 300 and better out of the box for GNCC rather than hard enduro. An S3 extreme head and a Rieju power parts flywheel weight make them chug as good as anything apparently. The Smart Carb people recommend a 38mm for this bike too, something to do with a larger crank case volume than other 300's. Also Rieju recommend that the electric start is only used once the engine is warm, kick it when it's cold.

Thank you for the awesome video!! Im really curious to see your opinion on the brand, because i chose '23 mr pro to be my 1st enduro bike(i used to do trackdays on a cbr600rr). It is my 1st enduro bike and it really took a beating, but it held up, had 1 starter relay replaced and front wheel bearings and im still rocking the original piston(102hrs). I've tried some tpi and tbi bikes but they cant replace the power kick you get from this carb. :D Loving your videos and thank you for the tutorials! Your a clutch master! I have a 23 MRPRO but just an average rider. I took it out for my first few rides a few weeks ago and absolutely love the mid range power but I did find it much easier to stall than my other bikes. I'm just running the stock jetting so it might not be perfect but it felt pretty good to me. It took me a while to get the hang of it. I had to change the way I rode it by keeping the rpms up a little more compared to my Xtrainer but after a while started to get the hang of it. I also had to soften the suspension quite a bit as it was slightly harsh out of the box. I do like it, but I actually think I might prefer my 2022 Rieju Ranger with a Gnarly pipe for singletrack stuff and the pro for the faster stuff. Loctite your kickstand bolts, both of them!!!

I went to a smartcarb on mine. I got sick of jetting while traveling. It’s taken away a TINY bit of power down low compared to when it was perfectly jetted on a perfect day. Great compromise

For high elevation go to a 160 main and a NECJ needle, 2nd clip position from top. And set the float level down just a tad. That will help a lot.

Get rid of the n1ef needle and go to a NECJ. That will help a ton and make it run even better. I have an 18 GasGas with over 500 hrs. The best bike ive rode. Pretty much no problems besides maintenance and wear and tear.

Had a used gasgas125 the original company before the buy out. It was the best handling bike ive ever ridden even to this day. Gasgas had their bikes dialed. Also had a 6speed 250. Around 100mph top speed and rock solid stable but some simultaneously quick turning. Wild engineering and if Reiju is from the same geniuses itll be a turn carving monster.

I had a friend years ago that had a gas gas quad. I'm not sure what model it was or the size but it was a 2 stroke and it was surprisingly fast. In a straight flat line he'd pull away from my 2000 kx250

Had a 300 PRO for 100hours. And I learned and loved a lot that bike. At first, the engine was super snappy, but after jetting and a S3 Extreme head it changed a lot the power delivery. The suspension was amazing after dialed for me. The frame it felt a bit longer (trail angle) unlike the other brands. It's a thirsty engine, just let you know 😅 The only bad thing for me about that bike was the bendix actually. It kept breaking very 30hours and I kept welded. So I sold the bike with a brand new bendix and got a Sherco 300 SEF. Cheers

Love the legacy Gas Gas bikes. Full sized frame, unlike the newer Orange Empire bikes, which feel like X-Trainer's in comparison. Miki Arpa's design is a masterpiece, and the KYB suspension gilds the lily. Love the Rieju!

I bought my first Rieju at 14 years old, a beautiful 1983 Rieju Maraton 50. I had a 22 MR300 Pro that was a sweet looking bike. The powervalve wasn’t set correctly from the factory (easily fixed but initially I thought the bike was a dog). The clutch was draggy and the fuel consumption was excessive, even with what seemed like good jetting and trying a SC2 smartcarb. Fun hard enduro bike, very stable and predictable with good controls.

Making sure the float height was set right has made a big difference in how much fuel I’m consuming. I think if they updated the clutch, it would be a perfect bike! But honestly, the six spring seems to perform OK in the abuse that I’m giving it. Definitely excited to put more time on it! Thanks for watching.

Interesting. My 300 pro is more fuel efficient than all of my friends on more modern 300s. I’m running a smart carb. Clutch drag is definitely there. I’ve found using GRO oil is the only way to avoid 99% of the drag. I believe that’s what they were filled with new years back?

I hope you plan to scrutinize all settings over time. Having an '18 GP300, 12-50 is my choice, but still use 1st gear a lot. What elevation and temps were for 38-168 jets to work? I still find low grunt not good.38mm??, maybe installing quad flow torque wing or any similar product would increase bottom, if not having a spare 36 laying around.

They have basically disappeared in the UK there is a factory rider here that has stopped riding because he doesn’t like the bike … that said its horses for courses, but I don’t see a lot of development on it! I’m looking forward to there new bikes.

Alfredo Gomez has been riding and racing all over the world using the 38mm SC2 SmartCarb for over a year now, as has top US Rieju hard enduro racer Quinn Wentzel. They have to breathe.

any insight as to why the gomez edition comes stock with a 36mm carb, but the race and pro version come with a 38mm? why move up to 38mm on the gomez edition when moving to smart carb if stock is 36mm?

@@remedialone6987 conventional wisdom regarding conventional carburetion holds true in this case. The 36mm Keihin PWK will provide an improvement in low throttle response compared to the 38mm. That being said it's ironic that the Gomez Edition comes with a carb size that Alfredo has never used (apart from perhaps testing) during his time on the Rieju MR 300. SmartCarbs have a very different throttle rate of opening compared to a conventional round-bore design in that they use an inverted egg shaped venturi. What that means is that the carb acts like a smaller bore carb at low throttle openings, prioritizing velocity and signal at the metering rod to promote fuel pick-up and atomization. The shape opens up through the mid range to the full bore/flow mid to top which is what these engines have always been designed to make use of. So in essence with the 38mm SmartCarb you're getting the best of both worlds. Smaller carb snap, without smaller carb limitation of peak flow/performance. For what it's worth our 36mm, 38mm, and even 40mm all have nearly identical throttle rates of opening through around 1/3rd throttle. It's above there that their sizing differences become apparent.

Great content! Standard gearing is 13/48 are you sure this isn't what's on the bike? Like the bike you are testing mine needed 1st gear for climbing gnarly hills. Once I changed to 13/50 I could do most climbs in 2nd. 13/50 works well for me.

I’ve never needed a dealer for mine. Bought it slightly used. Over 200 hours on stock piston and clutch. The bike has been highly abused too. I change the transmission oil every ride. (Roughly ride 2-5 hours every time out)

Hey Rich, Love your vids. I've been working for a long time trying to get my front wheel in the air with control - the key word being "control". I've repeatedly watched and practiced your 10 part series which has dramatically improved my skill and confidence BUT I am not progressing as it relates to a single blip to lift my front tire which is frustrating the crap outta me. One question. I know the bite point of my clutch. When you describe front brake on, rev engine for collection and clutch handle in do you mean clutch handle in just a hair short of the bite point vice completely pulled to the handgrip? I am having a mental block - which I think is clutch position related- regarding the timing of releasing clutch to collect revved energy to lift the front tire w control. I've been using full clutch deflection to the handgrip and trying to time the release of deflection w little success. The minuscule times I am successful I'm so surprised by it I feel like the bike is outta control resulting in nearly dismounting from the pegs to run behind the bike but the front tire returns to the ground just shy of bailing off the bike. I figure I've become conditioned to collect dissipating energy safely but I have no feeling for the front tire lifting w expectation bias unless I get lucky 1 outta 50 attempts. Any suggestion by you would be greatly appreciated. My objective is to master the double blip ... or pivot turn ... among others. My focus has been trying to lift the front tire at slow speed w control - currently it only occurs by what feels like luck.

The stalling that you talked about on the river isn't you, it's most likely a combination of the jetting (the stock jetting favors faster riding more) and probably the clutch needs a bit of riding to work 100% properly

@@jermz8273 tough to say and probably related to many reasons. The manufacturers always have to work out the kinks when coming out with a new bike and that takes time. Cody Webb mentioned as much in a recent interview as one of the reasons he stepped away from Sherco to go to Yamaha. Notably Alfredo has brought his SmartCarbs with him to Beta which we'd like to think may have played a role but then we're a bit biased there ;)

@@coleguello796 yes and no. Like a said in my comment, they are breaking things that most other brands aren’t. And breaking without crashing it. I believe Quinn blew a head gasket.. on a two stroke at Keystone lmao. Suspension issues, starter issues, clutch issues. Dude had to pit at numerous races and not just for fuel & hydration.

I have a 2019 ec300, 220 hrs.. its been to hell and back .. I run a lectron which I find helps with the lug but rips on the fire trails, a clake one light clutch lever and 13/51 which is perfect for this stuff (12 is too much imo) .. I also have a 23 sherco. They ride very similar although the geometry is noticeable different. (The gasser is a longer bike) My starter is due for replacement but has been reliable. It struggles on cold start (as alot do) a 240cca battery helps alot.

I think it helps, somewhat, to be gifted rider with lots of practice to handle pretty much any bike and make it look good. I'd be interested to see you handle a well cared for KDX200 or IT175/250.

The difference in 36 to 38 is down to intake velocity. 36 the intake is flowing faster, better atomisation and you feel this in response. 38 just flows more air, thus better top end and ability to supply more air at high rpm Go 36👍

2012 had different starter... this one is since 2017 and in 2022 upgraded by rieju with oil bath and better bendix
