Great review and great flying as always. Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year and so glad to see your still at it bring us all the good stuff. Definitely considering this jet as my first 6 S Jet . I have the 64 mm FMS Rafale and the 64mm Futura and getting ready to step up to 6 S EDF's.
@CAPTAINDRONE798
@CAPTAINDRONE798 6 ай бұрын
If you can fly a 64mm EDF with little effort you can then fly a 90mm EDF or less. I was only flying for a few months when I flew my first 90mm. Since 90mm are large in size, they capture plenty of air for lift and tend to fly like a kitten. 80mm are the sweet spot for speed and maneuverability. 70mm are almost identical to 64mm since the added weight of the battery, size, landing gear, brings them closer to a fast 64mm without gear. Enjoy!

I have it on most new planes since pretty much all new ESCs have it, and I place reverse thrust on the same switch. If it is in this one I probably didn’t have an extra channel on the receiver for it.

Try using some latex surgical gloves instead the gloves you were using. The latex gloves allow much better feel of the controls on the transmitter while still helping to keep your hands/fingers warmer. (I used the latex gloves during the cold days when I used to fly R/C helicopters)

Just a warning. I have one of these and fly off grass. It flies very well....but, if you slow it down too much on landing it tip stalls with no warning. The difference between a perfect landiing and a crash is very small. I have the replaced main wheels bill to prove it 😢. Andy in uk.
@CAPTAINDRONE798
@CAPTAINDRONE798 5 ай бұрын
I’ve had that happen to me with planes that are heavy on landing approach. This is one of the reasons you’ll see me rarely use flaps during landing as it reduces speed faster if no throttle is given. Landing into a nice breeze brings the likely hood of a tip stall down to zero. I do know if you land and bounce any EDF jet, it will bounce back up and the wing will tip and a crash will occur (only fix is to get on the throttle quick and go around again). So far on over 100 landings with all models of vipers (there are many), no tip stalls, but as noted, I have had it occur with other planes when speed is slow and the nose is not going into the wind or a runway bounce occurs.

@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Great response. If you will indulge me, I will give you my experience of edf jets. I have eight hand launch 4s 50mm jets from various manufactures with no flaps. They all glide in nicely with no power on landing and land very easily. I have four 64 mm 4s hand launch jets with no flaps which also glide in nicely. One 64mm 4s with flaps and undercarriage (arrows marlin) which lands with about 20 percent throttle on half flaps very well. Two 80mm 6s jets (freewing avantii and xfly sirius), both with flaps and retracts , which land easily on half flaps and low throttle. My problems comes with 70mm 6s jets with retracts and flaps. I have fms viper, fms yak 130, freewing vulcan and fms f18 v2 (not maidened f18 yet, waiting for calm day). I know it's my flying but same problem with them all. No flaps come in too hot and risk bounce with resulting nose up and tip stall, use flaps and get too low speed and tip stall. Thankfully they always patch up OK so far. I'm sure I will get it right eventually. Happy flying, andy in uk.

Nice review Steve. Looks like a nice plane at a reasonable price. My problem would be where would i fly it, and how much would i fly it. It would probably take 20 minutes to go somewhere where i could fly it, and flight time is 5 minutes. I'm interested in a insta360. Which one would you recommend? My mavic 3 pro just got hit by something, and nothing is showing in the main camera. Maybe i need a camera pointing backward or down. Thanks Steve.

I guess that the plethora (and daily changing options) of different FPV cameras plus the widespread availability of 3D printers makes it a bit of a non-starter. Print your own mounting options to suit whatever gear you happen to have.

You mount the camera on top in the canopy area and most people cut some of the canopy for airflow to run over your box due to heating . Otherwise you can cut ducts in the canopy as well . But a motionsic gimbal with a dji camera mounted on it will also add some weight to your plane so plan accordingly . Look up black star fpv
