I love that you made this size a free pattern; it really does make a perfect hostess gift! I’m heading to my sewing room now to make one as a thank you to friends who hosted me for a week recently. And, since I was there I already know her color preferences. Thank you, Kimberly!!❤

The quilt-size block would be a good way to show off large florals like Kaffe Fassett.

Classic and Vintage is my favorite series on KZbin. I love antique quilt blocks and the connection I feel to those who first conceived of and make these beautiful pieces. Thank you so much for your hard work in preserving and updating these wonderful patterns and giving them new life. I wonder if you would do Burgoyne Surrounded. I would absolutely love it if you would do various size blocks with it. As always FQS you are my favorite go to for all things quilting and lately cross stitch. Lots of 💗 from Minnesota.

I love this block. I might try a tabletopper first to get comfortable making the block, and then go from there onto the 60" quilt.

I think it’s amazing that you are going through the time and effort to preserve these old patterns. I remember when patterns were in the newspaper. These patterns would have been lost and forgotten if not for your efforts. Thank you for making beautiful patterns available to modern day quilters and for preserving a slice of history.

Great tips, as always. I especially take note of pinning BOTH edges when joining the solid triangle to the HST in order to keep that top edge lined up perfectly when the unit is opened up. I’m surprised Kimberly didn’t mention her propensity to starch her fabrics before cutting, especially since there are so many LONG bias edges. But I have watched her enough, that I definitely will be doing that for this block. I am loving this big block.

I just wanted to say Kim that it is because of you I started using pins in quilting this year. I always used clips because I did not want pin holes but decided to try glass head thin pins and I love them! Just bit the bullet and paid the money for them and I’m so glad I did. Much more accurate piecing even though more time consuming. I still have not jumped into the starch arena yet though. I guess I’m like Lori in that sense I do not starch. Thanks for all of the quilt training you do for the world. You are always so hilarious too. I just love that.

@sueboller718321 күн бұрын
This block is beautiful, but I can’t possibly buy all the rulers you used to trim pieces as you did. Do you have any tips to help square each step if you have a basic 6” x 24” ruler and one or two other stray rulers?
@HazelSmith-y4l21 күн бұрын
I totally agree. I love watching the tutorials but some of the supplies used are way out of my price range...the fabric alone is costly. Other cutting instructions would be beneficial.
@louiseforget40921 күн бұрын
You can use a 3 meter ruler or but two rulers edge to edge make sure you put weight on the rules so the don’t move
@cynthiafed21 күн бұрын
I use heavy plastic from JoAnn Fabrics and make templates that way.
@ceciliaschleicher27821 күн бұрын
I have a 6.5x24 ruler, a 16.5 square, 10.5 square, 14.5×6.5 and some smaller squares that are Creative Grids. I haven't bought any new rulers in a couple of years. You don't need any more. If you need to measure any larger, just butt some rulers together to get the measurement you need and it works just fine. What I did to convert to Creative Grids rulers was buy 1 or 2 rulers every couple of months instead of fabric.
@johnnieshirts210320 күн бұрын
I have used a pet cone to make a template.... costing zero. Also, you can use the ruler you have to mark the line corner to corner, as well as to trim to size. Marke your ruler with blue tape... you can trim adjacent side at the same time. If you can afford one extra ruler, I suggest a 12.5 inch square ruler. You can do all your trim to size with that one ruler. ❤
