Nice one, Nurk! That is an elegant solution to DVR audio. One thought would be to have the microphone only on one audio pin, then have prop noise from the VTX on the other and then mix it any way you like in post. JMTC.

NURK FPV Well since there are two pins for audio, I would assume it is stereo. Perhaps I’ll test it out when my HDO2 come back from repair. (Never trust a wall wart to put out the specified voltage)

Fatshark bay pinout shows L and R channels for audio. Would be great to have one for remote sound and the other for local MIC. :) Just thinking out loud.

Awww, I just checked one of the DVR files (from HDO) and it looks like the audio is only mono. :(

These module manufacturers should take note, it’s so simple to add at the manufacturing stage, you could even include a switch so you can choose which mic you would prefer to use? Or put the switch via the screens software..

Good news I got my crsf working on my hglrc sector 132 it was supposed to be setup as sbus not crsf on betaflight if that confuses you I dont know all I know is when I did that viola stick movement showed on betaflight

A fair few people are experiencing a fair amount of static audio noise, has anyone worked out what causes it or a fix? I'm inclined to think it might have to do with which hardware version of the RF module one has?

I think i found the solution. Did the same Mod from Video here, in Fatshark goggle DVR i also get a lot of static noise also with Audio Off. If i connect my Powerplay DVR and record with it, the sound is absolute clear and fine. Seams Nurk always is using his Powerplay DVR you can see in in the last clip on the Head... I use HDO 2 with rapidfire Fw 1.3.2

Hey Nurk, off topic from the goggle mod, but concerning the Freestyle 2- if you check out the rates they have the throttle completely messed with- 75% on profile 2 and expo on it as well. At least, that's how mine came (Profile 3 was entirely different and I copied it, but I had to lower TPA by quite a bit.). I took off expo and battery scaling. I think they do that to save the 2x 1S setup from sagging on that lame PH2 with that dinky stock wire? I immediately desoldered it and put 16awg lead on with an XT30. After that I went ahead and dropped the I terms by just a few as mine was wobbling in the wind just a super tiny amount. Also not to nitpick but it comes with the nano 2, which you're right is great. I have the racer nano, and it is great low light and makes for a good swap. I am eyeing the Cat 2 as an upgrade... I am currently having an alignment issue with racer though and can only see one prop in view (I love that you can see the props now). I think it maybe my aspect ratio setting, or I've mucked something up...? Time to investigate. On topic though, cool mod! Thanks for showing the mic, as I've been dying to put them on my quads but they were either cumbersome or I just couldn't bring myself to purchase. Maybe I'll snag one of these, we'll see! (I don't care how annoying prop sound is to some, it's like music to me, and it's beautiful. BZZZZZZZZZZZZ) Hope you and yours are well man, stay cool.

Is the only option on modules that don’t have audio off to cut the traces? Also would be cool to keep one channel as drone audio and one as the mic. That way later on use can use either and mix it to both channels.

Most vTX only transmit audio on one channel but many modules have only mono recording and mixdown the audio to a single channel.

it should overpower it due to the relative signal level. but your mileage may vary - it looks like you can set the level on the board but without a closer look i don't know. That said, you don't necessarily have to bridge both audio pins. ifyou know which one your vtx is sending the audio on, then just use the other pad

I'd check that all the props spin freely and that none of them are bent. It may be helpful to use the motor test tab in betaflight. Does it sound different or have you noticed anything else different after the crash?

You could probably figure something out using a couple of resistors to easily mix the two signals so you get prop noise and ambient sound. Or just have one on the right channel and one on the left. Cool stuff!

It's not a great idea, it's better to hear direct sound from the drone, you will be better pilot. If the sound is bad or static noise, than something wrong with that build.
