thanks for this video. i'm fairly new to coffee, been a tea drinker for most of my life. got lots of brewers--v60, french press, a moka pot. made some good cups of coffee, but had trouble getting it consistant. i've watched lots of videos on the clever dripper, but yours is the first one that explained brewing with different grind sizes and water temps--that's really helpful, i've never been able to tie all that together before.

Thank you for highlighting the versatility of this and the ability to experiment and (basically) not fret over the grind size or other details! Sometimes it's overwhelming with all the "right" recipes out there and it's a good reminder to experiment and enjoy the process. I just bought a clever dripper and I'm excited to use it!

Is the rinse at the start intended to preheat the brewer or to wash out the papery taste of the filter? I'm inclined towards the latter.

I’ve found since I upgraded my grinder to the Timemore X Lite (coming from the awful Hario Slim), I don’t have to do the water-first method. The X lite produces so few fines it never seems to clog with coffee-in first.

Excellent video! Just got a clever and this was super helpful. I like that you keep in some of the “mistakes” it makes everything much more relatable, real and approachable.

Looks good. As newly weds we used to have something like this that made excellent coffee esp with home ground beans - can't remember what happened to it. After babies we went to instant coffee. When the kids were older we used a electric drip system. Now that we are without children we use a french press.

You had me laughing on that 3rd recipe section. I'm sitting there watching you stack the Clever on the carafe like "Oh, he's going to show us the hidden internal release mechanism now... ". Good on ya for leaving in elements of what makes us all human. Nice touch and great video.

Gave recipe #3 a shot and it was super interesting. Was like drinking a totally different coffee. Strangely I found the coffee stronger even though I use the same amount of coffee in my usual clever dripper recipe

What grind setting would you use on the wilfa svart aroma (Black one) for the workshop method?

Seems like you would want a higher temp for the coarser grind in Recipe #3?

Hi, thanks for the guide! I was trying this clever dripper for about a week (mine is the smaller version) and kind of stuck with the same method/recipe, I was thinking that there is no room for experiment with this clever dripper since the method is basically just pour and wait and drip, until I watch your guide especially on 2nd and 3rd recipe with different grind size and different water temperature, it makes me want to try this dripper again and was surprised by the result, I personally prefer the finer grind size (not as fine as espresso though) then play with the water temperature and steep time until I find the balance between good clarity and nice body of the brewed coffee :-D

What is cool about it, is that there's no problem for whatever water boiler needed, right?

Any tips for me? I used to love it. But lately, no matter what coffee I use I always get like a cardboardy taste in the back. I always pre rinse my filter paper

Oh dang I just discovered it was in the brewer itself

How does one make 2 mugs (ceramic, not see-through) of coffee with a Clever dripper and minimal other stuff? All videos conveniently show one mug/cup only.
@HomeGroundsCoffee2 жыл бұрын
You could increase the amount of coffee and then dilute afterwards!

In my dripper I make 250ml just for me, but for two mugs 450ml: pour half into one mug then lift up and rest into the other: stalls the flow a little but not too much. That’s 15g of coffee and 27g….

My wife and I enjoy a 450ml mug of coffee every morning. We have two clever drippers.

Hey Steven, thanks for sharing all your oops moments in this video. Is good to let people know that you influencers also make mistakes. I enjoyed them because it happens to me all the time. There is one time when I had to change an inverted Aeropress recipe to a French Press because I didn’t close the cap correctly and all the water and coffee went down immediately when I flipped the AeroPress resulting in a complete whole mess! 😶🌫️🫣🫠. Which dripping coffee method will be your next? V60, Chemex, a new one when haven’t hear before? Jaja. Saying hi from Puerto Rico!

Hey Javier, thanks for the kind words! Yes plenty of mistakes go into making these videos, many more than I'm happy to show. A new video on the Bee House Dripper just came out, check it out!
