After playing this due to the NSO expansion pass, Sin and Punishment became one of my favorite games of all and with Star Successesor this series in general has become one of my favorite series.

What I love about this game, you can destroy everything in seconds if you're doing it right. If stuff seems hard or takes more then just a moment to kill you know you're missing something.

You guys totally missed out on the control options. The game is designed on pro controller where Both Analogs are aiming and you can use either the d-pad, or Y and X to move left and right. Shoulders and triggers control jump and shooting. When using the N64 controller. Analog is aim, D-pad or c-buttons are used to move left and right. (and likewise X and L/R are your shoot and jump) This game was very versatile on the N64 controller to allow people to either aim with their left or right thumb.

@@ssjduelistDD It plays fine on either. It's the only game on NSO N64 that had X and Y changed for C-buttons. So long as you are ok with left and right being at an angle.

1) Rail shooters don’t get the respect they deserve. Yes, this is a rail shooter. 2) Sin & Punishment 2 is even better. 3) Treasure games tend to have amazing gameplay, but semi-nonsensical stories. Just sit back and enjoy the experience.

I wish the point that, its a series of rail shooters, was made much, much earlier. And personally, I think rail shooters get precisely the right amount, or more than, of respect. They're fun, only if the following 4 conditions have been met: in an arcade, with a friend, with drinks, and with obnoxiously large lightguns.

@@newageBoundhippie Pit stole Saki's spot on the roster just like Sakurai stole Sin and Punishment's gameplay for Kid Icarus Uprising. He's done him dirty twice. Saki would have been a great fit in Smash 64 as some kind of promo fighter. Banjo, Goemon, and Bomberman would have been perfect fits as well during the N64 generation.

This game was epic on so many levels, and I actually imported it originally due to the word of mouth I heard at the time. This game 100% needs to be played with the original N64 controller, there is a learning curve no doubt, but once mastered, there is just no other way to play. This is a top 5 N64 for me, no question, and may even be top 3, it's that damn good.

One of my main reasons to get the expansion pack. I played the sequel on the wii and it's still amongst my most favorite games ever to this day. I finished the game last week. The controls definitely took some getting used to. I'm definitely going to replay this game sometimes... hopefully on difficulties higher than easy.

I couldn't agree more. Everyone should play this, (but maybe not on switch). This series is very dear to me, and I'm just happy to see so many people's first experiences with it. It's great! Edit: It's also hilarious to hear you guy's opinions and tactics against the bosses while also mispronouncing the characters names, lmaooo 😂

Treasure, along with Cave, was too good for the video game industry. While other companies chase trends and big market success, Treasure stuck to its core ethos of producing incredible, high quality action games. Its such a shame they couldn’t find that mainstream love as they deserved so much better.

I love the Sin and Punishment games. The second one was all right but the classic N64 one remains the absolute best. I wish it had gotten a remake like Star Fox 64 on the 3DS. The 3D effect would have looked awesome in this game.

The comment on the video is meant for people that already have the expansion pack. If you have you have it, don’t have an excuse not to try it. If you don’t have it, then the question wasn’t meant for you and was meant to the people that already have it.

This game is easier once you realize that melee attacks can destroy and reflect bombs and missiles. You can mash on it too. Also double jumping and dodging is good. I recommend switching to the auto lock on while shooting and moving. It helps.

Finally bought the expansion pack 2 days ago and this was the first game I tried out on the N64 app. As of this writing, I have not beaten the second level yet, but everything up to that point has been enough to keep me engrossed and determined to push through. Edit: finally beat it just now. And after reading others reviews, if the main criticism for your game is that it’s too short, that means you did everything else right if people want more of it. I think a remake of the game should slightly rewrite the story in order to accommodate more levels into it, as long as the ending remains intact. Now I wait to see if I find a copy of Star Successor first, or the game comes to Switch first. I already knew who Saki at least was thanks to Brawl and Smash 4, but now I fully get his origin.

I’m just glad that this game is understandable to a certain degree for English speaking players. Not having to step away to a translation of the dialogue or any other distraction from pure gameplay can deter some players. So when I booted this up as the first title on NSO N64, I was shocked to be greeted with English VA

The English VO was one of the reasons this game was easily brought over via Virtual Console in 2007. They made sure to translate all unvoiced text, however. Now what I’m curious about is why back then they decided to use English VO. I know the Japanese think of English as a cool language, but did they do that because they knew ahead of time that foreigners would try to import the game?

Oh it's definitely worth a try! The story is complete nonsense, but it's a non-stop thrill ride and fun throughout the entire run. It's short, but that honestly helps make it more digestible and replayable as well

@@nicholasdiaz1925 Just finished it! You’re right, the story is nonsense, but the gameplay is fun. It’s a really nice length; the game knows when to stop before it gets repetitive. Maybe I’m just bad at that kind of game, but I found the “easy” mode plenty difficult-I even had to use suspend points at times. It took me about two and a half hours to play the whole thing.

@@jetpackandbutlers5915 you're right, and I'm not against emulating games and all that, but I always prefer playing on official hardware and releases if I can help it. This is just one reason to get the expansion, and it's already on a console I use more frequently. Truth be told, I just don't feel comfortable playing on emulators most of the time. Not that there's really anything wrong with the emulators themselves (unofficial ones are usually better than anything Nintendo puts out), but I guess I just don't feel comfortable playing on a PC or a Phone. I don't what it is, but I just can't get behind it most times. Only if there really is no other way to play an old game I'm interested in.

What I do know with the story is, the kid in Sin and Punishment 2 is the child of Saki and Airan from this game. You play in a subway dream sequence stage protecting him.

This is The Game why my Wii Stands behind my TV! I buy it for a Dollar with some Others Games and The expirience was aseome. I bought a boxed Version later. Ist Stands in my Collection with: House of The Dead 2,3 and Overkill. You cant Beat The Game in a Hour. In Easy maybee.But you miss some Stages. On Switch the Game ist absolute Not good. It must be played with Wii Mote and Nunchuck. With Motion Plus its brillant.
