When I was a freshman in college in 1969, my parents send a large gift basket with all kinds of snacks, including spray cheese. Spray was new, so we were willing to try it with anything. As we approached the bottom of the basket, all that was left was a final can of spray cheese, a box of crackers and a jar of sweet jam. We spread the on the crackers and layered the spray cheese on. I haven’t been able to face spray cheese since. HappyHolidays!

@vrghr4 жыл бұрын
Couple of thoughts about the spray cheese: 1) Careful if you mix anything solid to add flavors - - the orifice on those canisters is pretty tiny and they clog easily. Then you have a pressurized container you can't depressurize or open. The Jalapeno juice would be a better idea to start with. 2) Since you're using emulsifiers, you don't have to stick with easy-melting cheeses. You can experiment with your favorite cheese flavors or combinations and they should still remain smooth and spray-able. Perhaps "not such a good cheddar" flavor will be surpassed by a different cheese or cheese blend! 3) Perhaps include a bit of wine in the blend next time for a "fondue" experience?

The reason we have a lot of bright orange cheddar cheese in Canada is that there used to be a law that forced local cheese makers to put orange dye in their cheddar cheese to clearly distinguish it from cheddar cheese from the UK which was much more expensive as it had to come over by ship.

What's quite interesting, as someone from the UK, we like to culturally rail the states on the idea of "spray cheese". Even though, we have a product here called primula, which is essentially soft cheese in a toothpaste tube. It looks awfully similar to what you have made aside from the colour, I suspect it's all about the whole "spray in a can" part that makes us have an issue with it, even though it's likely the same product.
