Could you talk more about ICWA and inquiry? I feel like the history of ICWA is deeply engrained with social work history and most people either don't talk about it or don't know about it.
@righteousroses Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I am not that familiar with ICWA. I know the basic knowledge of it but not enough to do a video on it. I think I only had one case where the status was applicable.

I have a Master’s in Human Services. Do they train for these positions? I have 0 experience with CPS. I am thinking about going to a job fair that is hiring for CPS workers. I did not want to waste their time if significant experience is required. I am a case manager right now but looking to switch jobs.
@righteousrosesАй бұрын
There is some training that is given but it’s a lot of on the job training. More than likely, they aren’t looking for you to have previous work experience.

Hi- this is my dream career path currently. Is this job solely draining due to the hard work or does it have payoff in its day to day? Are the hours typically 9 to 5?

Also thank you for your videos! My go-to social work KZbinr

There is payoff to the job but it’s not day to day. For me it’s when I move a case forward (I.e. a mom is granted overnight visitation with her children after working from supervised to unsupervised visits) or I was able to get one of my children into camp after working hard to set it up. I don’t know about every agency but the hours are flexible. If I worked 9 am to 8 pm on Monday then Friday I might be able to get off early if an emergency didn’t happen.
@sj94102 ай бұрын
Its draining due to the mental and emotional wear and tear. It's heavy stuff. Your clients are not happy with you. The system is set up to keep money coming in, not to help the family, or actually, the children. Parents have more rights than children. You will soon learn, your work doesn't make much of an actual difference. That is the cold hard truth.

Ma’am, I have a question. I’m currently have an open case. I am absolutely trying my best to cooperate the case worker at one point I feel I’m pleasing her. She would make an appointment and change it later, all the visits need to meet her schedule. It’s quite impossible to keep a job because as soon as she make the appointment, I have to have that day available for her. I constantly feel I’m being threatened by her, “ your child will be removed if you don’t comply. If you send screenshots instead of PDF, you are not complying”. Is that normal?

Quiet educative video. But wjat happens where the spouse refuses to sign the child welfare and divorce papers for two years now. Thank you
@righteousroses3 ай бұрын
Dependency court (child welfare) is different from family court (divorce). I’m not familiar with family court. Dependency involves an open case investigation of child abuse or neglect. Please let me know if I’m misunderstanding your question.
@nlewemcaroline78173 ай бұрын
Ok. I have an issue. For two year now he has refused to respond to Child welfare. They have been calling him but he has refused to oblige. I don't know what measures can be put in place to make him start paying his child welfare. It's the same thing refusing to sign the divorce papers.

There are circumstances where social workers working as counselors can be sued but that’s why people carry separate insurance for this if their agency doesn’t cover it. I’m not familiar with case managers being sued.
