Priced Reasonably? They lied many times over, lied and lied and then upped the price multiple times and now release DLC just as expensive as the game that has had 5-6 price increases. They are incredibly greedy devs that deserve none of our money.

@@Goremize I will note that I am ignorant about the lies you claim, would love you to elaborate. Otherwise, the base game has improved in quality over the years. Not a single time was the dollar per hour of fun ratio been bad. And this DLC essentially makes the game potentially twice as complex, plus in mind of many players, the price of 35$ even if paid twice (once for base, once for expansion pack [as I think this term is more fitting then DLC for Space Age from what we've seen]. Take Diablo II : The expansion added : almost 1/3rd of base game worth of content in Act V, 2 characters, some item mechanics like ehteral items, runewords and upscale resolution. Space Age adds new planets that add complexity to logistic and production of goods. The Expansion begins where base game ends. ultimately, it all depends on what those lies are, but from my point of view Factorio is worth 70$ price tag way more then anything ubisoft/ea produced in last decade.

With respect to randomness, if it's a normal distribution, then it's not really random over a long timeframe and you can expect output to look like the normal curve.

isnt that true for any distribution? even if its not normal, and all the values have an equal chance of appearing (i guess most random you can have things), you still will be able to predict the exact output

​@@kukuruzayevhenii8764 Normal distribution means that results will center around specific average, and as you move away from that average the result becomes less likely. For instance, in a graph with 10,000 data points in its range, a normal graph will most likely produce near 5,000 (ie 4987, 5130, etc). This means you can tailor your system to expect near the average. A random distribution would instead give you an equal chance of any point on the graph occurring. 1 would be just as likely as 5000 would be just likely as 10,000. You could run into a bad streak of low digit numbers easily, or a string of high digit numbers just as easily. It makes a system very difficult to design for as you're effectively creating true randomness.

@@jumbles1986 if you're rolling random numbers from a uniform distribution, the average/mean roll will lie on a normal distribution, i.e. if you rolling numbers between 0 and 1.0, and you get two samples like 0.25 and 0.75, your mean is 0.50, the more samples you have the smaller standard deviation you have, it's the averaging process that creates a normal distribution from the uniform distribution.

nice long recap about space age =o if almost any other game asked for retail value for a DLC i would say no but factorio is one of those few exceptions. the game has been so well made throughout it's lifetime, you can really see all the high quality planning and implementation that has gone into this DLC/update. $35 is well deserved. 3 months is still a long ways away but i can't wait to play the new update/dlc!

One thing I would like to see from the terrain generation is rivers that feed into oceans. They would be an interesting opportunity to funnel biters into traps and the new train bridges would allow you to cross them in the mid game while still having them be a obstacle in the early game

Watching this video made me to quit my megabase project due to realization how much pain (especially bot, fluids and blueprints changes) will go off after factorio 2.0 QoL and mechanic updates, I'm dying to try fresh save on factorio 2.0 now. Breaking all our mods and giving us a DLC that costs the same price as the actual game making the DLC and game combined cost 10 times the price of AAA games on sale is an interesting choice. Its now cheaper to not buy Factorio then it is to buy it. They are truly greedy devs.
