Di i know its off the topic , but i have heard a lot of bad things about manipal like too much drugs ,spoilt brats everywhere and a lot more things like that....my parents are quite concerned and me as well...is it really the truth? No one can or is going to force you into anything, I have many friends who do all sorts of stuff and I do nothing and they respect that... It totally depends on you and your company. Thanks a lot for your kind words! I'm not sure what offer letter you're talking about because the first round for BTech counselling ended only yesterday. If it's for some other programme, I unfortunately dont have any information about that. If the university is asking you to wait, then all you can do is that. Keep calling them at frequent intervals so that you don't miss out on vital procedures. All the best!

Yepp, it's generally a week before term starts to people start living from then. It doesn't make sense to go back and come again after 4 days because that'll be just plain expensive.

MITs mess food exceeds expectations when judged relative to most Indian college messes. Just make sure to take fc-2 as your mess in 1st year

Among block 11,12 and 7 which is the closest to fc2... could you rank? 11 and 7 are double non ac and 12 is double ac right? Socialising wise which of the above block would you recommend? Also why dont students cycle to class from the far blocks... why do they walk it?

None of the them are close, 7 is the closest among the ones you've mentioned but still it's very very far. For 7 I'd recommend Aditya or FC1 as a junior, Apoorva as a senior. I don't know about 11 and 12 but 7 is completely air conditioned now, it has double AC rooms. 11 and 12 have a lot of non-MIT students, a lot of MSAP, DOC students and 7 is almost only MIT people. A lot of people do have cycles. It's really convenient.

None of the girls hostels are close to FC2, all of them are really far. Still if you're wondering, either 7 or 21 would be the closest. For socialising, every block except 21 works because it has only single rooms. I've made a video on the clubs that you can join at Manipal. You can watch that for more information.

I'm glad they've helped you! There are laundry ladies who come to every block, who'll collect it. If you want, there are some other third party services off campus who will collect your laundry from the campus gate, they're slightly cheaper too. Or if you'd like to save money like me, you can do it yourself :))

Hi, I'm having a hard time deciding between electronics vsli at mit manipal or electrical and computer engineering at snu noida...i want to get into core electronics and not the software and also would like to persue ms abroad in a good uni..i've visited both the campuses and i kinda like mit slightly more...price is more or less same in both the colleges..and distance really is not of concern...If i would get ece in mit ,it would be a clear choice..but since im getting vlsi(its a part of ece,but ppl say it has a lot of scope despite being a new course) its slightly confusing...what do you reccomend as ur a senior at mit

I personally don't know a lot about the electronics field. But if it's anything like CS and the CS specialization branches, you're good to go, there's not much of a difference.

I would say mit is anyday better than snu , but as far as ece with vlsi is concerned, it's a new branch and there is no placement stat available for this branch. But as you are saying you are not interested in placements and will go for ms directly, i would say go for mit because obviously the opportunities and quality of education would be better

I can't really say how the exact curriculum is going to be because it's a new branch but nothing is going to be difficult to pass in. Getting good grades? Sure. But nothing you can't pass in.

Hi..at my rank I will most likely get EEE at Manipal or IT at Bangalore. Which should I choose?I'm equally interested in both branches. Placements are semi-important for me as I want to pursue an MBA abroad after working for a few years. I'm slightly skeptical about the Bangalore campus as it's so new, but at the end of the day CS is CS.. Also wanted to ask, what is the scene of the intra-college round? If I take up EEE is there a chance it can be shifted to ECE in the round slide? Do you know anybody who has gotten something similar and/or how many people manage to change their branch? If you're interested and placements are secondary, then EEE could be a good choice. But be careful before making your final decision because it's a tougher branch, think about all the consequences before you end up at your choice. You can apply for an upgrade till the last round of counselling, which is the intra-institute sliding round. Over there, you can only get your branch changed in the same college. All that depends on the cutoffs.

What do you want to know about it? It's a new branch so I can't tell you anything about placement data or any other statistics As for appearing for SDE roles, it depends on the company. Most companies do let branches till EEE take the test.

Since it's a new branch, I cannot say for sure. I'm guessing yes, because all students from all the branches are always eligible but you'll have to ask the admissions council for confirmation.

FinTech is a completely new branch, this is just the second year of intake so there are no placement statistics for that yet. I would definitely recommend keeping the older branches above the newer ones, meaning prefer CSE, IT, CCE over the new ones.

I personally chose the AC rooms but you can survive without the AC too if you're looking to save money. Lots of sport events are held. Among facilities, there's everything on campus. There's also Marena, which is the sport complex a quick walk from the campus.

Hello! It would be really helpful if you could give your insight. So, I got 8XX rank in MET and will get cse core in Manipal campus hopefully. I am personally interested in both ECE and CS. I am getting IGDTUW ECE and IT as well. I am majorly concerned about the academics and college infra etc is not a priority for me. Which id better with respect to academic inclinations? Are there a lot of hackathons, tournaments, research etc conducted in MIT? Also, how's the crowd in general? Thanks in advance!

Academics at Manipal is pretty structured, if you're actually studying properly you will excel. Research is really great too, you can approach any professors of any department and publish research papers. There are hackathons conducted too, every tech fest plus in later years where companies come for hiring. The crowd is decent too, make sure you associate yourself with people who have similar ambitions and you'll be fine.

I don't really know anything about Thapar. But if you're sole point of comparison is going to be IT vs CSE then here's something to keep in mind. IT and CSE in Manipal are pretty much the same, there's very little difference both in terms of coursework and placements. I'll of course have a bias and say that Manipal is better but you should look into all the factors and speak to people from both colleges.

Namaste Didi 🙏. I have a few questions and would be grateful if you could answer them whenever you can. Q1. How much have the annual tuition fees changed because of inflation? What were they when you were in your first year, and what do you have to pay this year? This year, it's 5 lakhs for me, and I want to be sure that it won't increase too much. Q2. Is the library open 24×7, or does it have some restrictions? Q3. What are the necessary monthly expenses? What should our budget be?

They won't change in your year anymore. It's fixed for 4 years. In first year, mine was 3.5 but that could be due to covid. For later years, it's 4.85 per academic year. The library is open until 10:30pm. It opens up around 8 in the morning I think. The budget part is dependent on your spending habits. I'd say 2-3k is bare minimum. 5k is comfortable. 10 is extravagant. But this is assuming you eat at the mess. Otherwise your spendings will be higher.

Yes, branch changes are possible. You just have to cross the CGPA criteria for it, it's different for every branch. I've mentioned it in one of the MIT videos. You'll have to get 9+ for CS based branches.

In what entrance test? MET doesn't make you eligible for any KMC courses as far as I know.

There aren't any official holidays between the semester. But if there are a lot of consecutive holidays and you have enough attendance, a lot of people go home then.

Spot round happens after the intra institute round. It's the last case option but extremely risky. If you apply in the spot year, you lose out on your current seat if you don't get a branch of your choice. I can't really say. Might even be in the month of September. All the rounds happen online. It's recommended to attend the orientation because they'll tell you a lot about what to expect for 4 years of your college life. If you absolutely cannot attend, it's fine but try to. Spot round admits constitute a different class of their own, which is later brought upto speed with the rest of the batch. Yes, they do get hostels. All first years get hostels. Might not be the best one since you're applying really late, but you'll get something.

Thanks a lot! If you're okay with studying electronics, I'd say yes to Manipal. But if you're not okay with the idea of not studying CS, then not coming here might be the only option :( Changing your branch after first year is really difficult. I'd recommend not relying on that option. If you're enrolling in a course, make your peace with it. Consider upgrade a secondary thing. If you get it, it's fine. If you don't, doesn't matter because you were going to study your original branch anyway.

If you're willing to work hard for the entirety of your first year, go for it. But also, accept the fact that you're going to study CPS or EEE internally. If you're not okay with that at all, then I'd say it's a bit of a risk. Thanks a lot for your appreciation:))

This year cutoff has gone very low and infact there is no difference between 1 and 2 round of counseling like i was easily getting ECI according to previous year cutoff but this time now its almost impossible to get it ......i am getting automobile so should i take it like will it get upgraded in intra institute round or in intra institute round it will be the same as normal round like very low cutoff and no difference.....like how likely it is to get upgraded whats the risk percentage...... and could you please tell automobile avg package 2. In aicte scholarship it is given that if you get your branch upgrade in 2nd year then the scholarship will be stopped....so after upgradation are we eligible for other scholarships like those scholarships which they give if you score 8+ cgpa or some other kind of scholarships

I'd say keep waiting, don't let go of your seat just yet because JEE counselling and all the other state CETs rounds are still going on. They may change or they may not, but if you've already reserved a seat you're in a better position. Even if there's no chances of upgrades, you can withdraw later till late October without losing any amount on the tuition fees. Yes, you're eligible for other scholarships based on your CGPA. But letting go of the AICTE scholarship is a huge decision because it's a tremendous amount, no other scholarship offers as much of financial aid as this one. The other ones are harder to get too, you'll need close to a 9.5 to be eligible.

Hi! EIE is alright if you're interested and working hard, average package is around 8-9 iirc, the highest is close to 15-16. The branch upgrade is available for all branches. There is a common cutoff that you need to clear CGPA wise, there's no individual branchwise cutoff. Companies set the criteria for what branches they're willing to accept. Most of the SDE positions put a limit till EEE, which means EIE doesn't get to sit for those tests. It happens for about half of the companies taking software roles. The monthly expenses can be anywhere from 3k to 10k, it depends on how much you're spending. Essentials are around 1k, then excess is whatever you spend on food and outings. I'm glad you like them :)

There's no dress code as such. The only rule is that you cannot wear shorts in the academic area, which means that in all the academic blocks and the library you'll have to wear full pants only. Preferably wear jeans in those areas or track pants that are decent.

If it were me, I'd take IT because a more established branch is always better. FinTech doesn't have any stats right now, it could be promising sure but why not go for something that is already proven. Plus you'll get tons of IT seniors to help you out in every field versus if you were to look for mentors in your own branch. As for placements in IT and CSE, it's the same. There's practically no difference.

I won't recommend taking MUJ anyway, plus finances are clearly a burden for you. If I were you, I'd look into other options. If you're able to get ECE at a much cheaper cost in your local college(around 4-5 lakhs total for 4 years), take it. Study programming on the side and network as much as possible. You'll have to work really hard for that. But this is just a recommendation.
