I work as a Writer and Content Strategist.Four years ago, I was jobless, holding an Engineering degree that seemed useless. I come from a village in Karnataka, far from any Tier 1 or Tier 2 city, and struggled to form a sentence in English. Desperate for any job, I was trying everything. Then COVID hit. That pause was a game-changer, helping me realize what I truly wanted to do. I wanted a job in the creative field because I love consuming media and writing. During COVID, I spent my time watching movies and writing reviews. I built a blog on WordPress and started posting my reviews, all from my phone, as I didn’t have a laptop.I applied for writer roles everywhere. Someone saw my blog posts and liked my assignment. That was enough for them to hire me, and I landed my first job in the field I genuinely wanted to work in. Every day since has been fun and fulfilling. After landing my first job, I set two goals for myself: improve my English and master writing. I have come a long way since then and continue to enjoy the journey.

I have a different opinion about what you discussed in this video. First of all, I mean no disrespect to the efforts you’ve put into helping young people learn in-demand skills. However, I believe the real problem lies not only in the Indian education system but also with those in teaching positions, including some edtech platforms. These platforms often focus on how to make money in the name of "upgrading yourself" or acquiring skills to quickly solve financial problems or fulfill immediate needs. This mindset, in my opinion, kills the hunger for innovation. While I understand that many people face financial burdens, those challenges should not prevent someone from doing innovative work. If earning money were the only factor, why would there even be a need for so many fields? If that were the case, everyone could just pursue IT or any in-demand skill, get a job, and move on. But here’s the issue: jobs don’t grow on trees. Someone has to create them. If you look at the people who create jobs, they always seek creative and innovative individuals. Unfortunately, these qualities are often missing. While skilled workers might be available, that doesn’t necessarily make them innovative. This is one of the reasons why India is often seen as a service-based country or a provider of cheap labor for Western nations. From childhood, people are conditioned to think that the ultimate goal is to work for someone else, rather than to build opportunities for others. This is what upsets me. Learning in-demand skills is important, but it’s not the only problem we should address. People also need to understand that every type of work can lead to earning money. However, if earning money becomes the only goal, it often leads to unsatisfactory jobs and unfulfilled lives. My simple opinion is this: Edtech platforms in India are like a new-generation version of the Indian education system. They teach students in-demand skills to get work done, but many of the students who join these platforms are graduates who are unemployed and desperate for a job. Instead of properly educating them and encouraging deep learning, these platforms focus on marketing big tech company salary packages. This only traps students in the same rat race that the Indian education system has been promoting for ages.

People love to share. More than love, I think the way world is right now, people are dying to talk out there. Need someone to listen to them while they just talk about anything. IIT Passout in 2023 here. Finally landed job as a graphic designer beczo i wanted to make a career in arts and stuff and getting career started from graphic designing was the most accesible option. I made a lot of mistake applying for jobs in start and that always happens to everyone its a trial and error learning thing. But even when I got most things ie CV, linkedin profile right, it took me in total 1300+ applications over like 6-7 months of continuous applying and only experience being a design intern (which also took several hundred applications to land). In short, applying to job like theres no tomorrow helped me to finally land this one job. pay still isnt great but it is something. So thing for me which helped most in landing job was relentless applying to whatever form i see fit. Just by the sheer law of probability and statistics whatever i did land a job. Applying on jobs without prior experience is absolute nightmare. I really advice anyone who is reading this to take up multiple intern experiences as well that will help you A LOT in job landing. And Good Luck as well.

A big issue is that a lot of science students don't even know that they have other options other than Engineering or Medicine . So many students are trapped in the cycle of JEE and NEET. I am pursuing BASLP( Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology) . When I mention this , the vast majority of people say they've never heard of it before. We need more awareness about different professions.

One of the challenges we face in pursuing this approach is explaining these factors to parents. Many older citizens (Gen X) tend to believe anything they hear from their neighborhood or anyone they’re in touch with. Convincing them as a child can be tough, they often perceive us as immature.

I'm a graphic designer / video creator with about 3 years of experience. Everything in this video is spot on for my field! I'd like to add two things that helped me the most... First, leverage personal connections. If you have friends or family who run a small business, offer to work for them for free. They won't say no to that. You'll get something to put in your portfolio and a recommendation. Maybe they'll pay you a little if they have the finances, they'll pay you very well if you add actual value (unlikely for a beginner though). Remember, these people actually care about you... A small business would mean something like a beauty parlour, McDonald's franchise, even a tea stall! I'm guessing a lot of people know someone who runs a business like that. If you don't... Volunteer for a reputed non profit. If you're in college, get involved in organising fests. I feel these projects add more to a portfolio instead of just personal projects.

There's one more crucial aspect of education: research. If we solely focus on job placement, we neglect research and development (R&D). Let's consider this video: everyone might get a job initially, but eventually, demand and supply will stabilize, leading to a surplus of skilled workers and fewer jobs. Therefore, an education system that prioritizes R&D would be more beneficial. Secondly, while established career paths like video editor and software developer are valuable, our focus shouldn't be limited to them. People should be encouraged to build, not just software, but also hardware. Exploring platforms like Arduino and creating medical equipment with it any other things can foster these skills. Because of AI, In future we definitely need people who are skilled in hardware rather then software of any other creative field.
@rhyperionmaths7076

The minus point of this kind of education system is that everyone is not made to do R&D. An Education system like this will be a hell for students who don't want to a part of it. R&D should encourage a lot I agree but it should not be forced on students through the system. We already had some chapters in class 10th maths which no use for most of the population but very useful for those who persue engineering or scientific field. There is improvement in the system but the ones doing all the work should be praised not the higher ups. So whenever you see a great achievement, I want you to do some research and find the person behind this, and not give credit to company as a whole..

A few days back I gave a Govt entrance exam, and they asked me to put my bag away. As usual, I complied and then asked them where I could put my bag? They replied by saying "Kahi bhi rakho, bas yahan nahi". Sounds normal right? But what they actually meant was you are not allowed to put your bag anywhere in the college. You'll have to put it somewhere outside. I went there alone, I didn't know anyone there. And I was supposed to put my bag, purse, and phone in some random location. And it wasn't just for me all of the students had to face the same problem. After searching for a suitable place I found a shop where I kept my belongings. Some students put their bags with all their belongings under trees next to some closed coffee shops. I find it amusing how they can hold an examination in a college but can't even arrange for a safe place where we could put our belongings. I felt really humiliated that day. There even were some allegations that there are seats that are being sold also for the same entrance exam.

Stumbling across a video of your channel happens to be few of the good things the KZbin algorithm has done for me. The topics and content quality is what forcing me to comment on your video. Here's my story: I come with an experience of 8 years working in IT sector, started from middle class and the only motivation I had was to get rid of financial problems my family had (didn't think of myself ever). Once the problems were over and my family was stable that was when I started getting into depression because the motivation was over, there was nothing to look for in my life, same old job and that was the point I realized that what I was doing was not even in my "Like" list forget about Passion. After struggling with my job for a few more years, I resigned to introspect myself and that is when I realized Data Analytics and Video editing were my favourites alongside writing, tried all of them and yet to receive any outcome (not receiving an outcome is not a bad thing) but now I know which path I wanna take. Thankfully, I saw another video of AevyTV where they discussed about Aeos and what they've been teaching to new students. In the end, there's one thing I want everyone who's starting in their career to know, "It doesn't come easy". I had to attend 11 interviews (all walk ins, traveling in buses, literally walking Kilometres) before getting my first job. There's only thing that will help you out "Never give up", understand/know yourself, what you want, what you're good at and all this will take time.

This video hit me hard because I’ve been through something similar. I skipped college after my 10th boards and jumped straight into the job world. Taught myself graphic design and editing on KZbin back in 2014 (when tutorials didn’t have flashy intros 😅). Fast forward, today I lead the social media team of an NGO and freelance as a motion graphics designer and video editor. What you said about skills > degrees is 100% true! The first job I landed was purely because of the work I’d put out there, not some fancy degree. If there’s one thing I’d tell every confused 17-24-year-old watching this, it’s this: Build a solid portfolio. Don’t just learn-show it. Thanks for making this video. It’s the real talk students need. 🔥

Great journey sir. I just have a few doubts. For a person who does not have a degree and who did not follow the conventional method , 1. How much security does your job provide ? 2. Is the pay enough to meet the wants (not needs) ? 3. What is the growth in your particular field like will a person without a degree can end up as a millionaire when retiring ?

1. people are not made who are studying in iits after cracking jee adv, i will not talk about skill for now. 2. If a company is new then hiring iitians help to improve their name in market or getting funding. 3. people on top position are generally iitians so offcoruce they will prefer their college more, and iitans can get connection to land a job very easily like their senior's referal etc. You can't do that very easily as you are not iitan. 4. Comapny can use the connection or networks of these iitians in future if they needed. 5. And, IITs have option for internship in college. 6. And see if company is in critical condition or deadline, these iitians have mindset and harworking nature that helps the companies not to fuck up where they could have. 7. IITians are generally very good followers, they have followed their teacher during preparation time very hard and if you have opened your company then you just need some people who have experience in that sector and people who will follow that experienced man. 8. IItians are generally very versatile in nature as compared to any other college students, kisi bhi project me daal do. 9. Generally freshers don't have much to show in their portfolio, so if they use something like i'm from iit or iim etc helps you a lot 10. Its easier to manager them as do their work without much warnings, I think so. I have seen some meme or post in social media like hr wrting some warning to its employee that don;t use office internet to scroll instagram or to do time pass in office, i can deferentially say that employee might not iitian I have not talked about skills any where for now. Some company will easily hire this person despite he doesn't have any specific skill

Very nice video What I did was I put in tech skills on my CV and learned about them from KZbin and other free online materials and I understood what companies are looking for. There are a lot of companies which still says you must be a graduate but I know a lady who studied arts but got a job worth 12LPA at concentrix for SCCM admin and she learned everything about the software from microsoft sites and youtube. So please focus on the skill that companies require because they dont care how educated are you they just care on how much money you are making them or saving them. Yeah you can get a job which pays more than what they are offering to IIT graduates and only you just need to know about tools and processes they use in their company. I started from Tech support and became a admin and then got recognized as a cloud engineer and now I earn 15LPA. So build your network from LinkedIn and other platforms and you would definately get a good job. But if you want to be super rich and powerful you need a business or you need to go into politics or you can also try becoming a gangster and then you will become a millionaire in no time.

@@euphoria-1045 1> today even if student is admitted to a college/school, they do have tuitions outside. They are spending x2 times time learning the same thing. Homeschooling will reduce that. 2> it will create competitive environment for college and teachers to get better. If college school teaches well then only they will get money. 3> if degree from homeschooling gets equivalent recognition from society then yes I would homeschool my child. 4> you will save lot of money that goes into these big institutions pocket in the name of so called learning. 5> student can use online study materials which are available for free. Cons- As competition increase, good teachers will hike up their rates. Which can cause problem for financially poor students.

The role of teacher is to guide and motivate others but most teacher in our country is themselves not motivated they became teacher because simply they didn't know what to do next and continually stacking a bundle of degrees, from graduation to masters to PhD to Mphil or in some case teacher training BEd ,MEd but they didn't did it because they wanted to be teacher/professor they just are directionless.

I'm in the same boat, bro. Doing Masters in Literature right now. At first the idea of becoming a professor was good since it's the safest with this degree. But when I stopped to think about how every single day of my life will go, for years, instead of the ease of work, I had to give that up. I'll be looking for other options too. Best of luck :)

What all founders get it wrong is believing that right talent somehow exists and all they have to do is pick the best apples. Right talent doesn't grow on trees. No amount of education helps to grow talent. Talent and skills can only be built by companies because each company has its specific needs. Internships help both students and companies to bridge the gap. Students win experience and build skill sets and companies spend minimal amount and train the next generation. This should be comprehensive and not a simple 3 month routine. It should be longer than a year and if possible spread out through out the degree program. Also students need to stop waiting for campus placements and start searching for companies and applying for jobs on their own. Most students don't even know how to prepare a proper CV and write a cover letter. So students have to search and self motivate to find the right company.

The thing is, engineering from a IIT or NIT etc is a security. My elder brother who is a passout from IIT Roorkee stresses on the fact that if you are confused and have no clue the best thing to do right now is engineering(from a decent college) most of the students don't even end up grabbing a engineering role in a company but a good college is where you'd have like minded people and the resources for extracurriculars clubs allowing you to explore other fields while getting immense security. If you think you can, get into a tier-1/good college then do whatever miss achina siggested us to, if you can't then start it right away.

But think about it, 14L students write JEE every year, and a large part of them get into terrible engineering colleges. The best option for them right now is to pick up a skill that’ll get them a job regardless of them getting the degree or not. This skill will help them land a job where they can finally meet some like minded people and hence build a network..

Animation advice: Okay so anyone who wants ro learn animation i.e 3d character animation, 2d animation and anime too; you can do that. But keep in mind that everything you want is available online but just enough to cross you the beginner mark. You can take courses but most are capped at moderate level. No one teaches advanced stuff. Which is okay because it needs your practice to make you advanced. Who am I to tell you anything? Well I'm a guy who's in this for over 2 years now. And still don't have a job. Partially because the job industry for animation is not that good in India right now, but mainly because I'm not skilled enough. Yeah. I spent most of my time in learning how to make anime in blender and mix 3d with 2d. I even wrote a whole movie script. But these are the things that can make learning one skill extremely difficult and time consuming. So yeah i know a lot of things but not enough in one thing to get a job. So finally don't get into this being only passionate, look for the whole picture first. Then if you get into this focus on only learning the skills. Don't try to make a whole movie from the start it waste a whole lot of time. Then after learning blender jump into autodesk maya too. Because studios demand this.

I worked at a Silicon Valley startup co-owned by Elon at 21, and only studied graphic design in college. My advice to other young kids is to find a genre/niche that you're passionate about. This is a real world problem/subject. It could be energy, politics, education anything. Then, I recommend building a portfolio that uses your hard skill (design, editing, development, writing) and making projects/content that address issues in your chosen area of interest. The scarcity in the market is SPECIFICITY. There are lakhs of video editors, but the video editor passionate about finance education is much more likely to be hired by a fintech company. The developer interested in mental health is much more likely to be hired by a wellness platform, than the average developer with a standard portfolio. The supply/demand curve is very real. And playing to your interests and using your hard skills to develop around those interests, gets you a much better chance of finding those companies that YOU like and will have both satisfaction AND income from. Hope this helps someone!

You say the talents aren't skilled enough but who is responsible for that. Every firm use different software, different techniques and expecting us to know all of it is insane. And we are not even taught what's necessary of our job and live ahead anyways, I am a btech grad and what I have heard all through my 4yr degree is how btech is a steppingstone towards a lot of other careers, then my biggest question is what about engineering? You are too proud of how it'll help people get to a different field you stopped realizing how btech is a course of engineering. This is especially the case with btech, but there are a lot more courses like this. The education system is BS, it's ancient, it's flawed and more importantly it's freaking corrupt. No one wanna change it and no one wanna make an effort of the next generation.

I work as a Financial Analyst for a boutique advisory firm, and landing an internship much less a job was a struggle for me. Colleges with less recognition and being from tier 3 cities can greatly reduce visibility. But still, I landed my first internship in 2nd year and continued on to doing part-time internships aside from regular college till the end of 3rd year. Cumulative internship experience of close to 2 years in a 3-year degree course. The thing I learnt is that you don't have to start your career with a career-breaking salary you can start really small and make your way upwards. The major thing to understand is what is valuable and how much. One gap I see in my generation is the lack of ability to visualize how does a company really makes revenue and how their job role helps their company to generate more revenue. The quicker you understand this the more clearer the picture will be. Then Its like a numbers game the higher it is the more valuable you are. Edit: I really like what @aevytv has been doing been, I have following them since they had close to 2 lacs subscribers. The clarity being provided on how to navigate the ever-changing job environment of India was something really remarkable. I look at aevy TV team and Sir Varun Mayya as being the front runners of making content that creates value. Hope they cross 1 mn+ subscribers soon.
