Well produced and extremely informative. As a novice, I was becoming increasingly frustrated by all of the contradictory information out there. Jeff explained the pros and cons of each method, and I feel like I now have a good base of knowledge to use towards preparing my humidor(s). Jeff seems like a cool guy to hang out and have a stogie with.

I just payed $75 for mine. I'll take the right way which is option two. I REALLY appreciate this video. My humidor is in the mail and I seen a ton of videos ALL doing the water sponge shellacking. Mine holds 30 stogies and the cheasest one is roughly $8 that I smoke. The most I'd absolutely spend on one stogie is $40. So times the average by 25 and that's my stogie collection. That's plateau. I bookmarked bestcigarprices.com in support of this video. Sadly some of the cigars I would like right now or sold out but I will definitely Circle back. Awesome video thank you sir!👍🏽

Thank you very much I have learned a lot with your pro tips, I am very new in the cigar world thanks to my uncle hehe, but I have a question I just bought as a bargain a full cedar wood (no liners cedar) that is a 500 cigars capacity, the person that previously owned never used, I think is from 1990 it is in pristine condition, how do I set it up for that many cigars i know you were talking about a small humidor and to be hones I do not want to do anything stupid to ruing it. I love your videos and again thank you very much for you time and patience

Hi Roberto, regardless of the age or style of your humidor you should be able to follow Jeff's tips in the video. Be sure to season thoroughly as described, and if you're using the boveda pack method you may want to start with the highest humidity level and then monitor conditions and adjust accordingly. Thanks for watching!

For now. The super fast way to season my humidor is with a spray bottle with distilled H2o. 1 spritz around the sides, lid, + bottom. Take a new sponge to wipe the humidor out fast. Wringing out the sponge each tome you wipe. I've also taken a sandwich bag size ziploc . Take a new wet sponge with distilled water on it. Put in a clean bowl in the microwave 30 - 60sec.. Set inside the humidor on the plastic bag. Leave in for I forget how long. Maybe just long enough for the sponge to cool off? Or 2 day's?

Would someone explain to me why he suggests the Swami jars when the packets would do? Is it just another option or do I need both?
@bestcigarprices
@bestcigarprices 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mandalore, there's no need to use both Swami jars and packets at the same time, they are just two different options for humidification. I suggest you try out a couple different methods to see which works for you best. Thanks!

Do not throw away bovedas!!! You can recharge them hundrets of times. Simply put them in a big enougth Lock&Lock with a Little bowl of demineralized water. Or at best with a little spacer to the bottom so you can pour the water into the L&L and use the whole surface of the bottom full of water. The Bovedas just must not touch the water. Leave this setup for a week or two and you will get them as good as new. You can even measure the perfect amount of water you need by weighing them and determing how much water you need to get them back to their 60g or what size you have. Be aware that they are ment to work in two ways. So do not "overfill" them or they won't be able to pick up humidity if it is too high.

I just bought 1 84% season pack from my local cigar shop and he told me that all I would need is 1 in a 50 cigar capacity humidor, (same one in video) and also told me all I have to do is open it, pop it in (empty humidor of course) and leave it for 3 days or until pack has become hard. Is he wrong then, should I really have gotten 2? Since I only bought 1 is it going to season my humidor probably? This guy has been in business since the 70's or so and is well established. I really need help on this matter, I don't want to ruin my Cigars.
@bestcigarprices
@bestcigarprices 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Dustin, the Boveda website recommends that you use "one packet for every 25 cigars your humidor can hold." We typically go by what the manufacturer suggests, you can check out the full instructions for seasoning with the packets here: bovedainc.com/store/tobacco/seasoning/. Thank you for watching and please let us know if you have any more questions!

The reason you want a wood humidor is that IT BREATHES! this guy is either telling everyday knowledge like its a secret, or he he presents misinformation, saying a wood humidor is a show piece and Tupperware is just as good. PLASTIC doesn't breath, you can use it for roughly 2-3 weeks if you are waiting on your humidor to cure. Best thing you can do is not listen to this guy, he has probably roughly new to the game.

Hi imerupp, this video was intended to be a "primer" of sorts for those who are new to cigars or unfamiliar with the practice of maintaining a humidor. Jeff Brown is one of the most experienced cigar professionals in the business, and is one of the very few Certified Master Tobacconists in the world. In the section of the video you are referencing he was relaying the fact that a tightly sealed tupperware with humidity pack will provide a suitable environment for humidification without the elegance of a proper humidor. To create the "breathing" that you're referring to, you can alternately place some pieces of Spanish Cedar inside a properly sealed tupperware container. Thanks for watching!
