Very interesting.. I’m a romanien and I can relate to what he says.. The best part in Romania is that, for us romaniens, there is an entrance examn and if you do well you can study for free the whole uni.. that’s good for those who can’t afford it but they are really smart.

hey!! In Romania there are very few who pay tuition fees. The state gives us a number of scholarships, and based on your grade at the exam you have a scholarship. Then, in the six years if you have bad grade, you don't pass a course (you pay for them if you don't pass it on the thrid try you are automatically cut off from the scholarship). And generally, we have campuses that provide housing for students with a scholarship. So your only expenses will be food and personal things. Also, in our thirth year we can go to the hospital for rounds and they get paid. We do have cadavers, we can go and do rounds at the hospital. Generally it's quite fine with the expenses and teaching quality. I don't know if it's like that in every eastern EU country but people who pay tuition fees are very rare. I do think that tuition fees were paid by students who got under ten at the entry exam. Also, we have a lot of medical congressions that help us with public speaking, especially if you choose Bucharest or Cluj. Hope I explained everything clearly, so definitely consider romania if you want to study abroad, I promise you that it's fine and everybody will want to talk to you to improve their English. :)

Also, the first 30 or so students are always students who enter based on participating in national contests in physics biology and chemistry . So they enter without having to take the entry exam. I don't know if it's the same in the UK. Just thought I would mention that.

Hey! That's for national students studying on the Romanian language course. If you want to study in English or French in Romania at universities like in Cluj or Iasi then you have to pay tuition fees as a self-funded candidate :)

Am in tbilisi Georgia ,From London, didnt do entry exam and pay $7k first year and 5k for the rest of the course. Cheapest country I've ever lived. 500$ living expenses. Including private accommodation bills foood everything. MEDICINE is MEDICINE if u dont put your 100% you will fail regardless of country or university period.

he didnt address the UKFPO and the "match"process how not all applicants get slots and therefore can't do the FY2. Also how u need to know fluent Bulgarian to explain things to the patient etc. How will you learn how to take history if you cant communicate effectively in the language. He should have spoken about he's own grasp of the language too.

As time was short I couldnt go into much detail but I am aware not everybody gets a place for the FY2 posts first time round. Currently this is the main route which is why I mentioned it however I also mentioned that we are working with organisations to bring about more opportunities for graduates from Eastern Europe and a very good example of that is the Gateway for Doctors programme being set up by Doctors Direct, here is a link for you to learn more: www.nhsprofessionals.nhs.uk/Campaigns/Start-your-NHS-Career-with-Doctors-Direct/News---List/News---Details?Id=Gateway-for-Doctors-Update In terms of fluency in Bulgarian. As mentioned, you must learn bulgarian for your first two years and this is to help you communicate with patients in the clinical years. As a student in 5th yr, our professors always stress the importance of practicing our Bulgarian and to speak to patients ourselves. Its not easy but it sure is rewarding :)

In Slovakia there are no tuition fees when you study on state universities, great example is Comenius University, with Medical Faculties in Bratislava&Martin, where there are plenty of students from Iceland+Scandinavian countries, which says something about the quality of school

Same here. I study in Moldova and it’s exactly like that the school just treats us like trash and just cares for money and they don’t teach us anything and when we don’t know the material they get upset that they have to teach us even though that’s their job. The issue presents itself once you graduate... When applying for further training positions people can see that you weren't deserving of a medicine place and so you're rejected left right and centre. Don't do it in Europe.

If you are a competent dr with a GMC licence and do your job properly, why would you be rejected? IMGs are a major part of the NHS and many have trained even outside of Europe.
