The stock market was in a bubble. It has to come down. It has to come down. We printed $6T, that money HAS to be pulled from the market to stop inflation. Maybe not all of it but I would say more than half. You do this by increasing interest rates and quantitative tightening. Inflation is the single worst thing for the economy. It is worse that a stock market crash, it is worse than a recession, it is worse than a housing market crash. It is an economy killer. It has to be stopped before we sort out the rest. Powell's problem is he is late to the party and is still moving too slowly.

Wait till it falls to at least 1650. Could fall as low as 1300-1400 and stay there for 6-12 months. 1830 was a critical price (support and resistance) and it was broken today. It could be the start of a bigger uptrend (usually it goes down 1-1.5% from the "launchpad" before taking off). But if it doesn't start a strong uptrend next 2-3 weeks - today's gold small crash could be a bearish signal (and possible a new uptrend on stock markets).

@@cryptoshotcaller7865 Not sure about his 86% sell off thesis (although the market is capable of dropping 80% in an extended bear market that most people are predicting this year or next)... but he is right that the FED and federal government have been stimulating the economy since the 2008-2009 recession. The FED poofed $8 trillion into the economy since 2009. The national debt was $9 trillion in 2007. It's now $29 trillion. It's increased $20 trillion in 15 years... Meanwhile, we've lost a huge chunk of our manufacturing to other nations. He's also right about the baby boomers falling out of the economy. I've been calling that for years. A major reason for the labor shortage is the baby boomers leaving the workforce, and now they're dying and leaving the economy. It isn't just baby boomers dying that wrecks the economy, but retiring / getting older / spending less on stuff. At a certain point, older people (we'll all get there someday) become a financial burden to the system. That was the whole deal with pensioners from big auto companies and insurance prices skyrocketing back in the early first decade of the 2000s. Boomers dying, and their homes opening up for sale en masse could cause a steep decline in housing prices.

I’ve seen a few good people say that historically in a crash gold has always dropped by about half for a short time - a month or two before going up vertically. Silver has sometimes dropped and sometimes not. But everyone agrees that it will go up dramatically. Lynette Zang was one person I’ve heard say that. But she also said that we won’t be able to buy gold or silver for any price during these big movements so shouldn’t wait for that initial drop to buy. So he’s not wrong apparently saying gold would drop, but it won’t say down which he didn’t clarify.

@Chatherine Of course gold will drop in a crash. There's nothing strange about this. It's a store of wealth, and when stocks crash and people lose money, they sell their gold to survive, pay their bills and prop up their trading accounts - that's why they have it in the first place - for emergencies. There's no other reason to own it unless you like to wear it in jewelry. It's a non-income producing asset. The title of this video is misleading. Gold is not in a bubble. The historical highest price was 42.5 years ago in January 1980 (around $2300 is the inflation-adjusted price), and in 2011 it reached around $2200 (inflation-adjusted).

I think Harry´s demographic and macro outlooks makes a lot of sense. If we get that massive crash, a liquidation of almost everything, and a (temporary) flight to bonds makes sense. Timeline is always the issue. If the fed pivots who knows, perhaps they can push this thing for another couple years. Especially once they get their hands on UBI.

All fiat currency is worthless or soon will be. It’s just a big bubble because it’s not backed by anything anymore. The real money is physical gold, silver, platinum and semi precious metals. The real metal not the metal futures or commodities markets. That’s not worth the paper it written on and you and I know it. When there is no gold or silver to back the paper contracts…the supplier goes bankrupt and you lose.

I would have asked Harry which three or four key events would confirm the end of the everything bubble E.g Nikkei index going below x level and sovereign defaults in specific Eurozone countries. That would have really helped people decide when to leave the markets. I fear he wasn’t asked because he either cannot share that detailed information or he simply doesn’t know.

No recent analysis mentions words and phrases like "tax" or "fiscal responsibility" or "balanced budget". The implication is that revenues are such an inconsequential part of the fiscal landscape that more revenue could not have tamped down inflation, prevented the devaluation of the dollar or eased the Covid pain. If that is so, does that mean we could have been paying less tax (or no tax) all along and we'd still be in this predicament? If neither paying more nor paying less tax is optimal, does that mean we have been paying exactly the right types and the right amount of taxes?

With only minor rate hikes so far by the Fed already driving a major collapse in markets and likely to lead to slowing economic growth and further rate hikes only to exacerbate this, it seems that political pressure will eventually drive the Fed to pull back on its rate hikes, with a key shift that reasonably high inflation becomes more politically acceptable given the alternatives, especially as that the government and the majority of households are heavily indebted and will be content to have this debt inflated away.

Exactly. They keep shorting it for 6 months now, attacked Luna, threw everything at it. They just want to buy it lower, at 20k, 1000s of people/entities will back up the track. The short squeeze will force such liquidations that shoot back to 30k in no time.

The crash is likely nowhere near over, and gold has dropped like 10-15% during it so far. For a conservative wealth retainer, that's not a super ideal start to a downturn.

Harry Dent travelled Australia in late 2008, saying our Housing Market was going to crash etc. By mid-2009 it was back to growth and from 2010 boomed - there was no significant "crash" - just a short-lived softening in prices. He predicted much that never came to pass. He has always been predicting depression / recession.

China infrastructure projects were just kicking off and Australia was shielded from the fallout. 2022 is totally different. India is looking like a strong economy, so perhaps Gold is just fine Harry? I also tend to agree w/ Rick Rule - pensions, endowments, funds will look for some place to put money. They can't be just in cash and 30yr Tbills. Gold will look attractive to them for a just a few % bump in their portfolios and that could be a huge influx of demand.

Realestate crashed %75 in Ireland and many other small European countries by the end of 2011 !!! My own property is still worth %35 less than it was in 2008 yet there's a major property boom here because there's a government engineered shortage to drive prices up!!! Prices in the capital and many other cities are sitting just above where they were in 2008!! He's right about one thing that crashe was never really fixed and was the symptom of much greater problem!

This simply isn't true. Gold was 800/ounce in 1980. In 2000, it was about 140/ounce. You lost 80 percent in value over that time frame. The intrinsic value of gold is a myth to most investors - and especially to investors under 50 years old.

I just wanted to say that everywhere at the moment we are being advised to exchange cash for gold bullion due to the approaching market crash, however here is my thought on the subject. If as they say that money will be worthless and gold is going to be the main value holder, then would you not expect that governments around the world would be hoarding gold stocks to keep the economy afloat. In 1929 when wall street crashed and brought about at that time, the worst economic crash in history, the government in the U S for example. ordered the population to hand over all gold belonging and jewellery to support the economy. Here is the thing to be aware of.
