The line that hit me the hardest surprisingly was from the hotdog universe. "Even in a stupid stupid universe where we have hot dogs for hands, we get very good with our feet." Even in the most ridiculous and mundane, we have the power to cultivate and seek out joy and love.

Also, the hot dog mouth sex thing was pretty clearly (to me) parallel to how she perceived same-sex relationships in the "real" world: unnatural, unsettling, and *wrong* on some level. But, in the end she comes to see that there is just as much real beauty and love there as in her "normal" reality. (Also, a strong hint that Protagonist Evelyn is repressing her own bisexuality.)

I mentioned this in another reaction video, but one of the amazing things about this film is that its budget was about 1/8th of the Multiverse of Madness at about $25 million. And even more amazing is that the 500 VFX shots were done by just 5 guys in 39 days, working on their laptops from home during the pandemic. In contrast the Multiverse of Madness had over 500 VFX artists. And Everything Everywhere is a much better movie. Goes to show you that storytelling is the key to quality.
@IceMetalPunk

Yep. You can tell an emotional story about philosophy and love and family, that explores all the possibilities of the multiverse; or you can tell a story where a woman who is otherwise amazing and intelligent does really dumb things that almost destroy a multiverse made of mostly the same universe repeated multiple times. Budget isn't as important as writing skills.

True so very true. I still watch old movies where you can literally see the wires they use because the story is great but so much that comes out today even if I watch it rather than skip it I'll do so once because there's nothing to bring you back.

I generally try not to judge people by the music or movies they like or dislike, but when it comes to this movie.... if a person didn't cry at any point in the movie themselves, and they scoffed at the people who did and go around trashing it as being lame and they're completely bewildered about what all the fuss is about.... I really don't think I could trust that person, they're missing a vital aspect of being a good human.

This movie is one of my most favorite movies ever and I have been obsessed with it since the first watch. One thing I got from it is no matter what happens, the people who you love and love you are the most important thing. Interestingly, in the science of multiverses (Everett Interpretation of Quantum mechanics), only POSSIBLE universes exist. Indeed -- I have watched til the end, and I thoroughly enjoyed your overall reaction to the film! The film is an arrant masterpiece, there's no mistakening it. I am hoping it wins for best picture once the awards season finally comes around. The entire cast did an amazing job with their acting and physical abilities: many of the actors did undergo some serious training for their fight sequences, (as an inspiring actor, film maker and writer myself), I like to pay attention to the behind the scenes mayham and details. I have been following Michelle Yeoh's career for several years, (she plays the mother in this piece) and in Shangi Chi, she plays the aunt -- in Crazy Rich Asians, she played the overprotective mother and lastly -- the woman has been doing some voice over work for some animated films, so, this woman has been on a roll for a while now. For this film, perhaps, she could win for best actress?! I think so. I would cry if she does. Stephanie Hsu, (she plays Joy). Did she NOT kill the role?! Anyway...I am ranting, lol! Don't be afraid of giving your opinions mate, just be you...be free! Where are you from, by the way?! I was raised in both London and Manchester.

Reading the comments here, I was surprised to see how few people seemed to know who Michelle Yeoh is. She learned her chops early on in Hong Kong actioners like Jackie Chan's "Police Story 3: Supercop" and took the hits that went along with any Jackie Chan movie, as the end credits testify. Others are "Heroic Trio" with Maggie Cheung and Anita Mui, "Tomorrow Never Dies" where she apparently scared the crap out of Pierce Brosnan by taking on some of the difficult stunt work, "Crazy Rich Asians", "Shang Chi", "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", and a host of others, both dramatic and action. She is currently 60 years of age.

I watched until the end and your unpolished, slightly awkward ending was perfect.

I kinda think this is how the oscars will regain relevance. If this wins movie of the year this year... people will be back onboard with that award show... because NO ONE didn't like this movie. This movies was loved by every single person who saw it that I've spoken to. It seems one of the most beloved films in the past decade.

As with anything truly unique, the creators are taking the risk that some people will abolutely hate the movie, and lots of people did to the point they walked out on it. Maybe the ration is 100-1 in favor of "Fabulous", but with very good number of tickets sold, that's still a lot of people hating EEAaO.

I watched to the end. I wished you would have recapped what you like or did not or questions you might have or just the fact the title makes sense now even thought it was crazy long... hahaha... Enjoy your humor. Saw it multiple times in the theaters.. Wonderful time experiencing all the crazy recations to the actions happening on the screen.

What's really cool is that the movie premiere sequence in Evelyn's world is real footage of Michelle Yeoh on the red carpet. Absolutely wonderful movie that I have watched way too many times.

I guffawed once I realized that one of the main alternate universes was a world where Evelyn had the life of Michelle Yeoh.
