Multiple characters have been effected by researching the void century, hell Ohara was completely destroyed because of it. Literally the B plot to the entire series has been trying to uncover the truth of what the world government is hiding about the void century & past. Egghead was great for the lore of the entire world and show, the broadcast/everyone knowing/learning the history of the world is literally going to be so relevant to the final arc/war when the show ends it’s actually laughable that you think it’s bad.

When you think about it, this was the most vegapunk way to go. Islands that had some sort of knowledge that others didn’t were destroyed. Knowledge was gate kept. With his final words, vegapunk saved all of those islands by making this common knowledge which also destroyed most of the world governments ability to gate keep such info.
