My first time going through Dark Souls, I got all the way to lost Izalith with Seigmeyer's quest, but then I tried to help him with the demons and accidentally hit him. Hearing him think I went hollow and having to kill him just... broke something in me. I loved that goof, I loved his cheerful attitude, his adventurous spirit, everything. and then I had to kill him. I couldn't touch the game for like 2 weeks after that.

35:35 That red/white enemy is one of the most ineteresting mechanincs in Dark Souls, if another player in another world forgets to pick up an item that a enemy dropped that item with become that thing and invade other worlds. The orignal owner of the item will ever know what torture that forgoten item will do to another player. Such an unique mechanic. (if you kill it you get the item)

I just got into DS1 recently (just got to the Bell Gargoyles), but it's been an amazing experience so far! The Drake Sword is a great early game weapon, but note that its stats DON’T scale with anything, making upgrading it a waste of resources. I’d recommend switching to something stronger when you find a better weapon. The weapons the tall Black Knights have a chance of dropping are some of the best in the game.

You can’t skip the estus flask. Oscar boy has the key and the flask. Killing the Stray Demon will not unlock the door.

Actually yes. You can leave the Asylum without the Estus. It's a glitch tho. But it can still happen if you are not careful. xD It happened to a KZbinr called Crystaahhl.

They fixed it at some point. I believe in the original, first unpatched edition, the Asylum Demon dropped both the key and the hammer when defeated in the first encounter, so it was possible to leave right away. Now the key goes to Oscar's inventory if you kill the demon on the first encounter, preventing that

i speak towards the ending's conclusion about hollowing is depression and humanity being an analog for taking action by yourself, and say you must do Bloodborne next, it has this message. but far stronger in my opinion the game's more aggressive and faster pace combat style is basically a power fantasy, it tells you "you see that huge thing? go kill it, if it hurts you, hurt it back harder", hell, the game's slogan is "hunt your nightmares", so along with the idea of hollowing being giving up and not trying, in Bloodborne, its that, but with a twist, you are the one that these giant, powerful beasts should fear, you're hunting them, and so it teaches you to push on without fear, or even when it is with fear, it tells you to do it with the skill and grace of a hunter, to make them regret coming across you

6:31 So *yes* you can possibly screw your entire playthrough via skipping your Estus Flask... but you'll either get it when you come back and kill the Hollowed out Oscar (which is all optional, but hey, it's possible) OR if you go behind Frampt's pit at the Firelink Shrine there's a chest that you'll notice is always open. Well, if you skip the tutorial and Oscar, that chest will be closed when you arrive at Firelink and when you open it, hey preso, Estus Flask!

Am I crazy I don't think they let you forget your Estus flask of you kill asylum demon early he just drops his hammer and Oscar then gives you the key along with your Estus flask also there's a unique cutscene for sif if you find him in the dlc before you fight him in the main game he recognizes you and everything

You can't skip the Estus. The Asylum Demon only drops the pilgrimage key after you talk to Oscar, so even if you cheesed the boss with the Black Firebombs that you can pick at the start, you still have to talk to Oscar.

Drakes are distant cousins of Dragons while Wyverns are descendants of Dragons. If they have 4 legs alongside wings they're Dragons, otherwise they're one of the other two.

A fantastic video as usual. I always hoped that you'd one day cover a Souls game (or all of them xD), because this young genre slashed its way into my list of favourite games of all time. What I love most about them is how they motivate a player to overcome a challenge. To try and fail over and over again until you prevail. Personally, I'd say Souls games get falsely "advertised" for their difficulty. Because for my understanding, calling these games super hard isn't really accurate, referring to them as being merciless on the other hand fits better, if you ask me. The constant threat of death, losing your souls, the lack of guidance and the underhanded tactics your enemies bring to bare against you. Once you know the trick, these qualities are easily accepted and/or overcome. But figuring out said trick is your duty and yours alone. The game will give you the basics and you have to find the solution on your own. It's such a satisfying gameplay loop and I will always admire FromSoft for what they brought to life with these games.

When i played dark souls i was (and still am) terrible. I ended up letting my friend give my a bunch of hacked gear. Protector name smaughs armor, crystal greatsword +10 1000 of every soul etc. Even with ALL that, i still got shitwhipped in the forest. Then id get hatemail because i was a filthy hacker and i had to explain that it was BECAUSE im bad that i needed all the help i could get... I always forgot to stay hollow or not pop a soul to.heal in certain areas. God i hate this game

The Taurus Demon and Capra Demon are not copy pasted "bosses that became regular enemies," they are the opposite, they are regular enemies that scale so high against the other enemies around them that they get treated like bosses. They are regular demons that _escaped_ the Demon Ruins and Blighttown, and got to the Undead Burg...where they started ripping shit apart.

You cannot forget your Estus. If you kill the Demon without talking to Oscar first, the Demon doesn't drop the Asylum key, Oscar does.

So I heard of the stories of the Four Kings and was mentally ready, buuuuut I got to the 4 kings kinda late (because I had no idea what to do or where to go lol) but when I found out how to get to them I went immediately, I was definitely Overpowered for them, each one died within a couple swings of my sword (was doin just a regular sword and shield play thru, no tricks, magic, or anythin.....altho I had the grass crest shield for the stamina boost but that was for more quality of life then anythin else lmao) anyway, everytime I killed one I had to wait a WHILE for the next to show up, if I didnt know the about the 4 kings b4 hand I would have thought the same thing CWins thought or thought the boss had a gimick or my game was broken lmao (and yes this was my first play thru and I purposely was just doin a regular foot soldier run because im a masocist lmao, and I only used the shield for minions, 2 handed my sword for boss fights)
