Phenomenal episode, bright and shining example of how you can in fact address the horrible things about reality that need to be changed, the ways you can change them, and the joy and hope that comes with that full cognizance
@GuukanKitsune3 жыл бұрын
That final scene with all the supertech medbays and doctor robots being shuttled to the Earth's surface and deployed really hits the feels. Those people, they don't know what's going on, they don't know why these things are happening, it's like a freaking miracle. It's like angels have come down from Heaven to heal them completely out of the blue, and it really has that sort of a feel to it.

Kinda random fun fact: the toilet became common use in the 1800s, but it was actually invented in the 1500s by a poet. This particular poet was critical of the English government at the time, so his idea was suppressed by Queen Elizabeth the first, but she took the blueprints and had one made for herself and just cept it to herself. So the thing about rich people hording technology to themselves is a very real thing.
@AJ02235 ай бұрын
I never knew that about the tiolet but the wealthy gatekeeping technology for themselves really ought to just be common sense to be honest.

As a nerd, I would watch an entire exposition of this. Human cell division stops at 125 years, making that effectively our maximum age (ish). How they overcame the aging process of cell division with some Star Trek level dialogue would be fun. Solving the "age" epidemic we have would go a long way in supporting Interstellar travel!

Going back to old films and being like "oh this film was about class war too, cool"
@alexp60133 жыл бұрын
I remember seing this movie for the first time. It does not hide away the fact that it's about class war. Elysium makes it slightly more litteral imo by making the station's forces act like a '' realistic'' (for the standard amount of displacement of this movie) military. But if I say that the movie is worse than reality, people will find me some counter examples, and I don' t wish to be depressed by this

I don't normally comment on your vids even though I've been watching for like 3 years now. I thought your political commentary was well written and expressed eloquently. I generally watch your vids to feed my optimism, but I appreciate your willingness to express your opinions openly. I think that you approached the issue with respect and level-headedness, a quality that is often lacking in these kinds of tense discussions. I am a firm believer in the idea that change comes from having a civil, open conversation, with the intent to promote equality and equity. You make the internet a little bit of a brighter place, and I just wanted to say thanks for that.

The whole "space colony spins to create gravity via centrifugal force" concept is, at the very least, 40-ish years old by this point. Space Odyssey did it and the Gundam franchise have been doing it since it started in 79.

8:03 _“Hmm, somehow I feel like this might all lead to me getting stabbed in the neck.”_ PROFESSIONAL WRITING TIP: In writing a novel or play, use “foreshadowing" to subtly hint at the outcome of the plot. WRONG: “O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?” RIGHT: “O Romeo, Romeo! I wonder if we're both going to stab ourselfs to death at the end of this plot?”
