Elysium! An amazing Neill Blomkamp film that some people loved, others didn't, but since Blomkamp's new movie Demonic just came to theatres, it felt like a good excuse to take a look at this one. So here's everything right with Elysium!

Fun fact about this movie. Eminem was originally asked to play the lead role. The reason why he ended up turning it down, was because the film couldn't be filmed in Detroit. So he asked Matt Damon if he wanted the role instead. Matt was the second choice

@@DanWMiller that aint so easy. You need place to build those houses. You will find it mostly far far on outskirts of cities. so it would be basically forcefull relocation. They would likely act like those winners of lotteries who suddenly got milion or couple of milions and in few years get back to even worse then what they started with. And then there are people like gypsies who completley devastate social houses they get, sell everything they can, even tiles from walls, and then demand more social money. sad fact is, thet is our human condition. Man there's a video where one of the district 9 compositors takes you through their Nuke setup and its so so good. Not just great cgi, but fantastic choices in general. They had so much control over the renders just in compositing you can really see what it takes to get that next step.

I'm SO happy that you're talking positively about this movie. I've loved this film ever since it dropped in cinemas. FAR more than the masses at large sadly. And far more than either Chappie or District 9. Mostly because I hate stories following terrible, unredeemable people. And both of those movies followed TERRIBLE people. You can actually root for and sympathize with the central character of Elysium. Not to mention that the visuals are top notch as is the case with the other films in Blomkamp's central sci-fi movies. This is by far, and without hyperbole, one of the most underrated sci-fi flicks out in the wild.
