I love Ana's fight scenes. They felt realistic. Everyone she fought wasn't immediately dumbed down. The ways she was thrown around were perfect. It shows how men are stronger than her but she uses other ways to win. There was a movie where it was about badass women against dumber men that forgot they were stronger and heavier than them. It made no sense.
@jenicdarling9425
@jenicdarling9425 Жыл бұрын
Totally agree! it’s so unrealistic when they have a small skinny woman with not much muscle be able to overpower and beat 4 huge muscular guys in a hand to hand fight. Like why is it that to make the female lead a strong badass character it’s by making the guys weak & dumb? The movie Atomic blonde was awesome, had her get her ass beat just as bad with her body & face a mess at the end with fights where she really struggled instead of making all the fights easy for her and walking away without even a scratch. It was more realistic and stuff then other movies like Charlie angels! lol

Having finally watched the movie I'd love to add that the reason six handles Loyd in their fight at the end despite lord's confidence is because Loyd couldn't handle the pain. He keeps getting distracted by his wounds meanwhile six fight through multiple stab wounds to choke Loyd out. It's a callback to the lesson his abusive father taught him.

Some fun facts about the movie: Most of it was shot either at Prague (Prague, the funeral in Azerbaijain, Vienna railway station, Berlin, Thai new year etc.), France (Croatian castle) or LA/ studio. You can even see the statue of Žižka in the background, who is our national hero, it's hilarious that they left it in. Funniest part though is, when they in "Vienna" and say they need to go to Prague, but actually they're in Prague already, lol. I was there during the shooting of the funeral scene as an extra, it was shot in the biggest heat possible, very interesting experience. We had to wear all black (because funeral, duh) plus coats or something over it, because it was supposed to take place in spring for no apparent reason whatsoever. People were fainting from the heat, it was really uncomfortable. Got to see Billy Bob Thorton and Chris Evans though, so that was fun! Billy Bob was very kind, they were cooling him down because of the heat and he refused and gave the cooling system to the extras. Chris was cool, I got to walk past him multiple times as he was sitting on that wall sucking on a lollypop (the poor guy sucked on at least 20 different lollypops during that scene, he got a new one for each shot, ,lol). I also got to shoot part of that tram chase action scene (the ending to be precise). It's hilarious to see in the movie how they make it look like it's all Ryan Gosling, when in reality, all he did was shoot the short part when he gets in to the car with Ana de Armas at the end, everything else was stuntmen (he has four of them btw, for each thing a different one). Just thought I'd share some fun facts with y'all, it feels so good to be finally able to talk about this movie!

@@djmindcrasher Ryan is far from a mega star, he is only recognised in indie films and such films are barely well received (don't get me wrong, critics liked them but the movie still did so bad at the box office) due to their niche nature. I've watched all of his films but he'd be considered underrated, not really a mega star status yet. The ONLY mega star in the film was Chris Evans (one of Hollywood's most paid actors annually, he has the highest net worth out of all the Gray Man cast, he is top 2 most in demand actor of this generation and one of the most bankable actors), the others just aren't as known internationally and haven't had a big break yet. Ryan will probably have his big break in the new Barbie movie but he will still not be as popular as Evans since the Captain America role incomparably catapulted Evans' fame. You had no idea who Dhanush is because his popularity is limited by demographics, mainly Indians/South Indians know about him.

@@stopthecap6913 Yeah but Lloyd still wears his loveable psychotic tendencies on his sleeve and it's just kinda weird to think that big CIA man chooses not to notice. It's a bit of a non-issue but out of all the things complainy people will point out, this was the only one that stuck with me lol

@@sorryshiina6264 True, countering oversights is where Carmichael would be more prone towards but you have to realize, the only covert division he had were Sierras and they were not to be trusted due to them being compromised, Carmichael was solely going by trust on this one and he was right, Sierra Six should not have been deployed for the initial mission to begin with as he was morally dubious. Lloyd is a bit on the end all, be all side, he had no nuance when it comes to doing his job but he still gets the job done as he does not let his conscience drive him. So, choice is either somebody he personally knows who has "psychotic tendencies" that still gets the job done (Lloyd) or ghosts with competence that asks too many questions and compromises his own agenda (Sierras). Yeah, Carmichael could have chosen anybody else but nobody else he trusts, additionally he did send Suzanne to keep Lloyd in check but she did a bad job, so technically it's her fault all along for being inadequate and not that of Carmichael. Also, don't get me wrong but Carmichael did acknowledge every I just said, even the fact that Lloyd is a sociopath, he did not bluntly say it but he never denied Suzanne's red flags about Lloyd. It's irrelevant though because Evans' character in the books is very different, he is more subtle and less of a field operative, he also works for CIA instead of his own organisation. He was still a psychopath, just more conducive to the shadows and he used to work with Six. The plot in the books made much more sense, I feel like many of the characters were changed just to fit the quantitative (instead of qualitative) formulae because it appeals to Netflix's audience more. The Russos butchered the novel.

He didn't hate them for being criminals--he hated them for not being *his* criminals, and for being better than he is (in general) despite their humble beginnings. Lloyd is a fellow Harvard man (has enough "worth"), and is a "friend" (to whatever degree either of those sociopaths are capable of friendship) who is just as invested in recovering the data (as he's included in the footage) and won't hesitate to kill Six (Lloyd likes killing and will enjoy the process of taking down someone with "street cred"). Carmichael is a first class controlling douchebag snob. Hiring Lloyd over Sierra both satisfies his vanity, and reassures his worry about an agent having any pesky morals.

I liked this film. I think Chris Evans is highly underrated in comedy he did start out with not another teen movie. I see some of his ego based character in this the same feel as his character in not a another teen movie but he kills people. Same timing, same egocentric ahole. He just added some edge to it and made it not so silly. Not another teen was a parody Afterall but I would love to see Evans in a purely comedic role again. The only issue I had with this film was on my laptop and smart phone it is so dark in the night time scenes I couldn't see what was happening. Which sucks because it's some of the best action. I messed about with the settings and stuff but I think the encoding for android devices is a bit messed up causing overly dark scenes. Its happened on a few Netflix films actually. Which is a shame

Having read the books, I found it very hard to like this movie. I didn't realise it was practically an action-comedy when watching it. While some of the action was good, the editing wasn't the best and some scenes are clearly sped up in post which I felt undermined them. What I really found was that I neither cared for the characters and that the story was (SPOILER) basically a cut down version of Commando, a superior film. With the story and character development, perhaps this should have been a series rather than a film. The 200 million budget is about 150 million more than what this movie had any right to cost especially consider the CGI was not first rate. Nice Kittridge callout :D Thank you nonetheless for a good go through on this. Your channel is one of my favourites.

I enjoyed the movie the in cinema until I remembered the trailer a week later. I expected a lot, A LOT more scenes of Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans together. Instead all we got are 1 and a half fights, and Lloyd screaming at the screens like he is the first guy to die in a Counter-Strike round. Apart from that everything is amazing, very creative fight scenes, almost original feeling dialogue and jokes, breaking of some clichés (like the fact that some goon is just better then all the heroes and they don't get to defeat him with an enormous effort). Also I'm glad the boss villain actually gets what he wants by the end, otherwise it would've felt like smt written by Tom Clancy.

Another great detail during the plane scene where they had that wordless conversation, the guy at the desk grabs a gun, but the clearly more experienced leader advises against it and opts for a knife instead because unlike what most games and movies have led you to believe, shooting inside a plane is a BIG no-no.

I think they nailed the writing. A lot of time, movies seem to - even unintentionally - give their male and female leads romantic chemistry. I think it is a result of the density of the text - of the fact you have to have good, efficient, effective dialogue and immediacy in a movie like this. And yet, I really do get the best vibe from de Armas and Gosling. They're buds. And I loved de Armas's character and her embodiment of that. Totally makes the movie that much better. And similar props to Henwick, who I have loved in everything I have seen her in, and reminds me of some of my own best friends in the best way.

yea the book and the movie are way different the book is better.
