Its the next half that I liked best. This is a rare show that just improves. I will be waiting on the next of these about as much as the next One Piece ones. Whenever you reach Movie 6 I will be extra hyped about that One Piece movie. It is just built different; In the best possible way it reminded me of the best filler arcs. Not to speak down on movie 4 and 5; I just do not know them that well. But Back to this series I felt it had a near perfect end for S1 and cannot wait to see you enjoy the rest of this gem of a series.

If I'm not mistaken, that little plant with the protective auras eventually grew up to become the big tree in the city, and the auras grew along with it - hence why the city was founded there around it, because very few places would have such protection against demons. The lore in this show is so natural and deep, gotta love it.

I loved Starks brother kneeling down, getting a lot of mud on his cape, that his father had earlier told was a symbol of strenght to not have it dirty, showing us that Stark meant more to him that his own strenght.

I can't take credit for noticing it (I read it in another breakdown of that episode, can't recall the specific source now though), but the long montage of Frieren training while the city/village is built and then the very short flash of images related to her journey with the heroes party are set to the same time scale, that is how brief the journey was in comparison to how long she waited by that village.

Episodes 9 and 10 are two of my favorite episodes of any anime - Episode 9 having about 10 minutes of some of the best fight animation I have seen in any anime, and Episode 10, when you were going in expecting yet another 10 minutes of an outstanding animated fight, instead getting 20 minutes worth of exposition on why Aura had lost the fight with Frieren before it had even begun - and it honestly being better than you were expecting in the first place... finished with that "Aura - kill yourself" line. One of the most savage lines I have heard anywhere.

A detail about the scene where Himmel puts the ring on Freiren's hand, is that it's composed so that they're represented as a couple, but between them we can see a clock tower, meaning that the only thing preventing them from being together is time. Since elves live for thousands of years and humans for only about 80, by the time an elf like Frieren may pick up a human like Himmel was in love with them, and that maybe the feeling was unknowingly mutual, it'll be too late.

And that Himmel, knowing that he would die 'in a blink of her eye' never pushed his feeling very hard at her at all. He knew if she did fall in love with him like he loved her, it would just hurt her. There's hints of this all over the flashbacks. Himmel is such a great character. Like, he dies int he first episode, but is consistantly #1 on popularity polls for the show.

Frieren has become my favorite anime of all time. The only show that has taken me on a wilder emotional rollercoaster is One Piece, and yet Frieren's presentation and storytelling is as close to perfect as I think something created by mortals can be. It's one of those rare animes that I can unashamedly and without hesitation recommend it to anyone, whether they like anime or not.

19:40 Something I love about this scene compared to the other times we've seen Frieren use the flower fields spell is that there's only a *_single_*_ type of flower._ When she does it in that flashback at the broken church-looking place (where Himmel told her about his favorite hometown flower), there's at least five, maybe ten different colors, meaning she's been going around collecting the "print data" of numerous different flowers to make each cast of the spell different, Himmel's blue flower wasn't the first, and probably won't be the last. It's like she's working towards being an encyclopedia of old, potentially lost flora.

a nice little win i would add for episode 8 right at the beginning is after killing the minion demon, she said "1 down", and in Japanese it was 一匹 [ippiki], she used a counter word for animals. Go to show how in her view, they really are just beasts that speak human words. Attention to even the lines also, Stark's clothes remained wet through several scenes. Continuity!

I never noticed when watching, but in the montage where you see the heroes party fight Aura, you can see Himmel strike her while she is holding the scales while being very surprised, meaning that he probably overcame the effect of the scales with no effort.

I rarely make any comments at all but I like to point out how subtle the costume changes were in the episodes in winter. They were wearing winter clothing and they designed it so perfectly to be near their original design but with just a touch of a few changes llike the fur/fuzzy thingy on the arm and neck. The design change was simple and subtle enough to not be distracting while keeping the realism and the original design in mind. If you didn't notice it, then better notice it now! 😁

I can´t get enough of this anime/manga! It´s a story that´s taking it´s time, yet doesn´t linger on moments too long, because it would diminish the meaning behind them. I love how an emotional journey of growth and self discovery still takes the time for fun and humor. What I love about the battles in Frieren is that despite how little importance they have in the grand scheme of the story itself, the animation team took their time to expand upon them and make them some of the most memorable, mesmerizing and phenomenal fights in modern anime history. I´m happy I was able to discover this masterpiece of a story through the anime and am always excited watching/listening to you be so happy and enjoy yourself while appreciating it.

This anime IS something special. There's a reason that its been #1 on MAL for like 3 months now. and has been increasing in score since it ended. Literally there's nothing during its 28 episodes I could find fault with. The vsuals by Madhouse's awesome animators, the OST by Evan Call. The voice actors (Both the sub and dub. the dub for Frieren is VERY good). Just as close to perfect as you can get in a show.

I recently learned Stoltz voice actor is the same one who plays Hikigaya Hachiman from Oregairu and Takeo from Ore monogatari among many other characters. I did not recognize and it really impresses me how much voice actors can sound totally different between different animes. Ep 12 of Frieren is also my favorite episode and I think Stoltz being in it is one the reason. Kind of like how Demon slayer S1 ep 3 is my favorite episode because of Sabito lol

17:00 Small correction here. Fern wasn't making a little mana go very far, she actually had a shit ton of mana left. This was a setup for what Frieren does in her fight against Aura - appearing weak when really she was incredibly strong. In this case, Fern was hiding how much mana she actually had and that was why Lugner said what she did wasn't fair. This is also addressed directly by Flamme when she said demons can't stand those who hide their mana, being mentally blocked from doing so themselves because of their pride. Also at 28:04 we're seeing in real time how spending your life with others shapes you to be a different person, even in small ways. We see the monk praying over his meals at first, followed by Stark, Fern, and eventually Frieren herself doing so. Just like we saw with Heiter affecting Eisen by making him comfortable with the idea of Heaven and the many ways Himmel changed Frieren's habits. It's something so small you'd never think on it in the moment, but looking back is something you cherish (it's almost like this is the message of the entire series)

When I first watched Mr. Stark putting on his coat it looked off to me, and I wondered why. Now I know its because so few shows and movies show something so basic so good. I'm so used to it being not shown or more clipped on that seeing all the little movements they put it seamed wierd at first. It's similar to seeing dozens of plain shirts around one with a gorgeous patten. Still like it, but weird it's around plain shirts.
