I like that you pointed out their personalities because it was a comp. of funny dub moments that made me check out a show I previously dismissed. I now have a poster, calendar, two volumes of the manga, and two plushies. Haikyuu is the deepest I’d gotten into a show since I watched Toradora for the first time like a year or two before.

This anime is so fantastic. I'm a person who doesn't watch sports because I don't see the point in watching or getting angry over the game. BUT THIS!! Haikyuu god damn! Never did I ever think an anime about a sport would make me feel SO DAMN PASSIONATE about it. I fell in love with the characters, the game, and the story in general. Every challenge was more suspense and every win made you so proud. EVERY character was so good that you didn't want any team to lose. I swear that watching some episodes filled me with so much energy that I exercised while watching. From someone who has little passion for sports, Haikyuu is AMAZING!!!

I started rewatching this for the 100000 time a couple days ago, and I never realized how much better this animation style was that the newer one. I was never a fan of the new animation style, neither the character designs themselves or the actual animation, I’ve always thought the original style was amazing. In short I’m glad you mentioned the animation style so many times because it really is amazing

The artstyle change comes down to personal preference. And partially to whether you have read the manga or not I guess. However, in terms of animation, I think the real issue with season 4 was that the animation quality highs were very high and the lows were the worst we have seen in all 4 seasons, while the previous 3 seasons maintained a consisten animation quality the entire time. It was one of Haikyuu's defyning factors that its animation was consistently very good, but some parts in season 4 got quite bad. But of course, we have to take into account that Covid complicated things a lot. To be honest, my only real issue with the new animation was the anatomy. Haikyuu's anatomy has always been extremely accurate and yet, in season 4 it appeared to me that there was so many unnecessary mistakes and inaccuracies. One of the most obvious ones and the one that bothered me the most being that the arms of the players were just way too short, especially their upper arm.

BTW in win 21, when they say "we havnt lost yet" Is actually the opposite of what you said IMO. I think that, when hinata says it, hes saying it with hope, showing that no matter what happens, he plays with hope, believing that he can in any game, if he just tries harder. Kagayama however is afraid to lose, hes saying "we havnt lost yet" because, even though hes destroying the other team, hes still afraid that they could still lose. Hinata plays with hope, kagayama plays with fear. Theyre two opposite sides of the same coin. Just how i always saw that scene :)

13:23 when I got my dad to watch Haikyu, he kept saying that their faces are squished into the net 😂(edit. But he really likes the show cause he used to do volleyball as a Highschooler and when we finished season 3 he bought me the limited editions for season 1-3) EDIT. I really love this anime. I used to be an athlete but stopped playing due to having to make the decision of getting a job instead of trying to keep playing and competing. This anime just connects with that part of me that loves the competition and misses the feeling of competing with my team. Really looking forward to the next part.

I love Haikyuu!!, and I am looking forward to seeing you cover the rest of it because it only gets better from here, now that it has all of this set-up to pay off. Plus, the tournament music is amazing. I'm glad to hear another person praising my favorite aspects of the show: how real it all feels. The action, the fact that it always has a sense of strategy that I, as someone with no knowledge of volleyball, can follow along with. The characters, with every moment dripping with personality. The story, with events unfolding in a way that feels satisfying, but also makes perfect sense in-universe. The world feels lived-in, as if it exists not just for the sake of the audience.

I love how this is 40 minutes long and its only half the first season, Haikyuu is really good, my favourite sports manga/anime, excelent story telling and all the characters are so well writen. I hope that there will be win versions for the next seasons. Now I'm curious about other sports anime you watched, have you seen Kuroko no Basket? The comedy has the same vibe has Haikyuu, it's not has good has haikyuu's character development for the main team, but it's still a great anime that, imo, everyone should at least give a try, I highly recommend it!
