@wonderfridge78575 жыл бұрын
Personally. There was one thing I wish he brought up, and, I think it’s a clever use of character awareness. Before Galahad has his memory returned, Eggsy pulls his gun on the dog, but, instead of Galahad INSTANTLY noticing, he didn’t see it until he looks back at Eggsy. His eyepatch covered the barrel of the gun perfectly to give just that extra second that, I feel if wasn’t there, would have felt rushed. It was such a smart use of how Galahad was unaware of his surroundings and I only wish it was documented here.
@dewayner53884 жыл бұрын
To be fair, this is the kind of movie with a lot going on, and that’s a kind of shot often used in movies. Good spot though
@bwer123gt2 жыл бұрын
the major weakness of galahad in this came from him losing that eye. His depth perception is off which is why he miss his shots a lot( beer mug, stun dart) and failed to dogde stuffs that thrown at him at the final battle. His awareness is off, which is why he took a good beating from all directions instead of dissing one out in the bar. He adapted after a while but still not 100%. This follow the same path of first film where they subvert expectation by giving realistic outcomes instead of cliche ones. Kinda sad that most people don't notice this.

The reason for the “Rainbow Head Explosions” in the first one was because Sam Jackson’s character hated the sight of blood. So it only makes sense for the evil genius to make something so brutal look colorful.

i agree soo much, this ...well i wouldnt say it ruined the movie for me because i still loved it but it definitely dulled my enjoyment somewhat. One of my favourite things about the original kingsman was the fact that it was one of the few recent movies i had watched then that had a strong well written relationship between the main male and female characters that was purely a well done friendship with romance never even being suggested. I loved their dynamic and the fact that it was taken away so early in the second one and she didnt even get to go out gloriously like merlin did just broke my heart
@elizacarrie74333 жыл бұрын
I kinda assumed the villain motivations in the movies were always just supposed to be bipartisan controversial. The first one is an acknowledgement of overpopulation issues fixed by attempted genocide: obvious real problem with obvious bad solution. The second one is an acknowledgement of the widespread use of recreational drugs fixed by extortion of all participants: another obvious real world problem (whether you’re thinking that drugs are abused or drugs are demonized unnecessarily Ritalin and Oxy v speed and heroin as an obvious example) with another obviously bad solution. The point wasn’t to take a stance, it was to point out that either way the solution proposed is bad
@JoshSweetvale Жыл бұрын

I actually felt that Eggsy's relationship with the princess somewhat improved the end of the first movie. I'm not certain I could put my thoughts into words, but I'll try. Basically, instead of being a meaningless trophy she became a real person, and instead of being a neanderthal who thought with his genitals Eggsy became a caring boyfriend who just happened to meet his girlfriend under less than ideal circumstances.. It fully succeeded in improving my opinion of the previously truly offensive - to BOTH genders - end of the first movie. Also, it was a movie that caught me off guard even though I enjoyed the trailer. I loved this one, because he committed to the same princess. I don't ever remember seeing that happen in other films. I'm pretty sure that both Merlin and Roxy are still alive. Merlin more than likely got his leg(s) blown off which would probably prevent him from going in the field again. Roxy rolled off the bed and was trying to get out when she realized a missile was headed for her house- which mind you, didn't hit the house itself, it hit the lawn in front of the house and caused it to cave in. I'm pretty sure that Roxy was spending the duration of the film trying to dig her way out of the rubble. Her glasses are more than likely not working anymore, seeing as they could have been damaged in the house collapsing in. She probably was trying to find a way to contact Kingsman till she realized that everyone is basically dead, say for Eggsy and Harry (and potentially Merlin). She'll probably return in the third film, which is said to be in the works. I just hope they don't show her in the trailer like they did for Harry. It's getting annoying how Hollywood thinks that the best way to market a film, is revealing things like characters not being dead or major villains, when those things are supposed to be surprising news for us when we go to see the movie itself.

I honestly thought Poppy was a better villain than Valentine. Her first scene made me afraid of her from her tone of voice alone. And then the lengths she goes to ensure loyalty from her subordinates only further cemented that fear. And I felt her plan was actually quite unique. She doesn’t want to destroy the world, she just wants to be on top of it from the light rather than the shadows. Holding millions of people hostage was just a means to an end, proven by the fact that she had an antidote readily available for worldwide distribution.

Marlins self sacrifice to his own take in country roads hits me home. I went through a mad depression with my 1st love in high school and the jokes and overall funniness of this movie helped me out. But loveing the first movie so much when I watched the 2nd I cried at Merlin's death. For the first time in a year or 2 even with all the depression. I finally felt the sweat feel of relief letting all of my insecurities and just sadness from the 4 months of hell I went through out over the death of a character in a very sentimental movie. Still brings me some tears.
@TheFoolishSamurai6 жыл бұрын
I feel like the first movie only "pushed the envelope" in terms of disbelief. The only hardcore, fantastical elements in the first were the rainbow explosions and some of the gadgetry. This movie introduces cyborgs, intelligent robots, car surfing, laser ropes, revitalization gel, and a few other wacky things. It certainly would throw off anyone unready. If I, and many other people, knew that this was an adaptation of a comic with universal ties to series like _Kick-Ass,_ and understood that the first movie was only an introduction to this wacky world, then our reaction to the movie would be less "stunned." I loved it personally, but I understand the distaste in the sequel.

I agree, I thought the first film was MOSTLY just about plausible like all the best James Bond stuff, (even the exploding heads was OK cos it reminded me of the original 1967 Casino Royale) but Golden Circle put me off from the second half of the opening scene (it was completely awesome right up until Charlie went through the windscreen) from the cartoony CGI drifting round the roundabout to the gadgets that were totally implausible. Bond's Aston DB5 and Lotus Esprit were pushing it but just on the edge of almost believable, but the taxi where the entire gearbox magically disappears into the bonnet area where not only was there an engine but also a missile launcher. AND the car then turns into a submarine as well. Plus of course the alphagel then ruins the suspense when literally anyone could be brought back to life. The film had to work pretty hard to win me back from that. It did, but it was definitely not a patch on the first one.

A lot of this movie was great. Overall I don't think it's as good as the first, but there's some great moments here (Merlin). The action is better than ever. The opening and third act fights are amazing. Poppy was a weird villain and the robotic stuff was a bit overdone. Ultimately, I think the film suffered from too many characters (and getting rid of Roxy was super fucking lame). But the characters we know had some great stuff to work with.

Coming from an athletic trainer and rehabilitation therapist, I really enjoyed that they didn’t give Harry his full strength back in the bar fight scene. If the body doesn’t practice something for an extended period of time - say if you are in a hospital room for a period of months - the nerves and muscles start to forget how to do complicated things. So while you know how the movements for fighting should go, the fine motor control needed to complete them isn’t there. They can be relearned quickly with practice (as is shown later in the movie) but it makes sense why Harry is surprised that he can’t fight at the same level he previously did.

Honestly, i enjoyed this movie alot. The drugs vs alcohol statement for me didn't felt too "in your face". For me it was another Macuffin used by the villain like last movie with Wifi and cellphones. And Elton John was funny. It really did feel like the guy stole each scene he was in. One thing that bothered me was Whiskey's betrayal. It felt a bit out of nowhere. If we got introduced to his past in a dialogue or something before Galahad figured out he was a traitor, it would of come out more of a surprise. And i get it that it was a trick about Galahad still trying to adjust his brain after regaining his memories, but still. Also, Merlin was also supposed to come back at the end of the film, but test audiences said they felt cheated of Merlin's death. And that seemed confusing to me because Lancelot died in this film too, as well as JB.

The first movie had all sorts of things that broke the tropes in the film industry, and I think they did a good job of replicating that again with Kingsman 2, but it still lost some of the value to it, but I agree that I'd love it if these films became the new James Bond, where we get several of them, because even though they most likely won't be as good as the first, they're still over all amazing movies

Honestly, I like this movie but I don't get your issue about a fictional red tie, red state, President with a southern accent and his clear partisan position on the War on drugs. Especially when considering the first movie insinuated the bluest of blue like fictional President not only would be complicit in Valentine's plan to kill billions of ppl for sake of saving the planet, due to overpopulation, but also had his head blown when Kingsman intervene. I mean, geez, at least this Red tie fictional President was saved a beheading by only getting arrested and impeached

You have a point though given the US’s history with drugs (as you mentioned the war on drugs). Additionally there was always the generalized view to stigmatize them that addiction is a moral failing on the individual’s part.
@geneparmesan87486 жыл бұрын
Did they insinuate a blue president? I think they just showed the back of the president's head. He was black, so you could insinuate he COULD be Obama, but it was kept coy. I personally didn't catch the "red tie, Republican" connection like some did, but irrespective of my personal politics I found the president/his aide arguing over drugs to be annoying, since the arguments were laid out so simplistically as to sound pandering.
@lunargamer52616 жыл бұрын
James Gardner, the insinuation of a blue President in the first movie is made on the fact that the President is enough of an environmentalist to go along with Valentine's plan. Environmentalist implies left wing/democrat in American politics. The President in Golden Circle is a caricature of a position. His absolutist attitude against drugs is just a reflection of the villain's absolutist attitude in favor of them. In that way, the movie condemns extreme positions. Taken together, the two Kingsmen movies are more an indictment of politicians, in general, than one party or ideology. The President in the first movie shows apathy for the common man by joining the villain and the President in the second movie shows apathy by opposing the villain. The villain in each Kingsmen movie actually has a reasonable cause, but uses ridiculously drastic means at the expense of average people to pursue it. Comparing the Presidents' attitudes to such different villains just shows how unreliable they are and allows Eggsy, the lower class kid, to save the world.

Guaranteed, most actors get a win for putting in honest effort even though everything we know says they hated to be on set. Guy who wrote the book probably gets some wins for being a supporting friend, Tommy gets some wins for really going for it and trying to achieve his dreams no matter how much people told him it was a bad idea etc, etc. I'm sure also we'll get a couple admitted sins, and in the end round up he'll admit he cringed and felt uncomfortable during a lot and it deserves the reputation it has, but also, it is still hilarious and worth watching, even if maybe it wasn't worth making.

I always thought that whiskey might’ve actually been good, you see how after Galahad gets his memories back he has lapses of clarity, I think whiskey had the exact same thing, he might’ve been a good guy as well.

Whisky was a Good Man. But he did make the villians choice, before Harry shot him, that he wanted all the druggies to die. Getting the money from Statesman stock was just a bonus. The only lapse in clarity was probibly doing the actual villian monologue about his motivation in the diner instead of just killing Harry and Eggsy when they least expected it. There were lots of hints about it in the movie but it is spelled out concretely in the novel.

as a swedish person myself, hearing someone say "det här är jättegott" in such a foreign way, especially in a movie is just always hilarious, sure its fun when people try in real life but bringing that kind of touch in a movie is just sweet perfect. eggsys pronounciaton: 10/10 love it!

They reused "rage and serenity" from X-Men first class but ya know what? Not even pissed. I got a big smile and goosebumps both times.

I just saw the film today. Was it as good as the first? Nah. But man it was still a ton of fun. This Win-Count was another therapeutic one 😁

Lancelord is pretty much the equivalent to a red shirt in the Kingsman universe. It also ats more weight to the destruction of the kingsman.

to me its a sin she died, simply because her death was so abrupt. Nowhere near as meaningful as Merlin.
Not many know this but they play country roads on the bagpipes at the beginning and it’s supposed to be from his funeral but they it was scrapped before Filipino so that is just a homage to a forgotten scene and a great man
