SavageWonton honestly, it’s just a suitcase, not every item a dead relative has is super important to their family. U know what else was in that suitcase? The Homecoming suit aka Tony’s first ever gift to Peter(also has way more personal value to Peter) is destroyed but Peter never whines about that. Even if he (understandably) did cry about that no one would like that although it makes WAY more sense.

I wish you had winned my favorite line from Happy's "pep talk." "No one can live up to Tony. Not even Tony." Just letting him know hey, stop chasing the legend of iron man. You'll never catch it, not because you're not good enough but because it doesn't exist. It's a legend and not even the man behind it could catch it. He tore himself up trying to catch it just like you're doing right now. To me that was the part that let Peter out of Tony's shadow.

There's a *win* that you missed, in Homecoming, Happy didn't even give a damn about Peter, with having to basically babysit him and be his chauffeur and whatnot, but in this movie, after Endgame, Happy acts like a second father towards Peter because he knew this kid just went through A-LOT of Hell. Thanos wiping him out, being crushed alive under a buildng, getting injured in the Endgame war, and the worst of all: Watching Tony die right in front of him...

Personally, I think Happy is implicitly trying NOT to be a father figure for Peter, just kind. He understands what Peter is going through, but he doesn't want to be yet another father figure (hence why especially in the beginning he's trying to not seem like he's flirting with Aunt May, who is a maternal figure for Peter). He relates to and feels for Peter, but also knows a father figure isn't who he needs right now. Either way, Happy is always a win.

I loved the “in memoriam” segment. To these kids, and most of the world, these Heroes died fighting for them. True conclusion: Aunt May never sets off his Spider Sense because that aspect is an awareness and alertness of incoming threats and danger. Aunt May is neither of those things to him. There's also a transition period which is how he realized he was in love with Black Cat. Because one night she tackled him and his Spider Sense went off, the next night she slammed right into him. One of the best scenes had to been when Peter questioned if it was actually Happy in the tulip field with the private jet. Holland's emotions of fear and paranoia were so well portrayed, the audience felt every bit of it and were pleased when Peter hugged Happy. It makes sense since Peter just went through mental and physical torture, causing him to doubt everything which also relates to Beck's manipulation and his goal to crush Peter by using everything he likes against him. So Peter would fear if Happy was a trap because he really cares for Happy and knows that Beck could've tapped his call and use him against Peter.

i also, final note, love the meta level on the movie titles. homecoming: after some weird stuff, we go back to what we now spider-man is at the heart. he's a kid, but he's also a neighborhood hero. far from home: we're going in a direction where no spider-man series has ever gone. with his identity revealed, we're going 'far from' the familiar set-up.

What I love about this movie, is how real the characters feel. You didn’t show it, but after the plane lands, you get a real sense that Peter is struggling with ptsd, but because he feels like he was in Tony’s shadow, he couldn’t talk about it, or even delve in on it. I’m sure after the snap he had some serious self doubt about his character. But not only that, it he lost, a father figure, who’s idolized, gained a new father figure, who turns out to want to kill him in what? A few months, years? The impact from when he met Happy and they talked again is huge. He was just in a huge fight where nothing was real, the only thing real was his injuries. He needed something real, but with what he went through, he couldn’t get a feel for it. Peter and Happys hug was a huge changer for Peter. It gave him stability. We have to remember, Peter is a 16-18 year old with PTSD, everything he went through is difficult to deal with as an adult, nevermind a teenager. He needed to feel secure and less shadowed, which helped him in the end. Maybe I’m over thinking it, or maybe it’s because he feels that way, that makes him feel more real to me as a teenager who struggles with ptsd... idk, but I love him.
@UmbraKrameri
@UmbraKrameri 4 жыл бұрын
I think it was a really nice touch that the ever-trusting Peter immediately asks Happy to prove he is not an illusion. They played it for a joke, but the relief on his face in war with the doubt that he wants this so desperately to be true but afraid it isn't, was just heartwrenching.

Edit for time stamp: 20:01. When paused, you can see his pointer and middle finger wrapped around what would be the trigger and trigger guard, while his ring and pinkie are wrapped around the grip. Some nice details about Beck's last illusion: -The real Beck had wet, unkempt hair in the scene. His hologram had dry, perfectly combed hair to look more presentable. -His arm movement as he holds out the glasses is the exact same movement he makes to point the gun at Peter. Also, I bet that Mysterio will return, but Beck will actually be dead. His team of vengeful Stark employees still has the tech and software to create the illusions.

That's kind of the advantage of only being a casual fan of comic book characters. You know enough to generally recognize plenty of the characters, but not enough to know all the details about who they are. Seeing the scene where the band kids suddenly appear in the middle of the basketball court and run into the players has always made me wonder, what would happen if you were standing directly where someone else was standing, and they got snapped back into existence? Would you just get pushed out of the way, or like both you just die instantly in a bloody mess? Or like what would happen if you were standing somewhere, let’s say on a cross walk, and when you re appear, there is a car right where you re appear, you would most likely get chopped into little bits

The other neat thing about that statement is that "Tony" and "Iron Man" were also characters to the MCU. Tony's been in the news all his life, both as "Tony Stark, genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist" and "Iron Man, Avenger, Earth's Defender". Being a celebrity, a stigma was created that he *_had_* to act and be a certain way. People had expectations of him that they wanted him to live up to as a public persona. But Tony couldn't live up to the expectations put on him as both Tony Stark and Iron Man, and he realized that lesson painfully well in Endgame. I'd even argue that meeting Peter helped Tony realize that.

Remember that Tony line in Homecoming where Peter says "I wanted to be like you" and he says "and I wanted you to be better" He must've carried that pressure all the way to 2023 up until Happy finally relieved him of his misunderstanding about what Tony meant, to him it must've meant to be better than Iron Man, to be his successor, but for Tony he meant to be his legacy, someone anybody can look up to and rely on, not another Iron Man. Teenagers and kids fixate on statements like these and cling to them if they don’t have anything else to cling to in their mores. Learning to make good moral choices is a struggle that teens go through enough in a home and school environment. Adding the superhero element to a teen means that teenagers make bigger and lasting mistakes without the safety net. Tony was trying to be a good dad since Peter didn’t have one to lean on, but it was a no-win situation from the get-go.

One line from Beck/Mysterio I liked was when he learned that one of his helpers screwed up and let a drone get captured by MJ, who then told Peter the truth: “Now I’m going to have to kill Peter Parker!” He says it in a way that is regretful. He never wanted to kill him and never planned to do so. I think that was a good, underrated character moment

IMHO the entire MJ storyline is a massive win. It's so cute because this time it's reciprocal and they don't even know it. The 5th King Please don't insult comic MJ; she's nothing like Raimi MJ. Comic MJ is fully supportive of Peter to the point that he routinely remarks that she's the one thing that keeps him together, and there's a very real, intimate romantic chemistry between the two. Raimi MJ is just an emotional leach that can be borderline abusive. She's also a damsel in distress scream queen, much like all of Sam Raimi's female characters. I do agree with you about MCU MJ, though. MCU MJ is definitely better than Raimi and PS4 MJ, but not as good as 616 MJ. She has a pretty interesting and unique personality for a superhero love interest, she and Peter have some romantic chemistry (albeit awkward, but they're teenagers, so it can't slide) unlike Raimi and PS4 where the romance feels ridiculously forced, and I also don't mind the race change. Peter rarely goes out with anyone other than white women in most Spider-Man media (only a few exceptions to this), and I think that it's nice diversity. What I especially like about this MJ. Is that she's not a damsel in distress like Raimi MJ, but at the same time, she's not a Mary Sue like PS4 MJ. Most superhero romantic interests either fall into one of those two categories. They either haves to be saved by the hero at every turn or are overly confident to the point that they can inexplicably defeat supervillains and usually end up saving the hero, which is really annoying and dumb. They've seemingly found the perfect balance with this MJ. As proven when she hit the drone with the mace, she can somewhat take care of herself and isn't just a helpless damsel in distress. However, she's still just a normal human, so while she can create a distraction for herself and others to get to safety, she still needs superhuman help like anyone else would, as evidenced by the fact that the drone recovered pretty quickly and was only temporarily staggered by the blow. It's a great cliche dodge. MJ and Peter's relationship in the comics is just way too fantastic and adorable, though. I highly doubt that they could realistically come close to it on film. Didn't mean to rant to you, just felt like writing all of this for some reason.

@@djrocksgaming6255 i disgaree, so as long as MJ maintains the helplessly boring girlfriend figure to peter parker, then she's perfect huh? like, Sam Raimi's MJ was a damsel at the end of each movie, that's a fair critique that i agree with, but at least she has a character arc, and how the hell is PS4 MJ even a Mary Sue? she hasn't saved spiderman nor defeated any villains, she has helped out where she could, but somehow that's too much for some gamers? MCU version of MJ isn't exactly perfect either, and you've detailed why, you could take MJ out of Far From Home and it wouldn't change anything about the plot itself, she likes Peter and Peter likes her, that's the extent of who she is at least with Raimi and PS4 MJ, their relationships with their respective Peter Parkers weren't perfect, and had room to grow, the chemistry between them starts to change as the stories progressed but no, MCU MJ is the best, why? well because their relationship is 'cute'... that's literally it. piss poor reason

Peter reaches out completely on instinct, and he almost didn’t even realize he even did it until he looked over at Beck completely broken and betrayed. (It’s not shown here) That moment, you could see every emotion piled up on top of him after everything that’s happened and what Beck did to him. His eyes are glassy, borderlined unfocused, and his face and suit are cut up and bloody. That moment he stopped the bullet was the moment he stepped out of Tony’s shadow and the “I need a mentor” mentality.

Mysterio was such a memorable villain to me because he played with all of the tropes of a superhero - Can't stop posing before and through action - Capes - Quips - Generic energy projection with blasts, repulsion, stationary can't-hold-it-much-longer magic shield, - One-liners - Self-sacrifice with a convenient last energy blast - Bonding moments knowing the right thing to say - World-threatening events with generic monsters destroying random stuff - Kooky codename - Superman-ish beacon of hope - Contrived, tragic backstory with lost family (attention to detail win here since Beck does wear a holographic wedding ring under the holographic left glove, or... real. Beck really got me in what's real or fake) All in order to be a believable superhero, Beck really blurred the line of what makes a hero and how characters are built. And casting Jake Gyllenhaal!? A guy so versatile that not even checking his filmography wouldn't help define of that would be a different version of Mysterio who would actually be a hero. PITCH PERFECT
