I'm so happy you got to experience To Your Eternity. A lot of people say it's just there to try and make you cry but I think they are missing the point. It's showcasing what makes a human a human on an emotional level, step by step from a creature that started out as a rock who had no capability at feeling or experiencing anything but also being given the opportunity to experience everything with it's abilities. The good and the bad. Fushi is basically an alien/infant at the start of this. When he doesn't show the appropriate emotional reactions at horrible things that happen to those around him, you understand why that is and love him regardless. He doesn't cry when the boy dies in the first episode, he simply moves on but he remembers. And despite all the cruelty shown to him in these episodes, the main cast become the cornerstone of his personality in the future. Their traits: their kindness, compassion, bravery are what he latches onto. Without these people, he could have very easily turned into a literal immortal monster on an endless killing spree. And since he can reproduce every weapon that has harmed him, he'd be unstoppable, turning everything used against him right back on his aggressors. Yes, this could have very easily been a very different kind of story. Pretty random but at 23:16 It's very easy to overlook but Fushi is constantly repeating "it hurts" the entire time after he'd been "killed" over and over by the prisoners. 24:14 It's only after March removed all the spears and arrows from the bear that he finally stopped turned to look at them. Then mummers "thank you". The camera switches back to the bear and it looks like it's finally at peace, almost smiling after the constant pain is removed. The camera goes back to Fushi and he also is seen mirroring that smile. That's probably the first time he's ever empathized with another creature. So when March is killed off it hits harder because all he knew is that she was the source of his happiness and her inflicted pain causes him to go on the rage filled warpath as a bear. Great stuff. The animation in this series can flex when it wants to but it does tend to lean into a lesser side when compared to other shonen series, especially in the episodes after this but it is by no means a dealbreaker. However, the story more than makes up for it by avoiding most of their tropes. The plot always surprises me with where it decides to go since Fushi is an ever evolving creature. Season 2 gave me mixed feelings and the cliffhanger it leaves you on once again left me wondering where the hell they plan on going with the story. That's the exciting part though. Can't wait to see your opinion on the series as a whole.

to your eternity is by far my favorite anime, it might fall a little short at points and can begin to drag a bit at times, but the highs it has are higher then any other anime in my opinion. rewatching it only made me love it more because theres also a pretty massive amount of foreshadowing that isnt obvious at first.

So glad you got to this anime. Also, I wish to let you know that your videos helped me appreciate not just anime, but media as a whole. You put into perspective the amount of work it takes to make good animation and voice acting. Before, I wouldn't have noticed things like people not walking on the spot but now I watch things in a new lens, falling in love with scenes knowing how much animators put into the number and quality of frames in each scene. That's all thanks to you so I thank you for the positivity that you bring to the world.

one of my favourite anime series of all time, the first episode has more emotion packed into it than most entire series I've seen. I don't cry from emotions very much, it's some sort of complex that I'm working to get over, and this was one of the few series to make me cry, alongside Anohana, and a few that escape my mind at the moment. Even if the series existed just to make the audience cry, which it certainly doesn't, I would still love it to bits for making me feel so strongly

I found this manga years ago on a translation website and lemme tell you,,,, that first sequence with the boy never fails to make be bawl. Or when March dies. Or many of the things coming up in the second half of this season and others in the future, But a detail I cannot overstate is the bit at the very end of this video: seeing the boy all grown up, because Fushi hasn't needed to change forms in such a long time. Because as we've seen, he goes back to the base version of those forms every time he shifts!! It's not as if he could have been changing to the wolf here and there, to look so old as the boy, he's spent YEARS only as him. Years safe and with his family, living as a human.

Damn it. What was I thinking, watching this right after the 86 part 2 video. Looos like I'm gonna need that rehydration IV. 29:34 Pretty sure this was the moment Marrch became one with Fushi. He is channeling her emotions, because they are now his emotions. That scene mercilessly destroyed me on first watch. Like with Vivy, which was airing in the same season, you would get slapped with moments of "NO. NO WAY! That did not just happen. Ohhhhhh...." but, it felt like it was a fist to the gut saying that.

The more popular one is katakana but the first one most websites or apps like Duolingo teach you is hiragina.
